Dear Parents,

Chinese New Year is just around the corner. I used to be very excited whenever New Year drew near. According to Chinese tradition, everything should be new to welcome the New Year. I still recall very vividly our parents taking us shopping for new clothes, shoes, and toys when I was a kid.

But I am not excited at all this year. In fact, I am very sad because of the fact that Falun Gong practitioners are still being persecuted in China. Already, over 360 practitioners have been tortured to death; thousands are still being incarcerated and tortured in psychiatric hospitals and labor camps; and thousands more are drifting homeless in different cities. They risk being arrested if they go home.

Since last year, I have tried to let people know about the brutal persecution in China. I passed out flyers; I conducted Falun Gong workshops; I also attempted to bring awareness to the government officials. Now it's time for me to take one step further to end this brutal persecution in China. I have decided to go to Tiananmen Square to appeal for the rights and lives of the Chinese people.

My appeal will be very peaceful. It is also legal under Chinese and international laws. In fact, Jiang's regime has breached the Chinese Government's own constitution by banning and persecuting Falun Gong. The International Educational Development of the United Nations has described the regime's violent assault on practitioners of Falun Gong as "state terrorism." State terrorism is a form of government terror against its own people.

I understand your concern, as parents, your deep concern over my appeal in Tiananmen Square, which is in the clutches of a ruthless government. Perhaps, you should also have concerns for the people in China. They also have their families: Parents and children, husbands and wives, and brothers and sisters. What about them? If we all stand up against this horrendous persecution, it will end immediately.

I cherish my life more than ever since I found the practice of Falun Gong. I practice the exercises and meditation every day. I also assimilate myself to the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my daily life. I am healthier, happier and stronger. I have more energy at work and for study. The benefits are endless.

Regardless of whether I go alone or with a group of people, I will go to Tiananmen Square with a pure and righteous mind. I will appeal peacefully for the right of the Chinese people to practice the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, because no one can take away this basic human right. I made this decision because I love China and the Chinese people.

Please keep a righteous mind; the evil always loses to the righteous. I will be home safe. Please remember that, and that I will always do the right thing.
