1. [Southern China] Falun Dafa Banners Seen Everywhere on the First Day of the New Era

On the first day of the new era, dense fog covered a city in southern China. In the fog, practitioners hung up many Falun Dafa banners. As the fog faded, the banners appeared. People doing morning exercises were amazed, "Dafa practitioners are amazing. In a split second, the banners are hanging everywhere."

2. [Northwestern China] Practitioners Hold Experience-sharing Meeting on New Year's Day

Practitioners in a city in northwestern China held an experience-sharing meeting on New Year's Day. It was the first conference in the past six months. They exchanged experiences on how to follow the Fa-rectification, looking within oneself for attachments, opposing the persecution, better clarifying the truth and offering people salvation. They came to a better understanding of how to become one body and advance together. They also made a batch of truth-clarifying VCDs and literature, and sent them to everyday people through practitioners. With their actions, they paid their deep respect to Teacher and wished him a happy New Year.

On the last day of 2001, 35 practitioners from 5 counties in Northeastern China held an experience-sharing meeting. At the beginning, they sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil. Through exchanging experiences at the meeting, they had a deeper understanding of reason, wisdom, benevolence, and righteous thoughts. They came to realize the importance of mutual encouragement, communication, improving as a whole, advancing as one body, and clarifying the truth intensively and widely. The meeting was held for 5 hours, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the end, some practitioners were still reluctant to leave, so they held a small group discussion over some particular questions.

4. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Go to Beijing for Fa-rectification

A month ago, with the help of some special agents, the police raided and destroyed a location for making truth-clarifying literature in Songyuan City, Jilin Province. They have arrested and persecuted practitioners in Fuyu County without restraint. Before New Year's Day, several practitioners went to Beijing in different groups. Among those we know, five went to Beijing with righteous thoughts for Fa-rectification, and four of them have returned safely so far.

Since December 2001, practitioners from a city in Henan Province have hung up 3,000 Falun Dafa banners. This greatly shocked and eliminated the evil, and many people were awakened. Practitioners acted as one, and the police were not able to interfere.

Practitioners hung the banners up on the power lines by a simple, safe, and quick method. The police tried many ways and still couldn't get them off. The people who gathered around to watch were amused and said, "Falun Gong people are so smart."

6. [Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Some Information About the Persecution of Local Practitioners (Continued)

Female practitioner Du Xin is 34 years old. On December 17, 2000, when she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, she was forced to get off the train by the police in Changchun Station for not having her ID with her and taken into custody by Section 7 of the Harbin Police Department. On December 18, officers from Chengbei Police Station in Acheng City arrived in Changchun to escort her back. They handcuffed and beat her on the way. During the 16 hours of interrogation in Chengbei Police Station, the police refused to let her use the bathroom. In addition, they verbally abused and laughed at her. Du Xin was later transferred to Acheng City Custodial Center and detained for 15 days. The Custodial Center extorted 150 Yuan from her. Her family was extorted 2,000 Yuan by the Acheng City Police Department, the 610 Office, and Chengbei Police Station. During the past year, officers from Chengbei Police Station often went to her home or made phone calls to harass her. The party secretary of her workplace, Songhuajiang Textile Co. Ltd., often threatened and harassed her. The party secretary also applied pressure on her husband to beat her. On November 17, 2001, four policemen from Acheng City Police Department and Chengbei Police Station broke into her home and ransacked it. Du was forced to abandon her home to avoid further persecution.

Female practitioner Du Guoping is 39 years old. She went to Beijing to rectify the Fa and was arrested on her way. She was sent to Acheng City Custodial Center and detained for 15 days. She was extorted 150 Yuan by the custodial center and 2,000 Yuan by the Acheng City Police Department, the 610 Office, and Chengbei Police Station. Using the fact that Du Guoping was not registered as a local resident as an excuse, the police evicted her and forced her to go back to her hometown.

8. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] The Violence of Guards in No.1 and No.3 Custodial Centers

Not long ago, a female practitioner detained in No.3 Custodial Center in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province did the Falun Gong exercises, and guard Liu Xiuying applied shackles to her feet. A week later, the shackles fell off by themselves. The inmates said that it was the power of Falun Gong's Teacher that had helped loosen the shackles.

Guard Sun Zhihong in No.1 Custodial Center often tortures practitioners on hunger strike, asking over ten inmates to force-feed the practitioner with salty water.

9. [Qian'an County, Jilin Province] The Politics and Security Section of the Police Department Kidnaps Practitioners and Extorts Money from Them

Under the direction of Zhang Xilong, Deputy Police Chief, the politics and security section officers searched practitioners' homes without any legal documents. As long as they found Falun Gong books, they would arrest the practitioners and detain them. They also extorted money from them before releasing them.

A practitioner named Li was forced to pay 10,000 Yuan [Yuan is Chinese currency. The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.], practitioner Hua 5,000 Yuan, Zhou 2,000 Yuan, and Hao 5,000 Yuan. Two other practitioners were extorted also, but the exact amount is unknown. Those who didn't turn in the money are still being detained. We hope practitioners can call the police department and send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil elements.

10. [Jilin Province] Jiutai Forced Labor Camp Incites Inmates to Torture Practitioners

The No.4 Team in Jiutai Forced Labor Camp of Jilin Province established a room of strict supervision to persecute practitioners. Team leader Zheng Hai instructed inmates Sun Jiyang and Gao Jianguo to supervise the practitioners sent to this room. The two inmates are convicts who used to be gang leaders. Practitioners on hunger strike are always sent to this room to be tortured by Sun and Gao. They said openly, "If you go on with the hunger strike, we will choke you to death and tell people you died of natural causes." In order to conceal their evil deeds, the guards do not allow any other inmates to get close to the room. Any violation will result in their sentences being extended for 3 months.

Two practitioners were found to be missing in Taikang County, Henan Province on November 26 and 27, 2001. On the morning of November 26, a practitioner spoke with one of them, who said that she was going somewhere with the other practitioner. Nothing has been heard from them ever since.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999, the Postal Bureau in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province has been illegally opening personal letters on a daily basis and withholding mail that contains information about Falun Gong. During the New Year season, they used a device to scan the letters. In one day they withheld as many as 3,000 letters. The people in the Postal Bureau are knowingly breaking the law and violating the privacy of the citizens without restraint.
