Among the group of Westerners who unfurled Pro-Falun Gong Banner A Minneapolis man was among 35 Westerners expelled from China for a Falun Gong protest in Tiananmen Square this week.
John Nania was arrested and then detained for 19 hours, before police put him on a plane back to the United States.
The 43-year-old writer was told that he cannot return to China for five years.
Nania and others unfurled a banner in the square on Tuesday that featured Falun Gong's views, but police arrived immediately to break it up.
China's government accuses Falun Gong of being [term omitted] and regularly imprisons its followers.
