(Clearwisdom.net) The Central News Agency reported from Taipei on September 25, the East Asia Migratory Locust plague that hit Hainan Province, Danzhou City this May, has recently spread and transferred from wastelands to sugar cane fields and the nearby rice fields. The grand total of the affected area reaches as high as 69,500 Mu (4,636 hectares).

The Central News Agency quoted Xinhua News Agency's report as saying, Danzhou City Plant Protection Station Manager Yuan Qunxiong pointed out at present the third generation nymphs of the migratory locust are still hatching en masse in staggering numbers. The density reaches 1,000 locusts per square meter. Some of the four to five period old nymphs of the migratory locust have relocated. The migratory locusts mainly concentrate in the sugar cane fields, the wild grass fields, and roadside lawns while the younger nymphs of the locust gradually increase their numbers in the sugar cane fields, and they directly damage the sugar cane.
