[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Familiar Sounds Echo Amidst Darkness

Practitioners in Changchun City read Falun Dafa articles to detained practitioners and other people three times at the end of December 2000. In the mornings of December 26^th, 27^th and 29^th, practitioners set up loud speakers and broadcast Teacher's new article "Eliminate the Evils" and some programs from Falun Dafa Radio Station in several places. They covered Fenjing Forced Labor Education Center, Weizigou Forced Labor Education Center, Heizuizi Forced Labor Education Center, and Changchun Railway Station.

When this most magnificent sound echoed in the sky, the guards and policemen at the Forced Labor Education Centers were so scared, and the practitioners inside were greatly encouraged. Many people passing by stopped to listen to the broadcasting.

[Southwest China] Many Falun Gong Truth-Clarifying Materials Appear at a Southwest China City

On December 23^rd, a lot of materials revealing the truth about Falun Gong appeared at many colleges and universities in XX city in southwest China.

On December 24^th (Christmas Eve), tens of thousands of people gathered in a park to celebrate Christmas and received a surprising Christmas gift. Drifting down from the air were the materials explaining the truth about Dafa. Many people immediately began to read the contents in the flyers. People were happy to hear the truth and they also picked up flyers falling onto the ground and shared with each other. Policemen and plainclothed police at the park did not feel anything unusual about the event and did not react negatively.

December 25^th, some streets were painted words such as "Falun Dafa is Good" in red. These words are still there now.

December 27^th, in a residential area of a large factory, many cloth banners with the words "Falun Dafa is Good" were hung on the trees and many red signs of "Return the Righteous Name to Falun Dafa" were painted.

December 28^th, in the Communist Party College of the Municipal Party Committee in XX City, many Falun Dafa materials and red-paint-letters were sprayed on banners and appeared on residential buildings, classroom buildings, buses, cars, and electric power poles. The big red words painted on the door to classroom building, "Falun Dafa is Good" which made all perpetrators of Dafa filled with fear

December 29^th, many districts of XX city had Falun Dafa materials and banners in display. Banners like "Falun Dafa is Good," "Falun Dafa is Righteous," and "Return the Clean Name to Falun Dafa" were painted on the door of the Railway Police Sub-Station, walls of Detention Centers and even on Police Cars.

[Sanshui City, Guangdong Province] Sound of Falun Dafa Heard Twice on New Year's Day

During this great historical period of Dafa, rectifying the universe; in order to celebrate the new century, practitioners from Guangdong Province set up three sets of loudspeakers near both men's and women's camps of Sanshui Forced Labor Education Center. At 1:00 am and 4:00 am, practitioners there broadcasted twice an article from Minghui Net, several of Teacher's recent articles, and Fa lectures.

Sanshui Forced Labor Education Center has jailed several hundred Falun Dafa practitioners. It uses all kinds of mental and physical tortures to punish them. It has also organized a "transformation delegation" to travel around and make speeches in other Forced Education Centers of Guangdong Province. Those practitioners who refused to give up their belief will be the punished by physical tortures, extended prison terms, and the threat to forbid visits by family members. They are exhausting all methods of torture and inhumanity in a desperate attempt to "transform" practitioners.

[Southwest China] Practitioners Take Action to Validate Dafa

After studying Teacher's recent two speeches at the Fa Conferences, practitioners took action to validate Dafa at the end of December. On December 24^th, practitioners distributed 2000 floppy disks with files telling the truth of Dafa. In the days after that, many practitioners went to streets to distribute printed materials, post flyers and hang up banners. From narrow pathes to wide streets, people could see and read Dafa materials almost everywhere. Even some police cars had flyers glued to them, with contents like "Suffocate the Evil" and "Calling to Release All Illegally Detained Dafa Practitioners." A young engineer had chosen an especially meaningful waydistributing a lot of Dafa materialsto celebrate his birthday.

[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner from Shengyang Seriously Injured As A Result of Police Beating at Tiananmen Square

Practitioner Shi from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, male, is around 30 years old. He went to Tiananmen Square to unfurl banners on December 19, 2000, and was seriously injured by the police, who beat him with clubs. His head swelled and was covered with blood as he passed out on the ground and lay motionless. Police abandoned him upon seeing his critical condition. Fortunately, some other Dafa practitioners came to his aid and escorted him home. He is currently recovering from his injury.

[Changchun City, Jilin Province] What My Eyes Have Seen: Heizuizi Labor Education Camp Cruelly Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

I am a practitioner who came out from Heizuizi Women's Labor Education Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. I have personally experienced and witnessed the cruel persecution on Falun Gong practitioners in this labor camp.

Practitioners are forced to work 16 to 17 hours a day, and could be beaten or shocked by electric batons at any time. Several guards took turns shocking practitioner Yang Shumei, for over an hour. Her face and head were full of blisters as a result. It even took several days before she could manage to swallow food due to her distorted features. Practitioner Deng Shiying, from Jilin City, was tied up to a death-roll-bed while being electrically shocked. Furthermore he was then sent to the Sixth Team to be tortured some more and consequently threw up mouthfuls of blood. Despite this, there was no rest in sight as he had to continue work, which amounted to more than 10 hours a day, and write self-criticisms in the evenings. Four practitioners Xu Gongchun, Tian Xiuhua, Zhang Yuhui, and Fang Xiuying were tied up on death-roll-beds with all four limbs stretched out and fixed over 20 days. Only out of the fear that the inspection team would catch note of this did the guards at the labor camp decide to release them from the beds. None of the four practitioners could move their arms or legs. Even now, Tian Xiuhua, has not been able to move her arms freely. Guards viciously beat practitioner Mu Chunmei, from Huadian, with electric prods, then had her bent face downwards with the hands pointing to the sky, and finally, dragged her to the Education Section for a heavy beating in the evening. Guards could not pry open practitioner Huang Jingru's mouth while she was on hunger strike, so they inserted tubes into her nose and force-fed her. She almost died from suffocation. After that, she was handcuffed underneath a bed for continued torture. Guards applied electric shock to practitioner Deng Xiaobo, by sticking electric prods into her mouth to force her to eat; but she still did not chew on a piece of food. Practitioners Liu Yan and Li Yanhong and several others were stripped to the point that they were left with only short underpants, and were then electrically shocked by six guards simultaneously. The screams were unbearable for others to hear. Practitioner Geng Wanzhen almost died from being shocked by electric batons. The labor camp was afraid that she would die there, so they secretly sent her home. Practitioners Han Cuiyan and Weng Yuejie, from Siping City, were sent to mental hospitals after they had gone through tortures by electric prods, death-roll-beds, and being handcuffed and hung from bed-poles. Practitioner Wang Xiufen was locked to the death-roll-bed in a freezing room. She was not allowed to put on quilts or cotton clothes when windows were opened to freeze her. She also frequently received electric shocks. Under such persecution, she suffered from schizophrenia (mental disorder) and was later sent home by the labor camp.

The above are only a snapshot of the full horror that I have seen with my own eyes.

[Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Viciousness of Masanjia Labor Camp and the Steadfastness of Practitioners

Masanjia Labor Camp in Liaoning Province resorts to extremely cruel means to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. They tortured practitioners physically with various instruments of torture in order to force practitioners to give up their adherence to the universal principles of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Forbearance). 29-year-old female practitioner Lin Yan from Huanggu District of Shenyang City is one example of the numerous practitioners who have been persecuted. Lin Yan went four times to Beijing to appeal, and was sent to labor re-education camp on October 27, 1999. In order to force her to write repentance statements, four guards from the labor camp instigated four inmates to apply electric shocks to her by beating her with electric prods, stamping on her feet, stretching her arms so that she could not move, and strangling her. As she was in extreme misery, she took a sharp awl and pierced her chest where her heart was located. She'd rather die than write "renouncements."

The 17 centimeter (1 inch = 2.54 centimeters) long awl stayed in her body for 36 hours, while Lin was forced to continue to participate in the heavy labor in prison until she passed out due to weakness and was later found by prison guards. She was then sent to the hospital. In order to restrict information, no family members were allowed to visit her in the hospital. As soon as stitches were removed, guards took her back to the labor camp. Neither her doctors nor nurses agreed to her removal from the hospital, and they regarded this as a serious inhumane action. The guards responded that they needed to "take her back to educate others." Within 7 days of her returning to the labor camp, she was engaged in physically demanding labors. Later when her brother went to visit her, she told the guards to tell her brother that no way she would accept "transformation," and she would believe in the Dafa always.

[Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Practitioners on Hunger Strike for Over 50 Days

A labor camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province should have released some practitioners whose detention terms were over. However, these practitioners are still being held. Practitioners came to realize that one cannot look away and tolerate the evil. Some Dafa practitioners vowed to a hunger strike; some lasted for over 50 days. Six practitioners passed out when hanging themselves (who later were rescued). These great Dafa practitioners were firm in their beliefs. They withstood the horrible treatments by the camp officials at the cost of their lives, and some practitioners were even released as a result.

[Weifang City, Shandong Province] Brutal Acts of Changle Labor Camp in Weifang City

A new round of cruel brutality of suppression on Falun Gong practitioners started in October 2000 under the personal authority of Jiang Zemin.

Changle Labor Camp in Weifang City gathered close to 100 Dafa practitioners and brought them to the 2^nd Team. Actually, what they carried out was an utterly cruel persecution. They selected fierce and vicious gangsters as thugs to execute extremely inhumane acts of torture towards practitioners; in an attempt to force practitioners to write "repentance statements" and to renounce their faith. This was to fulfill the request of high-level government officials.

One practitioner's arms were a little short and he could not reach his toes. A thug stepped forward and kicked heavily on his knees. As a result, the practitioner's legs were swollen and he had difficulty walking.

They also stripped several practitioners completely of their clothes, and held them to the ground while pouring cold water onto their bodies. High-pressured water coming out of hose hit their mouths and noses and almost suffocated them. Among them was a 68-year-old practitioner who trembled heavily from the cold water. He was then pressed into a water vat of the largest size to be soaked for a long time. These thugs further displayed their most wicked nature and used scissors provided by prison guards (used for cutting threads in textile factories) to pierce Dafa practitioners' soles. Some practitioners had blood all over their feet. Thugs stayed up the whole night to prevent practitioners from sleeping or talking among each other. They resorted to all means of persecution to physically torture practitioners. They wanted to achieve the goal of forcing the practitioners to write either true repentance statements or at least a pretense of transformation for them to report to Jiang Zemin's minions as their transformation successes. However, practitioners denied their requests.

Another evil guard threatened, "We have plenty of time. If one year is not enough, then we'll spend two years. Let's see who has strong backbones and can last till the end."

Currently, about one hundred Dafa practitioners in Changle Labor Camp are still being tortured. The wicked acts seemed to have little effect on the practitioners, who only wish to safeguard their belief in the cosmic principles of Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truth, Compassion, Forbearance)

[Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Announcement from Practitioners to Jiang Zemin's Accomplices

It is said that the persecution of Dafa practitioners in Nanchang City will be stepped up after the arrival of several of Jiang Zemin's accomplices from Beijing since they illegally detained Dafa practitioners with the excuse of holding so-called "Block Transformation Classes." Those who practice Falun Gong were classified into different types ---very firm, not very firm, practicing at home secretly, afraid and did not dare to practice---to be "transformed."

All the Dafa practitioners in Nanchang City kindly explained to Jiang Zemin's accomplices and those who participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa about the truth:

"We hope that you immediately stop the crimes of persecuting these kind hearted Falun Gong practitioners. If you continue to maliciously slander Dafa and harass our normal lives recklessly, we will leave for Beijing and other cities and villages all over China to validate Dafa, expose the crimes of Jiang Zemin and his accomplices and tell the truth about Dafa to more people."

Zong Xiaoyan, female, 43 years old, was detained for half a month in 1999 for going to appeal and was again further detained for a total of 45 days for exchanging experience with other practitioners and for practicing Falun Gong outdoors. During the National Day Holidays in 2000, she went to Beijing to validate Dafa and was instead imprisoned, sentenced to one year of forced labor education by Nanjing Donglu Police Substation. Before she was sent to Jiangxi Women's Labor Camp, she had already been on hunger strike for more than 20 days and was in poor health condition. The result of her physical examination at the hospital was: irregular heart-beat, high blood pressure, atrophy of internal organs. The labor camp did not dare take her in. However, Wu Qiang, the policeman from Nanjing Donglu Police Substation, forced her into the labor camp.

The Bitter Experience of Nanchang Dafa Practitioners in Beijing

Police (police serial number: 023815) from Xicheng District Police Station slapped the faces of practitioners whenever he saw them. One practitioner described, "I was slapped in the face for more than 10 times. Also, I saw him punch a practitioner in the head viciously with his fists. After a while, he said, 'Ouch, my hands hurt,' and he then used a car plate to beat the practitioner some more. The practitioner's head bled from the beating." This is just one of the cases. We sincerely hope he stops these horrific acts of inhumanity. He does not know the true consequences of his brutal actions.

[De'an County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Local government brutally persecutes Dafa practitioners

Dafa practitioners in De'an County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, stepped forward in succession in order to uphold the dignity of Dafa and prove that Dafa is not XX. They went to the Appealing Bureau and Tiananmen Square in Beijing to validate Dafa and tell the truth about Dafa to the people. Consequently, the courageous Dafa disciples were conversely brought back and detained in De'an County Detention House for more than one month and were only released after paying a fine of 2,000 Yuan each (about 3 months of average salary in China). After they were released, they were given but a mere 180 Yuan for living expenses for the whole month (the average monthly salary in an urban area is about 700 Yuan). Some Dafa practitioners were even dismissed from work or transferred to another post, expelled from the Communist Party, or had their salaries reduced. During the oncoming days, the local police would again detain practitioners without reason, bug practitioners' phones and make them live under surveillance. Dafa practitioner, Lan Minghua, was sent to a labor camp secretly. Nevertheless, Dafa practitioners all have a very determined hearts and continue their struggle without fear. From October of this year to the present day, more than 20 Dafa practitioners went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal. They were escorted back and detained till now. As a result, some practitioners became homeless, and their whereabouts were sadly unknown. The local government denied all the good deeds done by Dafa practitioners and acted against the law for their own personal interests. Their conscious is unmoved by the true implications of their most selfish actions

[Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] The Futian Detention Center Under Disguise

It is well known that the Futian Detention Center in Shenzhen City is a "model" and "civilized" detention center. However, from recent findings, it is clear that the guards are not the well-polished models some would like to believe. For instance, whenever visitors and inspectors came, they arranged to allow visits only to the "visiting cells." With nice facilities, these cells are very clean and in good order, but hardly offer a truthful picture of the place. The prisoners detained there have been trained to reply politely to the questions asked by visitors or inspectors. Their reply is usually something like, "We eat and sleep well," "Our lives are not bad," and "The detention center also listens to our complaints." This is sheer nonsense and far from the truth, as the authorities have cleverly disguised the prison guards as having kind and sympathetic attitudes towards the prisoners. Their most deceptive efforts are misleading people and give one the impression that it is a "civilized and model detention center."

The real facts, however, are not like what is carefully presented on the surface. Most of the prisoners detained are people who are waiting to be sentenced. Once a production project comes, for example, processing high-quality semi-finished dress materials -- weaving beads in clothes, and making high-quality shoes for export, it will be very urgent. Because of the urgency and the time required to provide the goods, the guards would become anxious when the work needed to be redone. Each time, each person had to make about 15 or 20 items within a couple of days. Even for those who can work fast must spare no efforts. Moreover, they have to work hard, even compromising eating and sleeping to fulfill the quota. Despite swollen faces and eyes, they continue to work diligently. They are fully aware of the horrible treatment if they fail to finish the assignment in time. The situations for those whose work needs to be redone or for those who are slow are sadly worse. The guards were unmerciful with their conduct and would ruthlessly beat the buttocks of these people using plastic pipes and leather whips. Yet, this is still not the end, as one still needs to continue to work after the vicious beatings. Guard Li Xiaozhen, is the only person who does not use the torture instruments, the reason being, her feet are even more terrible than the torture instruments! Her pet phrase is " I'll kill you in one kick!" Since she is a specially trained police, her one kick is enough to make a person fly across the room. When visitors and inspectors come, those in charge, would hide these semi-finished goods and make the prisoners continue to work on them after they left...

The kind-hearted Falun Gong practitioners were forcibly imposed the fabricated charges by Jiang Zemin and his accomplices, and were inhumanly treated. As an extreme measure they sacrificed themselves and went on hunger strikes, determined to reach people's conscience. One of the former principal leaders of the Municipal Women's Federation, suffered all kinds of tortures during her 18 days of hunger strike. The prison guards instigated prisoners in the cells to beat her. Those criminal prisoners are like tigers and wolves coming all at once, beating and cursing her also force-feeding her. They even coerced a prisoner to pry off her two front teeth. Blood dripped down her face yet, the criminals dare say, "Her teeth are not strong enough." During the period of her hunger strike, the prison guards teased her, while eating watermelon and drinking pops, by mocking her and speaking sarcastically to her in order to "re-educate" her. Practitioners who do not cooperate with them are punished either lightly such as being forbidden to buy goods, standing long hours, and depriving them of sleep etc., or heavily, such as two hands being handcuffed from the back and stretched up, being kicked, and beaten with fists and leather whips.

[Fengrun County, Hebei Province] Numerous Dafa Practitioners Arrested

Since October 2000, numerous practitioners have been arrested in Fengrun County, Heibei Province, mainly for distributing materials that expose the truth or for going to Beijing to make appeals.

Most of them were detained in "Xiaobali Transformation Study Class" (some have been escorted to Tangshan City). The specific situation of those practitioners in the Center remains unknown. However, it is said that they are in very bad conditions and policemen are very vicious.

As far as I know, Ren Yuxiang and Ren Yuling are sentenced to three years in a labor education camp. They were arrested in Tiananmen Square in October.

Liu Guoxiang, was arrested in 1999, for validating Dafa and has been kept in the detention center ever since. She was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor. According to some practitioners, "My suffering is nothing compared with that of Mileriba"--."" is the word that Liu Guoxiang, used to say after she was beaten.

We don't know what happened to the other practitioners who were sent to labor camps.

[Anqiu City, Shandong Province] Breaking into Private Residence---Breaking the Law while Enforcing the Law.

At about 4:00 p.m. on December 27, 2000, four to five plainclothes police broke in while Xu Jingping, and another practitioner were exchanging cultivation experience at another practitioner's home. They jumped toward Xu Jingping, like vicious wolves, pressed him on the bed and handcuffed him and took him away. Such bandit behavior occurred under broad daylight at the so-called "best time of human rights in China!" Only Xu Jingping's shriek echoed in the quiet yard.

It is said that Xu Jingping has already been sent to a labor education camp. We don't know what brutal tortures that kind and gentle Xu Jingping is suffering right now.

[Beijing] More Practitioners Jailed

Wang Gengwang, male, 40 years old, was arrested and sent to one year of Forced Labor Education in Tuanhe Labor Camp, because he displayed a banner at Tiananmen Square on March 13, 2000. He was known to be very firm in the labor camp. It was learned recently that he was transferred secretly and nobody knows where he is.

Fangbin, male, 37 years old, was arrested at home for no reason on December 22, 2000. Police from Beijing, Chaoyang, Police Substation, also confiscated his house. Nobody knows where he is detained.

Guo Weiming, male, 32 years old, was arrested from his home for no reason on December 22, 2000. Nobody knows where he is detained.

[China] Enlightenment from Reading Minghui

In the past, I had the attachment of fear. On the one hand, I was thinking of stepping forward to validate Dafa; on the other hand, I was afraid that I couldn't bear the beating after arrest. Recently, I read some of the articles on Minghui and began to understand the deeper content of the law embodied in Zhuan Falun. I got rid of the attachment of fear thoroughly. In one article on the web, I read that one Beijing practitioner, who was forcibly injected with "psychotropic drugs" in the detention center, recited "Lunyu" in his heart again and again, as a result, the medicine had no effect on him. I also read that some practitioners went to Beijing to display their banners. They were arrested and handcuffed. When the policemen were away, one of them got out of the handcuff because of his firm thought to "not to be taken away by the evil." He told the others, "Quick, Master is helping us." And the other practitioners got out of the handcuffs as well. They went back together safely. I also read that one practitioner passed the test easily by reciting Hongyin (Grand Poems) again and again, when beaten by the police.

From these examples, I understood the Teacher's words, "...the good or the evil comes from the instance thought of a person, and the differences of the thought can bring about different consequences." (Zhuan Falun, English Version, p.163, line 22, Falun Fo Fa Publishing Company, April 1998) "Everything within the field of your dimension is dictated by the mindwill from your brain." (Zhuan Falun, English Version, p.232, Line 13 from bottom, Falun Fo Fa Publishing Company, April 1998). When our hearts are in the Fa, when our thoughts are in the Fa, we, as well as the field around us, are free from the regulation of time here in the human dimension. "How can the time here regulate matter from other dimensions? It does not whatsoever." Besides, our whole bodies are replaced with high-energy substances, except that the very superficial layer of molecules is being rapidly broken through. "An ordinary person cannot tell the changes in you from the appearance. Your cell molecules still retain the original structure and combination. The structure does not change. Yet the energy inside it has changed..." (Zhuan Falun, English Version, P75, Line 2 from bottom). Therefore, the most important element in passing the test of physical torture lies in your instant thought, as to whether your thought is in the Fa or not. If it is, we should be the "Senior Arhats in the human world" that "even the gods and ghosts are quite afraid of."
