[Mainland China] Be Cautious of Police Traps
Beijing practitioner Zhang Lin (alias name) from the Asian Games?village is a new practitioner who started practicing last November. She was laid off because she openly defended Dafa at her job. This year, after July 20th, she went to Tiananmen to hold a banner, and was detained for three days, after which she was released. On August 29th, the police called her to have a chat at her home. When they arrived, they asked her to accompany them to the police station for some verification procedures. Through deception she was taken from her home, and ended up being sentenced to the labor-education camp for one year. Another practitioner was also deceived by public security, and sent to the labor-education camp, the same way. According to some sources, all the practitioners who are currently detained, in detention centers, for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong will be set free for 2 to 3 days. ( Because most practitioners are on hunger strikes at the detention centers, the police let them return home to eat something during this short period.) Afterwards the police will take the practitioners directly from their homes to labor-education camps. Here we have a special reminder for Dafa practitioners: please pay attention to your safety when handing out materials. If you do get arrested, its better to move around frequently after being released.
(Mainland China) Be alert to sudden searches - government focuses on the spreading of information over the Internet
According to information from within the government, to achieve its goal of eradicating Falun Gong within 3 months, the government has put the focus of the crackdown on the news spreading over the Internet. It regards practitioners doing this as being against the government in an organized and intentional manner, and therefore, treats them as organizers and active members. They have singled out those who have computers and access to the Internet from their current list of practitioners, and will conduct unannounced searches. Practitioners please be prepared, take safety precautions, and have good habits for safetys sake. Copy files from the computer and put them in different places; delete unnecessary information and file records. Take the trouble of copying it back to the computer; dont store material at home. Being responsible to yourselves is also being responsible to Dafa. Because there are so many lives still waiting for us to spread the Fa to them, to clarify the truth to them and save them. We should thoroughly use the wisdom of a Dafa practitioner and leave no convenience or loopholes for the evil to sabotage Dafa.
[Mainland China] CCTV reporter says CCTV must fabricate news on Falun Gong
One day this summer, a Dafa practitioner saw a man wearing a CCTV T-shirt at a local shopping mall. (For the safety of the practitioner, the name and location have been omitted.) This practitioner then went up to him and asked, " Are you a reporter from CCTV?" He said "yes". The practitioner then asked, "How come you CCTV always make things up in the news?" "Make what up?" the reporter asked back. The practitioner said, "On Falun Gong." The reporter then said, "Well, dont you see, its for politics, the political tasks set from above, nobody wants to do those things? Then this practitioner had a chat with him. The reporter said he had no choice in this kind of immoral and unprofessional conduct as it was ordered by the authorities.
[Mainland China] The police detain people without reason, leaving children unattended
Dafa practitioner Tang Huibin, a former local contact person at Xingzi county, Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province. He has a 10-year-old son at home. On July 14th, a county policeman named Zhu Ping arrested Tang Huibin without cause, and sent him to a labor-education camp for 3 years. The 10-year-old boy is alone at his home. There is nobody to takes care of his studies and daily life. The boy is lonely, helpless, and it is quite heartrending. The society has expressed strenuous disapproval towards the county police station for their casually arresting and detaining people without legal cause, and they have asked them to release (Tang Huibin), but the authorities have not responded to their request.

Li Li, a teacher at the National College of Public Procurators of the Chinese Supreme Procuratorate, was laid off in May 2000 because of her firmness in cultivation of Falun Gong, and was given a half year to move out.
Now the mother and son face a homeless situation.
[Mainland China] Female practitioners abused by police; prison torture necessitates double amputation.
Female practitioner Chao Guilian from Zhangjiakou city, Hebei province is in her 30s. During the "two meetings" time this year, she went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested. After she was sent back to the local police station of Wuyi Road, the police chief and two other policemen brutally took off her underwear, and beat her rear with washboards, saying obscene words like "today beat your rear, tomorrow beat your front". Some practitioners from the same city appealed to the related government unit about this without any response from the government.
Female practitioner Zhang Zigen from Zhangjiakou city, Hebei province is in her 30s. She was detained because she went to Beijing to appeal, and has been detained at the detention center of Xuanhua, Hebei. During her detention, the police severely beat and tortured her, causing necrosis in her legs. The police beat her severely then informed her family to come for her. The family observed that her upper legs were badly beaten, black and blue, and had lost all sensitivity. Her family then sent her to the hospital. The hospital had no choice but to amputate, leaving her with only the upper portion of one leg. Soon after the upper portion of the leg also deteriorated and had to be amputated. Even facing such a tribulation, practitioner Zhang Zigen is still firmly cultivating Dafa.

Female practitioner Fan Yaxiong of Zhangjiakou city of Hebei province is in her 30s. She was arrested and detained on criminal grounds at the detention center of Xuanhua, Hebei province because of her appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing. After she was released, she went to appeal two more times, and each time she was arrested and sent to the Shaziling Mental Hospital of Zhangjiakou city, and was detained there and tortured. At the end of July, she was sent to Tangshan labor-education camp. Her recent situation is unknown.
[Mainland China] Police Chief sent to labor camp for appealing for Falun Gong
The former chief of Zhangjiakou detention center of Hebei province, surname Bai, is a Falun Gong practitioner. After the government started the crackdown, of Falun Gong, last July, Chief Bai went to Beijing to appeal. He was arrested and sent back for detention, and was deprived of his title of chief of the detention center. At the end of July, he went to Beijing to appeal once again and was sent to labor-education camp.

[Mainland China] The encounters of Yan Baoshuang
Yan Baoshuang, female, 36, resident of Chaoyang District in Beijing, her hometown is Sanhe City of Hebei Province. In 1999, the Chinese government adopted a series of high-pressure persecution policies on Falun Gong. In order to uphold the universal truth, Yan Baoshuang appealed twice. She was thrown into the Sanhe Detention Center, based on information on her identification card, after being arrested. She was detained for a total of more than 50 days. In the detention center, she continued to practice Falun Gong exercises. The police twisted her arms behind her back with one from above the shoulders and one below, and then tied her thumbs with mini-handcuffs. The police then pressured her about whether she intended to continue practicing. If she answered yes, the handcuff would be pulled up, and the weight of her entire body would be hung on the two thumbs. She passed out twice due to the pain, but she always answered yes. In her cell, there was a murderer who was surprised to see Dafa practitioner Yan Shuangbao so undaunted and asked why it was, and what, after all, is Falun Dafa. She came to learn from the answer that Dafa was the truth that teaches a person to be a better and still better person, and regretted that she didnt hear about this earlier. She started to learn Falun Gong. She was tied up and beaten up by police as well. When asked if she would continue to practice, this former murderer replied yes even as resolutely as Dafa practitioners. The great selfless spirit of Dafa practitioners has transformed the heart of even a murderer, yet the hearts of the police are colder and more vicious than that of murderers.
During the Spring Festival of the year 2000, Yan Baoshuang went to Tiananmen to petition again. In the square, she protected those practitioners holding up banners with her own body. She received multiple injuries to her body. Her eyes were swollen, and remained so for many days. She was then locked into the detention center of a local police station in Chaoyang District. In the detention center she was made to sit on the cold cement floor in late winter for a long time because she insisting on practicing. May 2nd, she went to Tiananmen Square to unfurl a banner, and was detained and thrown into Chaoyang detention center, and no one knew about what further suffering she endured there. On June 18, without due process, and without notifying her family members, Yan Baoshuang was sentenced to a labor camp. Afterwards, her family was notified that she was sent to Tuanhe Labor Camp in Beijing.
Yan Baoshuangs husband went to Tuanhe Labor Camp to visit her but was rejected by the police without being given a reason. Dafa practitioners are good people who do not sek fame or interests, and should not be treated as enemies or prisoners. However, at present they have not only become prisoners, abut also been further deprived the right of receiving a visitor. No one knows the current situation of Yan Baoshuang, and no one can confirm whether she is still at Tuanhe Labor Camp. Her husband is anxious to hear from her. Her 8-year-old child wants to have mom nearby just like all other children. Her elderly mother, who was illiterate has become able to read Zhuan Falun after studying Dafa, is not willing to see her beloved daughter sentenced as a criminal because of her daughters adhering to Dafa, which she herself has benefited from. Kind-hearted people around the world, please pay attention to the situation of Dafa practitioners like Yan Baoshuang.
[Mainland China] Li, Jr. a Beijing practitioner went to unfurl a banner at Tiananmen Square on June 25th. That day, there were about 500 Dafa practitioners at the Square. The banners were unfurled all over the Square. It lasted altogether over 50 minutes. The banner held up by Li, Jr. and her fellow practitioners lasted over 10 minutes. During this period of time, no matter how they were beaten by police, they held on with their teeth clenched and their eyes closed. After being detained, Li, Jr. was transferred to Haidian Detention Center because she didnt give her name. In the detention center, she went on a hunger strike for 7 days without drinking any water. There was another practitioner from outside Beijing. She was arrested because she practiced exercises together with Zhao Xin (A practitioner whose neck vertebrae were fractured by police in Beijing). This practitioner went on a hunger strike for 14 days, and the police poured cold water on her for an extended period of time. Afterwards, both of them were "exiled for penal servitude" to Baoding by train. That other practitioner didnt have a penny. Li, Jr. had a little more than 10 Yuan (8 Yuan is worth about 1 US Dollar). Skimping and saving, they ended up with less than 1 Yuan in the end and could afford only 1 steamed bun. In front of a stand where steamed buns were sold, they asked to buy a bigger bun from the vendor. The kind-hearted vendor was sympathetic to them and gave them two instead. "After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!" The police might not have known that Baoding was the hometown of Li, Jr. They finally found relatives there, and managed to get back to Beijing, and plunged again into the immense stream of assisting Teacher.
[Mainland China] One late night in July, two self-proclaimed public security officers in a certain place of China broke into Dafa practitioner Zhong Hainings home. Without displaying any identification, they started ransacking the room. Without going through any legal procedure, they took away several thousand Yuan worth of deposit receipts (equivalent to several months?income), cash, and all Dafa materials. These items have not been returned. Afterwards, they sent Zhong to a detention center on no grounds. In the detention center, Zhong Haining (gender not clear) was shackled and handcuffed because of a hunger strike. Later Zhong was force-fed through the nose. At first, Zhong was force-fed once a day, and then twice a day. After each feeding, blood was all over Zhongs nose and mouth. The last time when Zhong was force-fed, lump after lump of blood came out from Zhongs nose, and what Zhong threw up was all blood, as well. Among those who stood beside Zhong there was someone who claimed to kill her/him anyway by force-feeding. It was said that if Zhong continued on the hunger strike, he/she would be force-fed four times a day. Practitioner Zhang Lidan (female) was force-fed at the same time. Zhang was kicked by others because of practicing the exercises, and then whipped, and was held by force beside a water pool and was doused with cold water. In the end, she was almost thrown into the pool to be drowned. They were then put in handcuffs. Even after they stopped their hunger strike, they were still shackled and handcuffed with their hands and feet together. They were not allowed to take showers. Also, Dafa practitioners Yang Qingqing and others practiced the exercises rather than being coerced to work. They were kicked while doing the sitting meditation, whipped, handcuffed with arms crossed in the back, and, at times, even two people were handcuffed together.
Practitioners in Qujiang went to Beijing to uphold Dafa in July. And because of this, 11 of them were sent to labor camps by force. The sentences were from 1 to 3 years. None of their families were notified when they were sent away. Afterwards, some family members went to the special group taking care of this case and the public security bureau to ask for information. However, they were told that there is no need to come back without bringing money. Also, practitioners Maos family was notified to evict Mao from their home before a preset deadline, otherwise the entire family would not be allowed to stay where they are. At present, Mao has no place to stay.
[Mainland China] Practitioners?encounter in the detention center of Chaoyang District, Beijing
I am a female Falun Dafa practitioner. I went to Tiananmen to appeal this May, and was detained by the police in this detention center together with other practitioners. Immediately after we arrived at the detention center, we began a hunger strike and did the exercises. Warden Wang Xiaoli started to beat us and handcuffed us to prevent us from doing the exercises. At that time, we were assigned to cell 9 in section 6. There were altogether four Falun Dafa practitioners in cell 9. We continued on the hunger strike. One day, the inmates in this cell also announced that they refused to eat anything. They said to us that they would not eat anything unless we resumed eating. We realized this was a trick the detention center used in an attempt to get us to eat. At first, they put the meals in front of us to allure us to eat, but failed. Later, the warden and some inmates who helped the warden persecute us practitioners got angry and started cursing and beating Falun Dafa practitioners. Four of us were beaten. In order to carry out the forced feeding, they used tooth brushes to open the mouths of the practitioners. They also used the pants that were contaminated by menstrual blood, of other female inmates, to gag us to prevent us from screaming and to cover up their brutality.. Even after such torture for a whole day, Falun Dafa practitioners never gave in. The detention center ended up failing in their attempts.
I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I went to Tiananmen to do the exercises with five other practitioners on May 8, 2000 for the purpose of validating the righteousness of Falun Dafa. We were beaten and dragged by the policemen from Qianmen Police Station to a police van. After we were thrown into the van, they lowered the curtains and then went back to beat three young female Falun Dafa practitioners. They tried so hard to drag them to the van by pulling their hair that two bunches of hair were uprooted. In addition, a middle-aged policeman humiliated us as she beat us practitioners and said, "Am I beating a human or what!" At that moment, the faces of two female practitioners were beaten red and swollen. The behavior of the policemen was no different from that of bandits. In todays China that claims to rule according to the Constitutions and laws, such brutal actions have occurred under the bright sun. It is indeed a shame for the Chinese people.
In the afternoon of the same day, I was picked up by the Xianghe Police Station. Three oclock in the morning, I was forcibly transferred to the Chaoyang District Detention Center. Upon arrival at the detention center, I started a hunger strike and did the exercises. At that time, I was assigned to cell 9 in section 6, where there were 4 Falun Dafa practitioners as well as 20 other inmates. This cell was the most demonized of all. As soon as we started to do the exercises, we would be handcuffed or our hands would be tied up with towels or ropes. Warden Wang Xiaoli asked, "Why do you want to go on a hunger strike?" We answered, "We are innocent, because Falun Dafa is a righteous law and principle that is based on "Zhen (truthfulness), Shan (benevolence), Ren (tolerance). We request to be unconditionally freed." From then on, warden Wang and some other inmates who assisted the warden in persecuting us practitioners shouted and cursed at us everyday, but we simply tolerated it. It was a Sunday on May 14, 2000. It was a day that we were not supposed to be strapped to the bed. Instead, we were supposed to be allowed to walk around. However, that day was even more incredible and bitter, as if the Great Cultural Revolution recurred. It was scheduled for all the inmates to eat steamed buns that day. Other inmates waited impatiently until the warden sent the meals in, but the warden disallowed them to because Falun Gong practitioners refused to eat. So, the warden disallowed all other inmates to eat, too. The purpose for the warden to do so was to arouse the hatred of the other inmates toward Falun Gong practitioners, so that Falun Gong practitioners would be suppressed and punished by other inmates. At that time, we said to the inmates that it was the warden who did not allow you to have the meals, and we also urged them not to be taken advantage of by the warden. We asked them to eat the meals themselves, but no one of them dared to. In the beginning, 4 of them, led by the head of the cell, tried to forcefully feed us by pressing us against the floor, holding our arms and hair, and inserting foods to our mouths rudely. They then beat us when they failed in the force-feeding, causing many bruises on our bodies. The most senior practitioner among us was 53 years old, and the other 3 of us were women around 46 in age. We were all beaten for a whole day just because we refused to eat. At 8:30PM that night, warden Wang and some other inmates brought in soybean milk and initiated another round of force-feeding. An inmate called Li Hong said to other inmates loudly, "Give me the dirty, stinking panties that have been contaminated with venereal disease virus. I will use them to wipe their mouths. After I forcefully feed once, you will wipe their mouths once." As a matter of fact, she did not even feed the milk to our mouths. Instead, she poured it to our necks. Two inmates held our arms, one inmate pulled our hair backwards, one did the forced-feeding, and one wiped our mouths with the dirty panties. In the end, we were wet all over our bodies. As soon as I opened my eyes after the force-feeding and looked at them, the head of the cell shouted at me immediately and said, "You still got the guts to stare at me!" She came up and slapped me heavily on my face for 6 times, and I was dizzy and felt pain in my ears. However, I was calm in my hearts at that moment. I firmly remembered Teachers words, "The tribulations a genuine practitioner can experience are something that an everyday people can not forbear." I truly refrained myself from fighting back when beaten and swearing back when cursed and treated them with compassion, because I understood that they have lost their minds in their pursuit of personal interests. The above is a true account of what is happening at the detention center in Chaoyang District, Beijing.
[Mainland China] Jiang Zemin crackdown on Falun Gong without any legal grounds
According to the information coming from within the government, there have not been any legal, formal documents of the Party or the Administration passed down from the Central government to the lower ones, including the police systems, since Jiang Zemin suppressed Falun Gong in Mainland China a year ago. From the time when a crackdown order was given to when the order was carried out, there have been no legal or administrative documents of the state whatsoever to back up the suppression on Falun Gong.
There have been some guidelines for the suppression on cults mentioned in the editorial articles of Peoples Daily, but the name of Falun Gong was not referred to. After analyzing these, people generally believe that such a crackdown was based only on the intention of a few people in the central government including Jiang Zemin, and it was not at all a legally grounded state policy. The suppression of Falun Gong is just a tragedy illegally created by the few people in the Chinese central government who exercised the power politics.
