[Beijing] The banner of "Falun Dafa Is Good" was flying over the Great Wall
On October 26, a practitioner from mid China hung some banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good" on the Great Wall. Everything went smoothly, and he had already left when the police came.
[China] Distributing Dafa materials all over the city: Nanchang, Jiangxi Province; Dalian, Liaoning Province and Taiyuan, Shanxi Province
On the night of October 2, practitioners from Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, posted 80,000 copies of factual material and flyers stating "Falun Dafa Is Good", "Falun Dafa Is a Righteous Law", everywhere in the city, such as streets, newspaper booths, trucks and cars, bus station signs, etc. Most practitioners returned home safely, although a few were arrested.
It was an agreeable day in Dalian, Liaoning Province, on November 4. When people were shopping, several thousand copies of flyers disclosing the evil deeds were dropped down from the fourth floor of a big supermarket. People rushed to pick them up and read them carefully. All practitioners returned safely.
Practitioners from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province have stepped forward to tell the truth of Falun Gong to people. They have already distributed several thousand copies of truth-telling materials.
[North America] Practitioners from Los Angeles spread Dafa at presidential candidate's campaign site
On November 2, 2000, President Clinton came to Los Angeles and gave a speech to support vice President Gore's election campaign. The site of the speech is inside a large mall. At about 1PM, thousands of people were waiting in line to enter. Fifteen practitioners wearing bright yellow T-shirts arrived. They held banners saying "Please Support Falun Gong". During the next two hours, 3,000 flyers were distributed to tell people the truth of the persecution against Falun Gong in China. During the process, one policeman noticed the practitioners and asked if we got the permission for this activity. Since we didn't apply for permission, the police reported to his supervisor and the answer was that they support our activity. Practitioners realized that for this kind of activities, we should obtain detailed information beforehand and obey the regulations of the police. We also felt that there are more and more kind-hearted people supporting Dafa.
[Hebei Province] The police electric-shocked female practitioners on private parts
At the end of July, many practitioners went to Beijing to safeguard the Fa. Since many practitioners did not tell their names, detention centers in Beijing could not hold so many practitioners, and some were sent to nearby cities or counties. Practitioners who were sent to Yuanshi county of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province were pressed by iron sticks to the ground. Two policemen stepped on the sticks and rolled on practitioner's bodies. Practitioners were brutally tortured. One female practitioner was hung in the air over a bar on the ceiling for two days and one night. In Jingjing County, all the male policemen forced female practitioners to take off their pants. These policemen then beat and electric-shocked them. Female practitioners suffered inhuman ruin and humiliation. Unable to stand such maltreatment, female practitioners, in tears, told their addresses. Wu Xiaoping from Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, was tortured by male policemen with electric shocks on her mouth and vagina for a whole night. She was then sent back to her hometown, and no further information about her since then. Li Naimei, 50 years old, is from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Half of her breasts had been cut as a result of the breast cancer before. But the policemen severely electric-shocked the wound on her breasts and the places between her legs. These parts all turned purple-black from the electric shock.
[Beijing] A 15-year-old girl was beat because her parents practice Falun Gong.
In mid July, one practitioner and his daughter (15 years old) were taken away by Secretary Zhou of Chengguan Street Administration Office. This girl's mother had already been sentenced to labor education. This practitioner and his daughter were beaten and electric-shocked by the hatchet men under Zhou's order. The girl rolled on the ground from the beating. Because her body was dirty due to the tortures, the hatchet men forced her to take a bath and then tortured her for one week. This kind of things happened very often to local practitioners.
[Shanghai] Many practitioners from universities in Shanghai have been arrested.
Around October 26, Deng Rong, Chen Huijing from Shanghai Economy and Finance University; PhD student Liu Xueyan, graduate student He Binggang (has been forced to leave school), Jiang Bin and Jiang Wei from Fudan University and Xu Weifen from Tongji University were arrested. Some of them were arrested because Dafa materials were found from them during the search. He Binggang and Xu Weifen had been detained twice because of validating Dafa.
[China] Practitioners from Shenzhen, Yunan, Xinjiang and Sichuan were arrested.
In mid September, the police in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province took sudden action. They rushed into practitioners' homes and took Li Fulin and other practitioners away by force. This forced other practitioners to leave their homes.
In early October, Pu Zhiming, Shen Yaoping and their kid, Deng Zhixu and a dozen other practitioners from Qujing city, Yunnan Province went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. Some of them escaped, while others all have been sent back to their hometowns. Their homes were ransacked.
Liu Hanyu from Yili, Xinjiang Province went to Beijing to peacefully appeal in July and has been detained since then. Liu's relatives have received arrest warrants. Another practitioner, Chen Hongwan, is possibly in the same situation as Liu. Recently Yili City arrested more than 20 practitioners.
Tan Shuqun, from Niuhua Town of Wutongqiao District (Leshan, Sichuan province), went to Beijing to appeal and was intercepted half way in May. She was sentenced to one year in labor camp. Another four practitioners were also sentenced to one year in labor camp.
[Yuci, Shanxi Province] Dafa practitioners were arrested for no reason
On February 25, 2000, more than 10 Dafa practitioners from Yuci were arrested for no reason when they went out for personal business. A practitioner and his four family members were detained illegally. Other practitioners were released after being forced to hand in 1,000-3,000 Yuan bail. Practitioner Bai Koushun used to be a pharmacist in the military. The government did not arrange his job for many years after he was transferred to the local area. Recently, he found a job but was put into jail soon afterwards. His family has fallen into dire strait since then. Now his wife has to find a temporary job cleaning streets to support the family (their child is of school age). Practitioner Wang Qingsheng and his wife did not receive their salaries very often. Their two children were both laid off and the family is destitute. They are currently detained illegally. We call on people with goodwill to raise their concerns and help those practitioners.
[Fangshan District, Beijing] Dafa practitioners from Fangshan District were arrested when doing group practice
In mid July, fourteen Dafa practitioners from Fangshan District went out and practiced in a group. Secretary Zhou of the local Chenguan administration office came along with a gang of hired roughnecks. They took all of the practitioners to a dirty and crude garage. It was very hot at the time and it had reached 40 0C (104 0F). In the crowded garage, they did not allow Dafa practitioners to drink water or go to the bathroom. They took turns to beat and shock every practitioner with electronic batons. They especially shocked the sensitive parts of the body. They forced the practitioners to touch the wall with both hands and squat down. Female practitioner Liu Xiuchen could not even move after the torture. They also tortured an elder practitioner who is over 70 years old. They released the practitioners after each of their families was forced to hand in 2,000 Yuan.
[Fangshan District, Beijing] The evil deeds conducted by Fangshan policemen
Around September 20, Secretary Zhou of the local Chengguan administration office sent several men to practitioners' homes. They were very afraid of that practitioners would go to Beijing to appeal, therefore they kept watch on those practitioners. One of them cursed Teacher and Dafa in a practitioner's home. He also asked the practitioner to curse with him. When the practitioner refused, he continued on by himself. Several days later, this wicked person was cut on the neck by a knife. He is still suffering in the hospital now. This is what called evil will be reciprocated with evil, even in this lifetime.
On September 30, a policeman from Chengguan local police station came to a female practitioner's home when she was taking a shower. He took her away forcefully without allowing her to finish the shower. Her son (who is not a practitioner) went to the local police station to look for her but was beaten and kicked for two hours and handcuffed in a torturous position. He was crying out loudly because of the unbearable pain. Later, the practitioner was taken into custody at Fangshan local police station.
On October 6, Shi Baomin and three other practitioners went to Tiananmen Square to validate Dafa. Afterwards they were brought back by the Hebei police station of Fangshan District. The policemen forced them to knee down and then 6 or 7 policemen grabbed their hair and beat them up. They also whipped the practitioners with iron strips. After one hour's torture, the practitioners' faces were all blue and swollen. Their bodies were also covered with bruises. Later on, the practitioners were taken into custody at Fangshan detention center.
[Shanxi Province] The situation of the persecution of Shanxi Dafa practitioners
Liang Hong: male, 40 years old, is on the faculty of Shanxi Agricultural Science Institute, Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. He was the former deputy director of Taiyuan assistant center. On July 20, 1999, he was taken away from his home and has been in custody ever since. His house was ransacked.
Yang Wenyu: male, 29 years old, employee of Shanxi Mineral Service Bureau, was taken away from his home on July 20, 1999 and has been in custody ever since. His wife was expelled from her job because of this. She was pregnant at the time and had to stay at her mother's place.
Qiao Hongmei: female, 33 years old. She was taken away from her dorm at the Provincial College of Communist Youth League on July 20, 2000. She was sent to labor camp for one year.
Pei Xiuyun: female, 35 years old, lawyer, she was taken away from her home and has been detained since July. Her computer was also confiscated.
Xu Xiangdong: male, 50 years old, doctor of Shuiximen Tuberculosis Hospital, he was detained for 15 days after appealing on October 27, 1999. In December of 1999, he was arrested when he tried to sit in the trial of former members of Dafa Research Society. On April 25, 2000, he was taken away from his home and sent to labor camp for a year.
Sun Guobao: male, 35 years old, official at provincial Transportation Bank, Master's degree. His wife does not have a job. On January 9, 2000, he went to visit the Tiananmen Gate Tower. Since everyone who went up there was required to curse Dafa and he refused to do so, the police took him into custody and then sent him to labor camp for one year.
Hou Lijun, male, 28 years old, was arrested when he went to Beijing to appeal on January 3, 2000. He was then sent to labor camp for one year. The policemen ordered the inmates to burn him with cigarette. Hou was tortured so bad that his entire body was covered with bruises. He became very thin and weak. His mother Kang Shuqin, former deputy director of the assistant center in Taiyuan, was arrested on July 20, 1999 and was detained illegally for 45 days afterwards. In April, she was detained illegally again for more than 50 days because of writing an appeal letter for her son. On July 20, she was taken into custody and sent to labor camp for one year.
Wang Zhigang, male, 25 years old, was detained in January after going to Beijing to appeal and sent to labor camp for a year.
Shi Yanqing, female, 61 years old. On July 19, 2000, she made several phone calls from her home and was suspected by the policemen to have a gathering at her place. The policemen took her away from her home and put her into custody for more than 50 days. She was released after handing in 10,000 Yuan bail. Her elderly mother had been worried very much for her daughter and her mind broke down. She passed away the second day after Shi was released from jail.
Yang Ming, female, 35 years old, was taken away from her home for no reason sometime before July 20.
[China] Practitioners' experiences of making phone calls and using the Internet bar in China
1. Recently, while a practitioner of Zhengzhou, Henan Province, was making a phone call to his friend overseas, he sensed something wrong with the telephone. He left immediately. As expected, two police cars rushed there within a minute and stopped at the place where the practitioner made the phone call.
2. In early October, a practitioner tried to page other practitioners and failed twice. When he talked with other practitioners about this, they said recently they could not receive paging from practitioners. Usually, this rarely happens and it is indeed very strange. They realized that the paging system has already been monitored.
3. At an Internet bar in Taiyuan, a practitioner needed to use another machine and went to ask the users of another machine. The two guys there told him very impatiently to "wait". The practitioner had to wait. At the moment, the owner of the Internet bar came and whispered to the practitioner "They are policemen. You can not afford irritating them, you'd better wait!" So they were plainclothes policemen staying there to keep watch on the Internet bar! The practitioner calmly finished what he was doing and left.
