THE FOLLOWING IS ONLY AN INCOMPLETE LIST. WE WILL UPDATE THIS AS WE RECEIVE MORE REPORTS.

Chinese government blocks the passage of information in all means, including:

1. Forcing domestic peoples to be silent by using their dictating power like army and police;
2. Preventing international media, even those physically in China, from obtaining the first-hand facts;
3. Spreading lies all over the world after cutting the contact between people and foreign media.

As early as before July 20th, Falun Gong practitioners had already been harassed, wiretapped, tailed. However, the situation became extremely severe after July 20th and the persecution towards Falun Gong was escalated as shown in the records below. Thus, this report is divided into two parts:

Part 3 From September to October

September 3, 1999

Mainland China

• It is heard that in recent days, practitioners who go out to practice are arrested, some stayed in the police department for one or two days, some are still not released until now, some are put together with the criminals. The living conditions are very bad! The situations in other regions are even worse and practitioners are under more pressures. Because of going to appeal, my relative's personal freedom was restrained for about 10 days.
• There is a practitioner from northeast of China, he was interrogated by police department right after he came back. Then, he was place under house arrest by his working unit for half a month.
• It is also heard that practitioners in rural area of Hebei province are asked to pay fine. If practitioners do not pay the fine, they will be beaten. (Some beating cases also happened in countryside of Beijing).
• In the morning of September 3, four college students were arrested when they were practicing Falun Gong on campus.

Mainland China

• In the morning of September 4, practitioners were surrounded by policemen during their practice. Practitioners were taken to police office and interrogated. Everybody expressed their firm resolution toward Dafa. Some practitioners were released after leaving their name. Some practitioners were summoned to police office again around noon. Nine practitioners were detained at Dengfeng police station. Three of them left after turning in the fine of 100 Yuan, the other six practitioners were detained. One man was detained at the detainment station of Lushun City and the other five women were sent to Dalian.
• In the morning of September 5, two practitioners were arrested during their practice and were asked for fine. They realized that they didn't violate any law and it is their right to practice in the morning. They were detained for refusing to turn in any fine.
• Shichang police station arrested a total of five practitioners. It is said that they would be detained from 5 to 15 days.

Yantan City, Shandong Province

• At the night of September 8, the police department and neighborhood office went to search the practitioners' homes without prior notice and asked the practitioners to provide information regarding recent activities of Falun Gong. The practitioners who were arrested on 7/22 and 7/3 and later released are strictly monitored, they have to report if they go out. The neighborhood mobilizes the practitioners' neighbors, working units and relatives to monitor the practitioners. Some neighborhood offices even used the excuse of helping the practitioners to clean their electronics in order to check what the practitioners are doing at home. The normal life of practitioners is seriously interfered and they even can not visit their relatives because it may get their relatives involved.
• On Sep. 8, the Security Department of Beijing announced that any activity related to Dafa is prohibited including private practice. Any gathering of more than three practitioners is illegal.

Shenyang, Dalian and Other Cities in Liaoning Province

• Starting from the midnight of July 20, 1999, the Chinese government carried out a large-scale illegal arrest of key contact people of Falun Gong in different parts of the country. Many other Falun Gong practitioners then went to the local governments to appeal for the release of the innocent arrested people. Public security departments, which had been well prepared, immediately dispatched armed policemen equipped with electronic sticks as well as sticks made of hard rubber in order to disperse the armless Falun Gong practitioners, including senior citizens of seventy years old and pregnant women.
• Besides beating the practitioners who came to appeal, they also detained many of them. They threw them into a big bus and took them to a school. They forced them to leave their names, working addresses, home addresses, telephone numbers and their signatures. The detained practitioners were not released until 10pm. Food, drink, and toilet were not available for a whole day.
• On the street, cabs and buses could be stopped suddenly by the police. The police officers would check passengers' bags and luggage. Once someone was found to carry Falun Gong books, he would be taken away immediately.
• In the countryside, the situation was even worse. Country officials and public security officers beat up people more violently. If they knew that any Falun Gong practitioners had gone to the town to appeal, they would immediately ransack their home, and seize all the Falun Gong books or pictures, and also their money and properties.

• Those arrested Falun Gong practitioners were divided into three categories. The first category consisted of key contact people. The so-called important members made up the second category. Common practitioners were in the third category. Practitioners in the first two categories were kept in individual cells and treated as political prisoners. For the first seven days and nights after their arrests, they were not allowed to sleep. They had to do hard labors during the day, and at night they were interrogated. Such was the fatigue tactics adopted by the police. During the interrogation, the police officers shouted loudly at the practitioners in order to force them to submit to the mental torture. Those who were considered as important prisoners by the police were forced to change their names. When their family members inquired about them, the police would tell them that there were no such people. When interrogating practitioners, police would call their imposed new names. Practitioners had to answer "Yes" loudly. Otherwise, they would be beaten up brutally.
• For the first two weeks after their arrests, practitioners were not allowed to change their clothes, nor were their families allowed to send them clothes etc.
• Only 165 grams (4.4 oz) of food were allowed in each meal, which only had steamed buns that had become mildewed and turned sour. The soup was made of some mashed vegetable leaves with some salt added. No oil could be found in a whole bowl of soup. The food was simply not enough.
• Common arrested practitioners stayed together with prisoners in the jail. A single bed was assigned to two people. Thus two people had to take turns to sleep. They were allowed to go to the restroom for only twice a day.
• During the day they were forced to do hard labors. Some women were forced to knit one sweater per day. If they could not finish it, they would not be allowed to eat and sleep. Those who did not know how to knit were forced to learn. Moreover, these practitioners could be interrogated at any time.
• Although the treatment was so cruel, most practitioners always treated themselves as Falun Gong practitioners by following the teaching of Falun Gong. They did not even forget to introduce Falun Gong to prisoners around them and to help them to begin new lives as good people.

Actual events happened in a detention center in Dalian, China

• The following are all actual events that happened in a detention center for women. There are now still over 50 practitioners being held there, they generally received inhuman treatments.
• One practitioner was handcuffed to an iron gate from 6A.M. to 9 A.M. the next morning. She was forced to stand there and was not allowed to go to the bathroom. If she needed to use the toilet, the other practitioners had to help her out with a bucket. And she had to be fed by other practitioners.
• A practitioner was handcuffed to the iron fence in the prison in such a way that she could not completely stand up and could not completely squat down either. She was locked in such a painful posture for a whole day without access to toilet facilities.
• Two practitioners were handcuffed together back to back and were forced to stand for 2 days. Because the handcuff was designed to tighten up upon movements, the guard at the prison had to loosen it for at least 3 times a day, otherwise, their hands would be completely ruined. During these 2 days, they were also denied access to toilet facilities and had to reply on other practitioners' assistance. In order to avoid burdening other practitioners, they had to fast.
• Another practitioner was considered a "stubborn one" by the police, hence she was handcuffed for several days without being released. Because she did not want to burden the other practitioners to feed her and assist her, she fasted for 7 days and 7 nights. It was not until she fainted for several times that the police finally released her to avoid causing death.
• Also, the practitioners are often beaten and sworn at by the guards inside. Except the few practitioners, who are considered as the important ones by the police, are being locked up in single cells, the majority of the remaining practitioners are locked up with some prostitutes. Therefore, they often have to also endure slanders, beatings and dirty words from these prostitutes. There is a young girl who is only 16 years old, she is also locked up in the detention center simply because she practiced the exercises in a park. One day, a prostitute started beating this young girl, and another practitioner said: "You cannot beat people!". Then that prostitute used her handcuff to hit this practitioner's head 3 times, immediately causing her head to bleed.
• It is said the detention centers for men are even more inhumane...

Right now, there are still many prisons in China detaining many Falun Gong practitioners. The majority of these practitioners suffer some inhuman treatments.

Changchun City, Jilin Province

• In Changchun city, more than 800 practitioners were detained, including pregnant women, women who were breast feeding, and the handicapped. Around 400 practitioners went on a hunger strike for four days and were dispersed to different local police stations.

Dalian City, Liaoning Province

• Professor Tortured to Lose Consciousness for Practicing Falun Gong

Zhu Hang, female, Associate Professor of Department of Humanity and Social Sciences, Dalian University of Science and Technology, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China

She was arrested while practicing the Falun Gong exercises in a park on Aug. 30, 1999. In the Dalian YaoJia Detention Center located in NanGuanLing, she went through unimaginable suffering, inhuman treatment, and torture.

She was tortured with the "Di Lao" (translated literally as the "prison in hell") device that held her immobilized, unable to use the toilet or eat on her own. She fasted for 7 days and nights and lost consciouness, and was sent to the People's No. 2 Hospital in Dalian City to recover.

Because of the "Di Lao" device, her left foot is currently swollen to almost double its original size. Her right foot is better now but still has many injuries.

• Real Stories of Falun Gong Practitioners in a Detention Center in Beijing

Qiliqu detention center in Changping County, Beijing, detained many Falun Gong practitioners. In order to ask the police to report their appeals to higher authorities, sixty detained practitioners began a hunger strike on Sept. 7. Most of them refused to eat for 8 or 9 days. During the strike, they had to endure 2-3 hours of interrogation every day. Some were yelled at, beaten up or punished by the police. On the morning of September 9th, the police forced them to stand under the burning Sun for three hours even though they had not eaten anything for almost 3 days. Some practitioners vomited and became dehydrated. But the police did not allow them to drink water or take a rest. They beat those who could not stand any more .

Ms. Xihong Zhang and practitioner "No. 4" had been on strike for 10 days but they were still chained. The hands and feet of Ms. Zhang were locked together so that her head almost touched the ground when she walked. On the evening of Sept. 14th, a chief officer returned after getting drunk. The policemen in the Office 5 of Pre-trial Department used whatever instruments were at hand, such as belts, iron wires, screw drivers, to torture practitioners until they got tired or hungry. Even so, they would still punish them by forcing them to bow 90 degrees with their hands elevated behind them. The policemen tortured them until they got hungry or until those they were torturing almost lost consciousness.

Another practitioner, Guo Fen-Ren, was beaten by a policeman using a string of keys and there was blood all over her face.

Practitioner "No 10" was beaten by the police with a screwdriver and her eyes got injured.

There was a little girl whose lower lip was split because of the beating.

Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province

• Ms. ZHAO JINHUA OF SHANDONG PROVINCE WAS TORTURED TO DEATH FOR PRACTICING FALUN GONG

Ms. Zhao Jinhua, age 42, a resident of Zhaojia village, Zhangxing county, Zhaoyuan city of Shandong province.

On Sept. 27, 1999, Ms. Zhao was taken away by the Zhangxing County police. The police asked her if she would continue to practice Falun Gong. She said "yes", and they started to torture her. She lost consciousness on the morning of Oct. 7 and was sent to the county hospital emergency room. After she regained consciousness she was returned to the police and tortured again until 3 PM. She died en route back to the hospital this time. She was tortured with, at least, police electric clubs and rubber clubs, and electrified with old-style rotary telephones Her skin was broken all over her body except on her face. On the morning of Oct. 8, forensic doctors of Zhaoyuan City dissected her body. In the afternoon, forensic medical experts of Yantai City made another autopsy, reported as follows: Injuries and wounds on many parts of the body except the head: Deposited blood beneath the skin for a total area of 120 cm x 60 cm; Conclusion: death caused by beating with blunt objects.

• ZHU SHAO-LAN DIED DURING HUNGER STRIKE FOR FREEDOM OF PRACTICING FALUN GONG

Zhu Shao-lan, female, 50 years old, living at 29 Fudeli, Unit 4, Apt 66, Jinzhou city of Liaoning province, is another Falun Gong practitioner who is reported to die for her belief in Falun Gong.

On September 28, Falun Gong practitioners in Jinzhou collected signatures for an open letter intended to appeal for the freedom of practicing Falun Gong. Many practitioners involved were arrested. To protest against the injustice, more than 40 practitioners started to fast on the next day. Zhu Shao-lan was one of them. Two days later, she became very weak. On the fourth day, she started to vomit. The local police in Raoyang sent her to the hospital on October 5, and she died in the hospital on the morning of October 7.

The death of Zhu Shao-lan was another tragedy resulted from Chinese government's brutal suppression of Falun Gong and its inhuman mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners.

Menghe Town of Wujin City, Jiangsu Province

• Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Cheng Zhong Is Being Tortured in a Hospital for Mental Diseases

Cheng Zhong, Menghe Town of Wujin City, Jiangsu Province, 55 years old.

Local policemen asked me to give up practice of Falun Gong but I didn't give in.On the afternoon of September 28, some policemen took me to The Third Hospital of Wujin city, which is a hospital for mental diseases. In the hospital, They forced me to take medicines and tortured me with an electric instrument for 5 times. So far, it has been like this for more than ten days.

I am feeling very cold as I only have a T-shirt on me. My family does not know my whereabouts. I do not have clothes to change, nor can I shave.

In fact, the hospital, whose name is "humanitarian hospital", is detaining many people who appealed to the government for various injustice they received. It is an even worse place with much more cruel mental and physical tortures.

Northeastern China

• Falun Dafa Practitioners in Northeastern China are in Great Danger

There are still several hundred Falun Dafa practitioners detained in jails in Changchun. Some practitioners were brutally beaten. Regardless of gender, they were beaten with their clothes removed. There were wounds all over their bodies. The policemen even beat pregnant women. Ms. Xu was beaten while handcuffed and in a hanging position. Her back had wounds everywhere.

Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province

• September 8th. In order to make sure that no Falun Gong practitioners would go to Beijing to appeal during the week of National Day, the local government arrested about 50 Falun Gong practitioners, and has not released them yet.
• The practitioners received inhumane treatment from the police during their detention. Some practitioners were not allowed to sleep for up to five days, and some were not allowed to have any food for three days. After they were badly beaten up, they were warned that they should not reveal the mistreatment to other people when they were released. In the countryside, many practitioners were forced to pay a large amount of money, as a deposit, to guarantee that they would not go to Beijing to appeal.
• Some practitioners were sent to psychiatric hospitals and were detained together with patients. Wei Hua-yu, an employee of Jiaozhou Accounting Firm, and Tan Gui-hua, an employee of the Third Shoe Factory of Jiaozhuo, were detained in a psychiatric hospital and were injected with sedative (sleeping aid medicine) for over 20 days.

Heilongjiang Province

• Some Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by the police before October 1st and are still being detained. The length of their detention has already surpassed the 15-day maximum initially stated by the police.
• Zhang, Ling-de, 62 years old. On September 13, I went to appeal to the City Committee and was put into a detention center. They said I would be detained for 15 days. However, today is already the 31st day and I am still here.
• Tong Li. On September 30, Zhang Ge-mei, who works with me, and I said we would continue to practice Falun Gong. Police came to arrest us and detain us for 15 days. We are still in the detention center.

Jinzhou, Liaoning Province

• According to an officer in Jinzhou, someone in Chinese leaderships declared Falun Dafa as an "evil religion". Jinzhou City government will take an extreme measure by sending 12 practitioners on hunger strike to a drug-stopping institute.

An Incomplete list of Falun Gong Practitioners in Zhaoyuan City of Shandong Province who have suffered inhumane tortures:
• Li Wen-nan, from Shanyujia Village of Jinling Town. At midnight of July 23rd, several people suddenly broke into his home and took him to the local government building. 5 or 6 people encircled him and beat him madly until he fell down to the ground many times and could not stand up anymore. Later an X-ray examination in the hospital showed that there was internal bleeding inside his breast. For many days he could not work after he went back home from hospital.
• Wang Cui-qin, from Liujia Village of Jinling Town. The local government officials detained her at a room. Two people stood behind her and beat her with rubber clubs. Two people stood in front of her and beat her head and slapped her face. Her face was swollen because of the mad beatings. After they tortured her like this for about half an hour, they forced her to stand with her leg bent and with a cement road-pile on her shoulders. As soon as she moved, they would beat her madly for another half hour...
• Yu Ai-yun, from Yujia Village of Jinling Town. On the evening of July 21, she and the other 4 Falun Gong practitioners were dragged to the residential area of the local government officials. Local officials and their family members first verbally abused practitioners and started to punch and kick them. Brutal beatings last for 20 minutes.
• Yang Tong-wu, from Big Chenjia Village, is a retired senior gentleman of 78 years old. He was forced to stand barefooted on the asphalt road, which was as hot as 103 degrees, until his two feet were burned.
• Fu Ying-xia, from Big Qingjia Town. She was forced to kneel on the bricks with bricks in her armpits and with a wooden stick in her legs, until she lost her consciousness.
• Gao Yan, from Gaojialin of Nanyuan Town. She was hung up with a rope and tortured and lost her consciousness three times. After she lost consciousness, they would poured cold water on her face to make her regain consciousness so that they could continue the torture.
• Lu Chun-na, from Wanjia of Daqingjia Town. On October 5, she came back from Beijing and was seriously injured from being beaten up by the local government officials. She was then sent to hospital for emergency treatment.
• Wu Jian-ming, Zhang Shu-xiang, Wang Mei-feng, Liu Yue-jun and Du Wang-quan, employees of a Gold Smeltery factory. Because they refused to denounce Falun Gong, they were first detained in the factory's security office for 7 days and then detained in the city detention center for about 10 to 15 days. They were all fired the day after they were released.
• Zhao Jin-hua, Wang Hao-hong, Wang Feng-nan, Zhan Ke-yun and others practitioners from Zhangxing Town were taken to the local government and then to the local detention center. The police beat them madly with rubber clubs and electric clubs.Ms. Zhao Jinhua was wounded all over her body and suffered haematuria etc. On October 7, Ms Zhao was tortured to death at the age of 42. To cover the truth, the police sent her body to the city hospital without informing her family, and also claimed that she died of myocardial infarction. They also threatened her family members and forced them to write a statement to claim that she was not died of torture. When fellow practitioners went to hospital to visit Ms. Zhao, they were arrested and detained without any reason.
• Wang Shao-hua, an employee in the sales department of Jinling Town, was seriously injured from the torture on the evening of October 8. At one o'clock in the next morning he was sent home half died and was warned not to disclose what he had suffered to other people.
• Cao Zhi-ying and her niece were tortured for a whole night by the local government officials after they were taken back from Beijing. They almost died of the torture.Those who beat them also confiscated their money of 3,900 Yuan.
• Yu Ying-bin and his brother of Zhaoyuan Gold Smeltery were fined 10,000 Yuan. Liu Dian-jun and Zhou Jin-ling each paid a deposit of 5,000 Yuan. Yang Xiu-ying paid 2,000. Illegally confiscated properties include Yang Xiu-ying's computer, Liu Dianjun's tape-recorder, etc.

Jinzhou, Liaoning Province

• Wang Zhi-Hui from Jinzhou was arrested in Beijing in his attempting to appeal to central authorities on September 27 and was then sent back to Jinzhou detention center. He fasted for 7 days there. He was beaten up terribly. His gum became loose due to the brutal beatings. His whereabouts is unknown since then.

• Deng Shao-song, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Maoming. He was arrested in Beijing when he was there to appeal and sent back to Maoming detention center. He was beaten to lose consciousness by the police, and was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. The diagnosis was "broken skull and bleeding in outer retina." His left eye rim was black and swollen. He could not have any food. Currently, many Falun Dafa practitioners in Maoming are still being detained.

• In An-Shan City, Falun Gong practitioners Wang Wei, Hu Shu-zhi and Ning Gui-ying were arrested at home on September 24 only because they were contact people of Falun Dafa and detained in the local Yuemingshan Detention Center. They were hung up to a heating pipe and were beaten up for a whole night because they all declared to continue to practice Falun Dafa. So far, Wang Wei has not been released yet.

Shandong province

• The police in Guang County of Shandong Province force Falun Dafa practitioners to pay fines. Anyone who had gone to Beijing after July 21st must pay 3,000 Yuan. They also require everyone to pay 5,000 Yuan as a deposit to guarantee that they will not go to Beijing to appeal. Some Falun Dafa practitioners have no choice but to go to Beijing to appeal.

Changchun, Jilin Province

• Wang Yu-xiang and Sun Shu-feng, who are a couple, went to Beijing to appeal in September. The police sent them back to Changchun before they could appeal. They were detained until October 8. On October 13, Wang Yu-xiang was arrested again and was sentenced to one year of labor education. On October 15, Sun Shu-feng was also arrested and received the same sentence.

In Changchun, the government is pressing Falun Gong practitioners by appointing their family members as guarantors. Namely, if a practitioner goes to Beijing to appeal, his guarantor will become unemployed or be dismissed from school. One practitioner's daughter who is a second year high school student was appointed as her mother's guarantor. If her mother goes to Beijing to appeal , she will lose her employment opportunity.

Mainland China

• Five Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced to Labor Camp Without Trial

According to Agence France-Presses, five practitioners have been sent to a labour camp for one year without trial or notification of relatives, a human rights group said Thursday.

The practitioners were sent to a labor "reeducation" camp by police in the northeastern city, Changchun, last week simply because they went to Beijing to appeal, according to the Hong Kong-based Information Centre of Human Rights.

Jilin province

• After 4 practitioners from a factory were illegally detained and interrogated, the officials of this factory declared that they will not be paid but they are still required to continue to work everyday.

TWO MORE DEATHS IN CUSTODY

• Chen Ying, female, 18, a student from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. She went to Beijing to appeal to the central government at the beginning of August and was arrested. As she was being escorted back to Heilongjiang Province, she was ill-treated with unbearable threats, torture, and abuse by the police. This forced her to jump off the train which resulted in her death.
• Zhao Dong, male, 38, from Jixi City of Heilongjiang Province. He was arrested when he was in Beijing to appeal to the central government at the end of September. The police who sent him back to Heilongjiang Province threatened and cruelly tortured him. He jumped off the train with handcuffs and died.

• On this day, the police did not arrest those who went to appeal on the spot. Instead, the police followed them to the places where they stayed and then arrested them. About one thousand practitioners were arrested.

• At Beijing time 9:30am of October 25, a dozen Falun Dafa practitioners from Shenyang and Beijing displayed a 15-foot banner that read "Falun Dafa Practitioners' Peaceful Appeal" at Tiananmen Square. About 15 seconds later, about 20 policemen came over and beat those practitioners and took them away.

• I am an American Practitioner in Beijing and have just returned home from Tiananmen Square, where we estimate hundreds of arrests took place today. Police started arresting practitioners who gathered near the East Gate of the Great Hall of the People sometime early this morning. At least 21 police minibuses full of practitioners were seen leaving the area in the morning.

I personally witnessed the rough treatment the soldiers and plain clothes policemen gave the practitioners as they pulled, pushed and shoved them violently into police vehicles. One young lady was forcefully shoved into the trunk of a police car. This brutal treatment by the police is illegal even for criminals. I did not see any attempts to resist by practitioners, nor did any of them cry out.

• Before October 1, the national day of China, the Changchun local authority detained about 500 Falun Gong practitioners in order to prevent them from going to Beijing to appeal. Among them, there was an old couple in their seventies. They did not have any intention to go to Beijing, but they were still thrown into the Ba-li-bao detention center.

Among the 400 practitioners detained in the Ba-li-bao detention center, most went on hunger strikes, one after another, for periods varying from 3 days to 7 days.

Several days later, the police arrested many practitioners again without any reason. According to solid sources, the government decided to arrest 200 of those who had been on hunger strikes and sentenced them to one-year labor education.

The police had to release some people detained for criminal offenses in order to find enough room to detain Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners are being detained in many places, including Changchun's jail, drug-stopping institute and Ba-li-bao detention center. The exact number is hard to obtain.

Now most of the practitioners detained in the Da-guang detention center are on hunger strikes. As of now (October 25th), it is the 4th day. The police treat them brutally. They are detained in cells all day and are forbidden to go out or to be visited by family members. All their belongings have been confiscated. Currently, their situations in the detention center are quite intolerable.

HONG KONG, (Reuters)

• An estimated 10,000 Chinese university students face the threat of expulsion if they do not quit the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement, a Hong Kong-based human rights group said on Tuesday.
• Six students of Beijing's Qinghua University on Monday received notices from the university that they were suspended for two months because they practised Falun Gong, the Information Centre of Human Rights & Democratic Movement in China said.
• It said it had learnt the policy was set by the education department and applied across the country, where there were an estimated 10,000 university students who practised Falun Gong.

• WAN GUOPING CAN'T STAND INSULTATION AND JUMPED OFF A BUILDING AND GOT KILLED

Wang Guoping, male, around 40 years old, Shulan city, Jilin province. He went to Beijing to appeal to the central government and was arrested. Police tortured him with all kinds of instruments. He was stripped of his clothes and doused with cold water. Police also insulted him many times by pressing his head into a toilet. He was sent to the Beijing Office of Jilin provincial government on October 15. At around 3:00AM of October 17, he died from jumping from the eighth floor of that office building.

Changchun, Jilin Province

• Lu Rui-su (male) and Yang Wei-xia (female, 20) were thrown into the detention center on September 22. They were released on October 22 and each of them was fined 3,000 Yuan.
• When Zhen Gang and a couple of practitioners talked over the phone, they were monitored. Now three of them are being detained in the detention center in the Xiangyang area. They were illegally detained without having done anything wrong.

Chongqing, Sichuan Province

• Ms. Gu Zhi-yi, a Falun Gong contact person in her 60s in Chongqing, was arrested on July 19th. In the jail, she has endured 24 types of inhumane tortures, including the "Tiger Stool"(lash thighs on a bench and then bent legs to the opposite direction by adding bricks under the heels), piercing through fingers with sharp bamboo sticks, electric chair, and electric shocks by connecting the head and bottom, etc.  When Gu Zhi-yi was asked whether she would continue to practice Falun Gong, she answered "Yes" firmly all the time. Ms. Gu is still in custody.

DONG BU-YUN KILLED IN CUSTODY

• Dong Bu-yun, female, 36. An elementary school teacher of Lanshan District, Lin-yi City, Shandong Province. She went to Beijing to appeal on July 20. Later she was arrested in Beijing and was escorted back by the police of Lanshan District on September 20.
• She was then under the custody of the school and was not allowed to go home. The guard watched her day and night. She was required to write a pledge of giving up Falun Gong etc., but she refused. She would rather give up her job than give up Falun Gong.
• On the second day, it was officially reported that she jumped out of the building and got killed in the midnight. The police cremated her body in a rush before the noon. Fellow practitioners felt extreme grievance for losing such an outstanding contact person and suspect the cause of her death
