"The persecution of Falun Gong compatriots by some local officials has already reached the point where they are doing whatever they please," [lawyer] Gao [Zhisheng] wrote in the open letter. "We cannot accept these brazenly inhumane, savage atrocities to occur in the society of mankind in the 21st century."

CHINESE GOVERNOR MISSING FROM DELEGATION IN WASHINGTON DC AFTER BEING SUED
WASHINGTON DC (FDI)--On October 25, the chief perpetrator of the persecution of Falun Gong in Guangdong Province, Governor Huang Huahua, did not show up in Washington DC with a provincial delegation he was leading. Several days prior, during his visit to Canada, Huang was sued by Falun Gong practitioners and served with a court summons for his role in the suppression of Falun Gong in China. On October 17, U.S. attorneys also filed a lawsuit against Huang for torture. It is widely believed that Huang abandoned his own delegation lest he face further legal action in the U.S.

TEARS AND BLOOD IN DALIAN CITY: WOMAN RAPED BY CAPTORS, FORCE-FED FECES
NEW YORK (FDI)--37-year-old Ms. Sun Yan lived in Dalian City, and had been recognized as a "Model Young Worker" at Dalian Petrochemical Corporation where she worked. Since July 1999, however, when China's communist leadership launched the nationwide campaign to "eradicate" Falun Gong, Sun has been repeatedly abducted by authorities and held in detention centers and prison camps simply because she practices Falun Gong. During that time, Sun has suffered vulgar forms of torture, such as "hip splitting," in which victims are tied up spread-eagle and broom handles or sticks are thrust into their vaginas while they are beaten about the body. She was also force-fed feces and subjected to violent and repeated rubbing of the vagina with a knotted coarse rope until it swelled up. After suffering such torture Sun and other victims bleed profusely from the vagina, cannot urinate and, in some cases, become crippled. Today, Sun remains in police custody and continues to be tortured...

Ms. Qie Lili, a teacher from the Xili Elementary School in China, was arrested at the beginning of last year without reason. Currently she is being physically and emotionally abused in a forced labor camp.

Ms. Qie Lili, 27, was arrested and taken to Weiming Police Station on February 27, 2004. The arrest was made at 5:00 p.m. that day by a dozen plainclothes police officers led by Deng Fang, the deputy captain of the National Security Group of the city's police department. Ms. Qie was later handed over to Li Rongqi, captain of the National Security Group of Qiaoxi Police Department. The associate head of the Weiming Police Station, along with 610 Office police officer Wei Pingshan, were unable to provide a reason for the arrest. Under such conditions Ms. Qie refused to answer any questions or sign any documents.

At noon on February 28, Wei Pingshan and his cohorts took Ms. Qie to the Shjiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center. Due to the lack of proper documentation, the detention center refused to admit her. In order to try and get round this, Wei Pingshan called the Shijiangzhuang City 610 Office and told them to pressure the detention center to admit Ms. Qie. As soon as the Weiming Police Station staff left, the detention center called the police station to pick her up as they found that she had scabies. Despite their attempts, no one from Weiming Police Station returned the call.

While Ms Qie was at the detention center she could not eat or drink for an entire month. On March 27, Wei Pingshan and his staff dragged Ms. Qie to the Shijiazhuang Judiciary System Hospital for a checkup, but they could not find a pulse. Ms. Qie passed out when the doctor was using the electrocardiograph to check her heart condition. She was in grave danger because her heart was lacking blood. After being sent to the hospital, she was sent back to the police station, but the police refused to release her. Li Rongqi directed 24 men to take shifts watching Ms. Qie for fear that she might run away.

Ms. Qie began a hunger strike as a form of peaceful protest against the persecution being inflicted upon her and asked for bail on medical grounds. The following day, two nurses from the Shijiangzhuang Hospital of Chinese Medicine and several other policemen stepped on Ms. Qie's body and force-fed her. When they finished, they threw her on the floor like a sack of potatoes. She was force-fed like this three times. When Ms. Qie repeatedly asked them to stop their murderous acts, Wei Pingshan said, "I am just following orders."

Ms. Qie Lili vehemently demanded bail on medical grounds. It was said that the city and the justice bureau did not see eye to eye on this case. On March 30, two men wearing sunglasses from the city's 610 Office were escorted to see Ms. Qie. They took a look from outside and only asked a couple of simple questions without even going inside. Later, Wei Pingshan called Ms. Qie's family members and tried to force one of them to sign some document, but they all refused. On April 1, Wei Pingshan tried to coerce Ms. Qie to sign a notice for her to be sentenced to forced labor, but she refused.

The statement said, "A computer, some CDs, a photocopier, a sound system and a printer were found where she was staying. Based on this she is to be imprisoned in a forced labor camp for three years." In fact, Ms. Qie did not own the place where she was staying nor did she own such items. With no witnesses or evidence, they recorded nothing during Ms. Qie's interrogation.

When Ms. Qie was on the brink of death, the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp admitted her. She once again went on hunger strike as soon as she arrived. Lu Hongguo from the No. 5 Group of the camp and Dr. Xu from the camp clinic brutally force-fed her. They fed her a large amount of salt plus some milk and cornmeal. It was so salty that it was bitter. Lu Hongguo personally made the mixture and then used chopsticks to pry open Ms. Qie's mouth and teeth. He also held her to a chair and pinched her nose. Once they had inserted the tube they moved it around to cause internal damage. Every time they removed the tube, it was all bloody. After the force-feeding, they used plain tap water to rinse it and then used it again. Ms. Qie was infected for days. Seven days later, she was on an IV. They shackled both of her hands and restrained her arms and legs to force-feed her. Every day she received 2500 milliliters of liquid for ten days until she was all swollen and her skin was stretched and shinny due to the retained fluid. The police then used needles to poke Ms. Qie's fingers during interrogation.

In January 2005, Ms. Qie again went on a hunger strike and was again forced to receive an IV. They even threatened her that she would not be allowed to use the bathroom if she continued her hunger strike. They have fined her over 600 yuan.

Ms. Qie Lili refused to cooperate with the forced labor camp's brainwashing. In order to "transform" Ms. Qie, on April 27 the police started to deprive her of sleep. They forced her to stand 24 hours a day without resting. Ms. Qie was so exhausted that her head drooped and she almost collapsed. Some people told police officer Qi Honghong that Ms. Qie might die if such treatment continued. After 13 days, the torture was stopped and she was allowed to sleep again. From October 8-18, 2004, under the direction of Di Manli, the captain of the group, and Wang, deputy captain of the group, she again deprived of sleep. She was also kicked and punched until she showed symptoms of a heart attack.

While Ms. Qie was deprived of her right to sleep, she was forced to listen to those who had become collaborators smear Falun Gong. They cursed her and kicked and punched her. Such treatment escalated and they even threatened that if she did not "transform," she would be sent to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. Most people would not be able to bear four or five days without sleep. Some betrayed their consciences in exchange for freedom. Zhang Xianli, the director of the Shijiazhuang 610 Office, tried to deceive Ms. Qie into disclosing other practitioners' information by offering her an opportunity to be released, but Ms. Qie refused.

Ms. Qie refused to "transform" and remains faithful to her belief. At the labor camp, she was stripped of all of her rights. Other than going to the bathroom to wash herself, she has not been allowed to go outdoors for an entire year. No one has been allowed to visit her for such a long time that she has suffered depression. She now has symptoms of heart disease and is in danger of dying.

After Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Rongrong was shocked and disfigured by electric batons and murdered, all the world was appalled by this atrocity perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party. However, Ms. Dong Jingya, who once took care of Gao Rongrong after she had survived many tortures, is still being tortured.

When Ms. Gao Rongrong was detained in the hospital, Jingya paid a great deal of attention to her. After Rongrong was successfully rescued, she was in very bad shape. A fractured femur had become broken and her face developed disfiguring scars due to the electric shocks. She had experienced both physical and mental tortures. She was in such bad shape that she could not even raise her head. Nevertheless she had to face the black web of persecution that Jiang, Luo, Zeng and their evil regime had spun throughout the whole country.

Seeing what Rongrong had experienced, Jingya (who was also in the difficult position of being homeless in order to avoid the persecution) took upon herself the responsibility of caring for Rongrong. Under Jingya's attentive care, Rongrong's health gradually improved.

While Rongrong was detained in the hospital, she said to her family many times, "I am so eager to be free so that I can openly study the Falun Gong books, do the exercises and clarify the truth like my fellow practitioners on the outside." At the time, although Rongrong was very weak, she still tried her best to clarify the truth to the doctors and nurses she came into contact with.

Rongrong cherished the five months between October 2004 when she was rescued and March 2005 when she was arrested again. During these five months, she shook off the police persecuting her and was able to freely study the Falun Gong books, do the exercises, and produce materials to help save all beings. She was able to do the things she most wanted to do in her life.

In those days, the Jiang regime's lackeys were swarming everywhere, hunting. In the small room where Rongrong hid, Jingya looked after her so purely and benevolently.

The evil party in China suppresses Falun Gong practitioners with a fury. The unbridled persecution finally interrupted Jingya and Rongrong's quiet interlude. It was said that the police stealthily unlocked the door at 3:00 a.m. and illegally arrested Gao Rongrong and Dong Jingya.

Under the evil police's torture, Rongrong endured the last 100 days of her life. However, Jingya is still being tortured at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province. It is said that Jingya has been on a hunger strike for more than six months, and she is in critical condition. But the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp refuses to release her.

Gao Rongrong was tortured to death and Dong Jingya is still being tortured. Let's rescue Dong Jingya with our hearts and actions.

Mr. Ji Shuxian from Yanqing County in Beijing City was arrested and detained at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing in 2001. Due to severe torture, he became mentally unstable and had great difficulty walking. Under enormous and constant pressure and harassment from the Qianjiadian 610 Office and the local police, Mr. Ji exhibited stroke symptoms. After two years of extreme physical agony, he died on September 22, 2005.

Mr. Ji Shuxian, 66, was a retired worker from the Bureau of Livestock Agriculture in Yanqing County, Beijing. He lived in Shangnaishan Village, Qianjiadian Town, Yanqing County, Beijing City. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. Within six months of beginning the practice, his former illnesses--arthritis, lower back pain and leg pain from atrophied muscles in his left leg--disappeared. As there was a five-centimeter difference in the length of his legs, it was very painful for him to walk. He went to many hospitals and tried many cures, all in vain. Fortunately, practicing Falun Gong cured his problem and he was as full of energy as a young man. His neighbors said that he had regained his youth. His friends and fellow villagers were all amazed at the miracle of Falun Gong.

After the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began on July 20, 1999, Mr. Ji went to Beijing three times to appeal for justice for Falun Gong, but he was detained and fined twice. On May 17, 2001, Wang Youliang from the Public Security Bureau (formerly head of the Qianjiadian Police Station) led a group of 18 officials from the Bureau of Livestock Agriculture, the 610 Office and the police station to rush into Mr. Ji's home to "illegally arrest" him, but they were unsuccessful. Afterwards Mr. Ji was forced to leave home to avoid arrest. The authorities posted arrest warrants with his photo in many places, and his relatives in Hebei, Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces were all harassed by the police.

Wang Youliang arrested Mr. Ji on December 13, 2001. Thirty-eight days later, Mr. Ji was detained at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing City for a eighteen months. He was subjected to all sorts of tortures, including sleep deprivation, being forced to stand for many hours, being beaten with electric batons and slapped in the face, and having his food restricted to one corn flour bun and one piece of preserved vegetable per meal. Mr. Ji's blood pressure quickly went up to 210 and he couldn't walk because his legs were too swollen. He was also injected with unknown drugs.

When Mr. Ji came home after serving his term of imprisonment, he became mentally unstable. He had great difficulty walking and looked very weak. A month later, under the huge pressure and harassment from the Qianjiadian 610 Office and officers from the local police station (Cui Huixi and others), Mr. Ji exhibited the symptoms of a stoke. He was unable to speak and unable to control his right arm.

After two years of physical pain and mental agony, Mr. Ji passed away on September 22, 2005.

Ever since former president Jiang Zemin and his gang of scoundrels started the persecution of Falun Gong, Shenzhou Municipal Police Department chief Jia Shuangwan, and bureau members Zhang Yuanxiang, Yong Xiaodiu and others have been carrying out vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. From 1999 up to the present, senior police officers including Jia and Zhang have been breaking into law-abiding practitioners' residences and taking them to the police station for interrogation. They attempt to extort confessions through torture. Falun Gong practitioners who were "illegally arrested" have been subjected to inhuman torture and persecution.

The means used to persecute practitioners are brutal. The authorities frequently handcuff practitioners to water pipes and incite vicious people to grab practitioners by the hair and bang their heads against the concrete walls. Oftentimes, as a result of this abuse, the floor is covered in clumps of the victims' hair. The persecutors also strike the practitioners in the face continually until they are covered in swollen injuries that take several days to heal. Sometimes, practitioners' mouths are shocked with electric batons. These ordeals often leave charred, bloody blisters on the practitioners' mouths, which makes it impossible for them to eat anything for several days. They also beat the practitioners with thick clubs until the clubs break in half. Some practitioners were viciously assaulted while being handcuffed. They were continuously kicked until they fell to the floor, after which seven or eight police officers with electric batons would mercilessly shock the fallen victim until their entire body became numb. The electric shocks would also make the victim vomit.

Another torture employed by Jia and Zhang was to bind the practitioners' thumbs with phone wire, and apply electricity to shock the victims. The electric shock torture makes the victims feel extreme pain, their whole body becomes numb, and they become nauseated. The perpetrators also lift the victims up, hang them in the air and then drop them to the ground repeatedly. These torture methods disfigure and disable many practitioners, causing permanent damage. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Li'en was compelled to take her own life by jumping from a building after being subjected to such inhuman torture. [Editorial comment: The principles of Falun Gong require all practitioners to treasure life. One must not commit suicide or injure oneself to escape torture and persecution, even under the most extraneous circumstances. However, Jiang's scoundrel gang brutally tortures good people, and causes such extreme pain that sometimes a good person will suffer a collapse and behave badly, doing things that they would never do under normal circumstances.] In this environment, Dai Lianwei was persecuted to the point of a mental collapse.

In the spring of 2005, several Falun Gong practitioners who had been illegally arrested in Shenzhou earlier once again suffered inhuman torture at the hands of Jia and Zhang. The practitioners were each illegally fined 5,000 - 10,000 yuan before they were released. The Hengshui police also frequently threatened the practitioners, saying that if they refused to be "transformed" and refused to pay the illegal fines, they would be sent to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. The Hengshui and Shenzhou police plotted to divide the money extorted from innocent practitioners, and they also shared the task of beating, verbally abusing and threatening practitioners, using hypocritical deceit. The methods they engaged in were extremely vicious and cruel.

On the evening of October 11, Jia and Zhang, together with Yang Xiaodiu and Hengshui Public Security officials, once again went to Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Lanming's home, and without showing any procedural identification, confiscated his business computers and took him to the city detention center. That same night, these gangs of lawless police also made a stop at Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Xingcha's home with the intention of doing harm. Fortunately, Zhang Xingcha was not home and therefore the authorities could not carry out their plan.

At present, all shirts produced in the Tianjin Women's Labor Camp are for this one manufacturer. Most of the products are exported to Japan. Making shirts is high-volume and intensive work, all of which is done by hand, including sewing on collars, cuffs, front sides, shoulder crosses, buttons, button apertures, wristband knobs, and sleeves.

A higher price is paid for faster processing of the shirts, so detainees are required to work extra hours as soon as the order comes in. Detainees felt dizzy and suffered sore lower and upper backs after even the first day's work. Most of the older detainees could not endure such hard labor.

We hope that people with a sense of justice will pay attention to this matter.

Mr. Zhang Baiyong was born in 1965. He lived in a residential building of Changyi City Mills Factory in the Weifang District, Shandong Province. His wife worked in the City Embroidering Factory. They had a 13-year-old son. Mr. Zhang started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. He went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 1999 and was "illegally arrested." He was handcuffed and escorted back to Changyi City in the Weifang District, where he was illegally detained for several months. He was brutally beaten in the Dongyuan Police Station in Changyi. The police fined him and extorted thousands of yuan from him.

Mr. Zhang went to Beijing to "clarify truth" for the second time in July 2000 and was arrested. Police from the Changyi Police Department escorted him from Beijing and detained him in the Dongyuan Police Station. They handcuffed him to a tree and exposed him to the broiling sun for seven to eight hours when the temperature was as high as 38ºC (100ºF).

Mr. Zhang Baiyong was arrested several times for distributing truth-clarification materials. During his detention, he suffered all kinds of torture. In the winter, the police handcuffed him outdoors and poured cold water on him. In the summer, the police put him in a public marketplace and exposed him to the hot sun. The police hired a local vagabond to beat him mercilessly with a two-inch thick club until the club broke. When he was illegally detained in Weifang, he personally witnessed the police beat a young male practitioner to death.

After Mr. Zhang was arrested the last time in 2003, he held a hunger strike for nine days before he was released. After he returned home in 2003, he felt alarmed and anxious because of the persecution. He dared not stay at home and was forced to live like a nomad to avoid being re-arrested. In 2004, he had the symptoms of black adenoma cancer. He died at Changyi City Hospital on March 17, 2005.

Liu Qing and Ms. Jiao Wanhui from Jinzhou City Heavy Machinery Factory went to Tashan City on Hulu Island to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong on October 29, 2005. They were arrested by the local police. At 11:30 p.m. the same day, several policemen from the Taihe Public Security Sub-bureau and the Nu'erhe Police Substation illegally searched their homes.

At around 10:00 a.m. on October 30, some practitioners from Tanghezi and their family members went to the Tashan City police station to ask for information about Liu Qing and Ms. Jiao Wanhui. The police arrested over ten practitioners, including Ms. Liu Fengmei, Ms. Xu Xiaohua, Ms. Li Meiqiu, Ms. Chen Shuxian and Ms. Jiang Deqiu.

At 9:00 a.m. on September 22, 2005, a group of policemen led by Liu Jinghang from Qiaoguan City Police Substation suddenly broke into Mr. Zhao Yancheng's home. Without showing any documents, they illegally turned things upside down and took away Falun Gong materials. The police kicked Mr. Zhao Yancheng in the mouth. As a result he started bleeding from the corners of his mouth. Mr. Zhao was arrested and sent to the police station and detained there for one day.

Afterwards, for several days policemen from the station harassed him several times. At 9:00 p.m. on October 24, policemen from the Qiaoguan City Police Substation broke into Mr. Zhao's home and arrested him. His wife was not at home. Currently his whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Gu Xuemin from Zhoukou City, Henan Province, was arrested on the evening of October 20, 2005. Ms. Gu was followed and reported to the police when she was on her way to her older sister's. Without saying anything, the police took both her and her sister to the police substation. Her older sister is over 70 years old. Her sister was later released and Ms. Gu has since been tortured at the Zhoukou Detention Center.

At 6:00 p.m., Gao Feng, the Team Leader of the National Security Team of the Shanan Public Security Sub-bureau in Zhoukou City, followed by several other policemen, went to search Ms. Gu Xuemin's home.

Mr. Zhou Shuhai from Yichun City was arrested at his workplace on the afternoon of October 28, 2005. His home was searched. A laptop, a CD burner and a printer were confiscated.

On October 13, 2005, Ms. Pei Linying from Linqi City, Shandong Province was reported for clarifying the truth. Policemen from the Pingyi County Police Station arrested her that same day. Her 7,000-yuan bank book and 3,000 yuan in cash were confiscated. Later, the police demanded 3,000 yuan in "transforming" and brainwashing fees. Ms. Pei Linying was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. Her husband was sentenced to one-year probation. Afterwards her husband was forced to leave home and become homeless to avoid arrest.

Mr. Niu Lin from Guyuan County, Hebei Province, was arrested by the Guyuan County Police Department and sent to the Zhangjiakou Detention Center. The police used handcuffs to beat him on his head. Each and every day for two months, he has been beaten.

Ms. Li Xiaojuan from Harbin City, around 40 years old, resides at the dormitory building of the Dongli District Yama Factory, Harbin City. She was arrested by the local police on the evening of October 8, 2005. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Zheng Hongying, from Shijiagou, Xianyang Village, Nankouqian Town, Qingyuan County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, is an older woman. She was arrested while promoting Falun Gong in Xifeng County. Currently she has been jailed for over eight months at the Xifeng County Detention Center. According to her family she has been tortured and is now so extremely feeble that she is unable to walk by herself.

At noon on October 28, 2005, Ms. Wang Shouhui and her son went to visit Ms. Lu Deyan. They had VCDs and Falun Gong materials with them. They were followed and arrested by a policeman from the Changchun Kuancheng Public Security Sub-bureau. At the same time, Ms. Lu Deyan was arrested and sent to the Liuying Road Police Substation. The police confiscated Master's photos and Falun Gong materials from Ms. Lu's home.

Wang Shouhui, around 50 years old, has been tortured many times by Kuangcheng Disctrict and the City Police Department, the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, and the Tiebei Detention Center. Ms. Wang Shouhui's son (whose name is unknown) managed to escape the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp last year.

Ms. Lu Deyan is 59 years old. Her legs have been disabled since birth. She is less than 150 centimeters in height and had different kinds of diseases. After she started practicing Falun Gong, all her illnesses disappeared. Currently she is being jailed at the Liuying Road Police Substation.

On October 25, 2005, Zhang Changlin, the team leader of the National Security Team from Xinshi District, Baoding City, Hebei Province, followed by several other policemen, detained four practitioners including Mr. Li Shenli and Ms. Wang Liping. They are currently being jailed and tortured at the Baoding Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Wang Guanjuan, 55, a retired employee of the Management Department of Nankai Motor Factory, was sentenced for firmly practicing Falun Gong. She was released in January 2005. On September 26, Ms. Wang Guanjuan's home was searched again by Heping District Police Department, and she is currently being jailed at Heping District Detention Center.

13. [Tianjin City] Mr. Zhang Shaopeng Arrested and Remains in Detention

Mr. Zhang Shaopeng, 29, is from Tianjin, and is a lecturer at the Foreign Languages Department of the Social Science Institute, Tianjin University. Since he clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the students in his classes, he was suspended from his job by the school board. Afterwards he was arrested. He has been jailed at the Tianjin Heping Public Security Sub-bureau.

Ms. Liu Junhua, around 56 years old, resides at Liuxingtou Village, Liyuan Street Neighborhood, Pingdu City. At around 11 o'clock on October 29, 2005, Ms. Liu Junhua was arrested by the police when she was working at home.

Ms. Feng Yuping, 43, resides at Xiqigou Village, Mengcun Town, Pingdu City. She was reported because she was clarifying the truth at a supermarket on October 18, 2005, and was later arrested by the police.

Ms. Guo Chaoqing, 52, resides at Guanzhuang Village, Mengcun Town, Pingdu City. On or around October 31, 2005, Ms. Guo Chaoqing was arrested by the police and taken from her home.

On October 23, 2005, several policemen from the Lu County National Security Team, Shandong Province, led by Wu Peili, went to Guozhuang, Lu County and arrested Mr. Hu Zengxiang, a 68-year-old man. Mr. Hu is currently being jailed at the detention center.

Mr. Huang Zhaohui, born on January 4, 1977, is from Hefei City, An'hui Province. On October 30, 2005, he was arrested by police officers from Liu'an, and his home was searched. Mr. Huang's current whereabouts are unknown.

He has an 80-year-old grandmother and a one-year-old child. There is no one currently taking care of them.

Numerous Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Heishan County, Liaoning Province

On September 16, 2005, officers from the Heishan County Police Department illegally arrested a Falun Gong practitioner from his home and sent him to the Heishan County Detention Center. Early on the morning of October 25, officers from the Heishan Police Department broke into the home of practitioner Zhang Dongying and took her computer, printer, Falun Gong books and other things. They sent her and her husband, Li Zhigang, to a detention center. On October 29, the police arrested practitioner Wu Yongjie format his home. He is currently being held at the Heishan County Detention Center.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Xia Wencong from Wangcheng County, Hunan Province Illegally Sentenced to Forced Labor - Her Father Passes Away from Grief

By June 15, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Xia Wencong, 56, had served one and a half years of forced labor. At the time she was living away from home in order to avoid persecution, but was arrested by the police regardless. Ms. Xia is now detained at Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City. Her father, who is deaf, grieved terribly over his daughter's plight and died in July 2005.

On March 1, 2005, officers from the Hebei Police Department in Shenyang City arrested 42-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Shoujun who was distributing truth clarification VCDs. They ransacked her home and arrested practitioner Ms. Sui Hua, 50, and practitioner Zhang Lirong, 36, who were living next door. Zhang Lirong refused to give her name to the police and was taken to the police department where she was injected with an unknown drug. After the injection, she experienced weakness, nausea and other symptoms.

Group 2 of the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp is called the Strictly Controlled Group. Falun Gong practitioners are severely persecuted there. Bai Jinlong, the current group head, fanatically persecuted Falun Gong practitioners after he assumed this position in 2004. He savagely tortured many practitioners. In September 2004, Bai Jinlong invented a hidden torture method - "tying the legs." He ties up the practitioner's legs in the double-crossed position with a rope for three or four hours without loosening the rope. This is an extremely cruel torture and can sometimes result in loss of limbs.

Li Fenglin, deputy head of the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp, is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Over the past several years he cooperated actively with Zhang Haiping, head of the labor camp, and supported Li Songtao and Bai Jinlong in "reforming" practitioners through inhumane abuse.
