  • FDI: Photo Evidence Tells of Grisly Torture in China
Abuse of Falun Gong Woman, Mutilated Breasts, "Too Disturbing to be Adequately Described in Words"

Wang Yunjie with her husband and child before she was abducted by Chinese police.

The Falun Dafa Information Center recently obtained photographs that provide startling evidence of torture in China at the hands of authorities. The photos reveals horrific mutilation of the breasts of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yunjie, of Dalian city, Liaoning province, and bespeak of the continued violence perpetrated in China against followers of the Falun Gong.

Wang became a prisoner of conscience on May 14, 2002, when she was taken from her workplace by police. Police gave no cause for arrest, only stating that Wang was part of the Falun Gong.

In an account of Wang's time in captivity provided by eyewitnesses and persons close to Wang in China, guards at the Masanjia Labor Camp reportedly deprived Wang of sleep, subjected her to the elements, bound and hung her, locked her in a bathroom for over a month, and physically beat her. She was also forced to perform labor, including some 300 hours in one month. On one occasion Wang was beaten and kicked by camp guards for six hours.

In early 2003, two male guards, exasperated at not being able to extract a statement of "repentance" from Wang for her beliefs, tore open Wang's shirt and shocked her breasts with high-voltage electric batons. The torture is said to have lasted for over 30 minutes.

The perpetrators, part of a special team from the Liaoning Province Public Security Division (Benxi Camp) sent to the camp to "reform" Wang and other Falun Gong believers, allegedly yelled at Wang, before the mutilation, "We'll see who is tougher!" Following the torture Wang was denied sleep and made to stand through the night. Wang's wounds were not attended to, and soon began to fester.

One prominent U.S. attorney, upon seeing the photos, called the violence done to Wang, "Too disturbing to be adequately described in words."

The following morning two additional guards bound Wang's limbs in a contorted position and hung her up, looking "like a ball," with handcuffs for seven hours. The pain reportedly left Wang crippled. Wang was photographed after having been sent home to die; camp staff believed she had but two months to live.

"This is utterly outrageous," said FDI spokesperson Erping Zhang. "This is some of the most disturbing evidence received in recent months that Chinese authorities are continuing to brutalize practitioners of the Falun Gong and disregard Chinese and international law. We continue to see zero accountability and instead culpability at every level of the system"

Chinese officials continue to deny the torture and abuse of members of the Falun Gong, despite documentation by FDI, Amnesty International, the U.N., and other groups of a combined 40,000 some cases of maltreatment and 2,747 wrongful deaths. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, are said to be held in China's massive gulag system.

Accounts of sexual violence at the hands of Chinese authorities in Dalian city's labor camps are growing more common. Female practitioners of Falun Gong are known to have had bundled toothbrushes shoved into their vaginas, followed by dousing of the wounds with chili pepper juice. Men in Dalian's camps report shocking of genitals with electric batons.

Information of Wang's torment comes on the heels of an official Chinese Government white paper, Building of Political Democracy in China, in which the regime lauds its "socialist democracy" for having "scored tremendous achievements." The paper, while claiming "citizens' basic rights are respected and guaranteed," appears to fly in the face of state-sanctioned torture of apolitical persons of faith such as Wang.

The Falun Dafa Information Center is calling on all international organizations and foreign governments to help bring the perpetrators of Wang's mutilation to justice and hasten the release of all Falun Gong prisoners of conscience in China.

Details of Wang's ordeal in the Masanjia camp, including specific dates, details of abuses, and the names of figures and penal system bodies reportedly responsible, can be found at: /emh/articles/2005/10/20/66071.html

    Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa (about), is a Buddhist practice of meditation and exercises, with teachings that emphasize living by three principles: truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. Originating in China, Falun Gong is now practiced in over 70 countries. With Chinese government estimates of 100 million practicing Falun Gong in China, in July 1999 the Chinese Communist Party-state launched a nationwide, violent campaign to "eradicate" the practice. The Falun Dafa Information Center has verified details of 2,747 deaths and over 44,000 cases of torture (reports / sources). Millions have been detained or sent to forced labor camps.

Tears and Blood of Dalian: The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Sun Yan (Part 3)

    Part 1: /emh/articles/2005/10/10/65730.html

    Part 2: /emh/articles/2005/10/12/65801.html

After enduring inhumane physical tortures and mental torment, Sun Yan still persisted in her Falun Gong practice.

On November 16, 2003, Dalian Forced Labor Camp authorities illegally extended Sun Yan's sentence by 50 days. They secretly transferred her and two other practitioners, Yang Chunhua and Zhang Xiaoli, to the Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City to further persecute them. Sun Yan was illegally held at Gourp 2 of the Longshan Forced Labor Camp.

The Longshan Forced Labor Camp is nothing more than a concentration camp, used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The guards at the labor camp boasted, "We won't release them until they 'reform'." Since March 2004, the authorities at the labor camp have done everything possible to whitewash their crimes while at the same time escalating the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

On March 22, 2004, a Falun Gong-slandering meeting was held at Group 2. Practitioner Gao Rongrong refused to attend the meeting. Deputy group head Tang Yubao dragged Gao Rongrong off the upper bunk, squeezed her neck, dragged her outside and beat her. Practitioner Sun Yan tried to stop the beating. Tang Yubao immediately punched Sun Yan near the eyes. Her eyes became red and swollen and later turned black and blue. Several guards pinned Gao Rongrong in a chair. Gao Rongrong had been severely persecuted. She was suffering from liver pain, stomach pain and vomiting. She could not eat and was having fever on and off, and was skin and bones. The guards did not spare her, despite her condition. Tang Yubao ordered two guards to carry Gao Rongrong to the Administration Section and handcuff her to a heating pipe. They hit and kicked her. Tang Yubao shocked her head, face, neck, hands and feet with electric batons repeatedly, for about 30 minutes.

Many guards were present in the room. Gao Rongrong asked to see the head of the labor camp. The guards left the room. Later, Li Fengshi, head of the labor camp, entered the room and tried to force Gao Rongrong to give up the Falun Gong practice. He said, "This is a coercion agency! What do you think the electric batons and handcuffs are for? I just don't believe they can't 'fix' you, little Gao Rongrong." Gao Rongrong could not straighten her back after the beating. Her arms were numb for many days, and her face and neck were scorched from electric shock. The guards forced her to sit in the workshop.

Two days later they sent her to Group 1, where a group of people from Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp subjected her to brainwashing. They didn't allow her to sleep for a long time, until 3:00 a.m. During those days, Gao Rongrong suffered physical and mental abuse. She confronted Yang Min and Yue Jun, heads of Group 1, but they refused to acknowledge the persecution. They even shamelessly scoffed, "The tortures are for your own good" and threatened her with sentence extension, more electric shock and other torture.

In early April, Gao Rongrong was sent back to Group 2. She was even thinner by then, ran a constant fever and she also coughed. The guards took her to a small hospital in Zhujia Town to have a physical examination, but group head Wang Jinghui refused to let her see the results and didn't notify her family. Wang Jinghui lied and told Gao Rongrong that all the results were within normal range. Later, Jiang Yubo, head of the Administration Section, threatened Gao Rongrong, "I don't want to beat you, but there is a limit to my patience." He ordered someone to carry Gao Rongrong to the workshop and ordered her to do slave labor. It was hard for Gao Rongrong to even sit up, as she was very weak.

Sun Yan and Gao Rongrong were held in the same cell at the Longshan Labor Camp. Gao Rongrong's face was left disfigured when the guards shocked her with electric batons. Sun Yan's face was also shocked with electric batons. Perpetrators included guards from the Administration Section and Jiang Zhaohua, a group guard.

Gao Rongrong, before her face was disfigured

Gao Rongrong, after her face was disfigured with electric batons

On March 22, the day Gao Rongrong's face was disfigured, Tang Yubao suspected practitioner Su Weihuan was doing the Falun Gong exercises. He verbally and physically abused her in the office. The next day Su Weihuan refused to work and was taken to the Administration Section. She was handcuffed to a radiator and someone shocked her head, face, hands, back and other parts of her body with electric batons for over 30 minutes. Tang Yubao shocked her and Wang Xuetao helped him. Wang Wei was present and didn't do anything to stop the atrocities.

In the evening of March 22, practitioner Feng Guifen suffered from high blood pressure, tachycardia and narrowing of the esophagus. She did not report to roll call. The guards dragged her to the office. Group head Wang Jinghui slapped her face and shocked her with electric batons. Labor camp head Li Fengshi said, "Now you can forget about getting out of here when your sentence expires." Feng Guifen's original sentence would expire in April. Her sentence was extended by one month, and the guards extorted 3,000 Yuan from her family. In the following days, Feng Guifen was carried to the workshop and was forced to sit there. We saw that she was having difficulty eating after being shocked with electric batons. She could hardly turn her head and her condition was getting worse, yet the guards said she was faking an illness.

Beginning in April 2004, the Longshan Labor Camp authorities tried to take pictures of all the detainees (the pictures were supposed to be taken a long time ago) in order for the camp to be promoted to a provincial-level labor camp. Many practitioners refused to cooperate with the scheme. On April 5, practitioner Sun Yan refused to have her picture and fingerprints taken. Guards Ma Wei and Zeng Xiaoping and Administration Section official Bi Yinhong took her to the Administration Section. Bi Yinhong and a guard shocked her head with two electric batons; they handcuffed her hands to a chair and Bi Yinhong pinched her arms and tried to force her to provide her fingerprints. Section head Jiang Yubo was present but didn't do anything to stop the atrocity. Sun Yan was shocked with electric batons. Blisters appeared on her head, and she was beaten until her head bled.

Even more cruel is fact that the perpetrators sent Sun Yan and other Falun Gong practitioners to brainwashing classes where they deprived practitioners of sleep for eight days and eight nights, or even longer. The collaborators mentally torture them around the clock. Many practitioners lost consciousness as a result of the persecution.

In order to cover up the persecution, the guards unreasonably deprived the practitioners of their right to meet with their families.

Deeply physically and emotionally traumatized, Sun Yan was released from Longshan Labor Camp in June 2004.

Mr. Li Wenjun Illegally Sent to a Forced Labor Camp and Tortured, All Appeals Denied (Part II)

Clearwidom.net published a detailed report on January 31, 2005, about Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wenjun. (Please see Part 1: /emh/articles/2005/1/31/57065.html)

In April 2004, police officers from the Weichang Police Station fabricated evidence against Li Wenjun and sentenced him to three years in the Jiutai City Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp. While incarcerated, Li Wenjun repeatedly went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. His health was severely damaged as a result. Meanwhile, Li Wenjun's elderly parents have reached out to every association, organization and department they could think of in seeking justice for their son. They also traveled back and forth to the forced labor camp several dozen times, covering hundreds of miles, but were denied any visits with their son until July 2005. Although Li Wenjun's family has approached the justice department to request freedom for Li Wenjun, the justice department and the government organizations keep shirking their responsibility and endlessly shift the responsibility to each other.

On March 2, 2005, Li Wenjun's mother (referred to Mrs. Li from now on), and Li's brother-in-law, went to visit Mr. Li at the forced labor camp, but the camp forbade Mrs. Li from seeing her son, giving as a reason the fact that she practices Falun Gong. When Li Wenjun's brother-in-law met with him alone, he finally learned that nothing the family had sent him in the way of food or clothing had reached him. Mrs. Li met Captain Gao and demanded him to release Li, but was told it was impossible.

At 9:00 a.m. on March 6, 2005, Mrs. Li and Li's brother-in-law went to the camp again. The camp denied Mrs. Li the visit again. When Li's brother-in-law asked to see Li Wenjun, a policeman asked him to either call Falun Gong a slanderous word or forget about seeing Li Wenjun. He tried to reason with the policeman, but the policeman refused to listen and pushed him out the door. He then asked if he could leave some money for Li Wenjun, but the policeman refused again. Mrs. Li went to see the labor camp head, camp chairman and the prosecutor, but none of them were in their offices. She tried calling them on their mobile phones, but all of them turned off their phones.

At 8:08 a.m. on April 7, 2005, Mrs. Li called prosecutor Zhang Guoliang stationed at Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp on his mobile phone, but found the number was out of service. She called him at his home phone number, but his family told her that they didn't know his whereabouts.

At 10:00 a.m. on April 13, 2005, Mrs. Li went to Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp to see the head of the camp, Mr. Guo. Guo told her to go see Mr. Liu, the head of Forced Labor Education. He also told her that the Li's family members are Falun Gong practitioners, and therefore would not be granted any visits. Next Mrs. Li went to see Mr. Liu, group head Mr. Zheng and the resident prosecutor at the camp, but she could not find any of them. At 10:30 a.m., Mrs. Li went to the Prosecutor's Office located on the suburbs of Changchun, and visited the prosecutor Mr. Li. After she told him the purpose of her visit, prosecutor Li called Zhang Guoliang and asked about the condition of Li Wenjun. Zhang lied to the prosecutor and Mrs. Li exposed his lies right away. Prosecutor Li told her that she must go to the local law enforcement agency for an answer. He also told her that it is wrong for the forced labor camp to deny her visiting rights with her son. Prosecutor Li called the local law enforcement agency and left them with his number.

On April 25, 2005, Li Wenjun's father, aunt, uncle and cousin went to the forced labor camp, hoping to see Li Wenjun. While waiting in the visiting room, the police told them to curse Falun Gong. Li's aunt and uncle told the police that they are Christians and are not supposed to curse. The police then denied them the visit.

On May 26, 2005, Li Wenjun's parents went to the forced labor camp again to see the head of the Discipline Group, Zheng Hailing. Zheng asked them, "What are you doing here? We have already told you that you are not allowed to see Li Wenjun." Mrs. Li told him that she had come to bring her son home. Zheng told her, "We don't even allow you to see him. It is wishful thinking to bring him home!" Mrs. Li said, "It has been such a long time, and you are still as depraved as ever!" Zheng replied, "The Chinese Communist Party has already branded Falun Gong as an anti-CCP movement. If you dare argue with me again, I'll call the police station and have you two arrested!" Mrs. Li insisted on leaving some stuff for Li Wenjun. Zheng told her as he walked away, "Leave it in the visiting room!" Mrs. Li went to the visiting room, but the authorities refused to accept it. Then she went to Mr. Feng Wei, a member of the discipline team. He told Mrs. Li, "Your son is in good health."

On Tuesday July 12, 2005, Li Wenjun's parents and relatives, totaling six people, went to visit Li Wenjun at the camp. They went to the office of Liu, head of the camp, to demand his release. Liu told them, "You may see him, but we cannot release him." Once they were at the visiting room, the head of the Discipline Group Zheng Hailing told them that they may have only one look at Li Wenjun, and no talking was allowed.

Mrs. Li then went to the Appeals Office at the Public Security Bureau. A man with the last name of Chen told Mrs. Li, "Did they prohibit you from following the legal procedure?" Mrs. Li replied, "The court said that we missed the deadline for appeal, so the court could do nothing. The court told us to go to Beijing's Appeals Office." Chen asked Mrs. Li to fill out a registration form for first-time visitors to the Appeals Office and then asked her to go home and wait to hear from them.

On the morning of July 21, 2005, after two weeks of searching, Li Wenjun's family finally found Chief Prosecutor Mr. Tang as he was getting out of his car. Tang asked Mrs. Li if she had written any letters to the Prosecutor's Office. Mrs. Li said, "I have not. I have sent a registered letter to the Discipline Group at Jilin Province Government, but I have not received any reply." Tang told her that this case belongs to the jurisdiction of the executive branch, not the judicial branch. He told her to go see the Secretary of Jilin City's Political and Legal Committee. Mrs. Li went to the Public Security Bureau and Jilin City Government in order to meet with Jilin City's Political and Legal Committee, but she has not been able to reach the committee so far.

At 3:00 p.m. on July 22, 2005, Li Wenjun's family received a notice from the Public Security Bureau to come to the bureau at 8:00 a.m. the next day. Around 8:20 a.m. of July 23, 2005, the deputy head of the Public Security Bureau, Mr. Jiang Weichang, met with Li Wenchang's family. There were about 30 to 40 leaders and staff members from Jilin City's Public Security Bureau and its various branches attending the meeting. After having heard the complaint from Mrs. Li, Jiang Weichang told her, "We need to conduct an investigation for a week before we give you an answer. The deputy head of the Public Security Bureau's Changyi Branch, Mr. Li Yongli, is also here. He will contact you and give you an answer."

On the morning of August 1, 2005, Li Wenjun's family went to the Jilin City Public Security Bureau's Appeals Office to inquire about the results of the investigation, but Chen asked them to go home and wait.

On August 3, Li Wenjun's family went to the Changyi Public Security Branch, but the entrance security told them that the head of the bureau had left his office for a meeting.

On August 4, Li Wenjun's family went to the Changyi Branch Bureau again, asking to see the branch head. The chairman of the Inspection Office met with them on behalf of the branch head. After he read the submitted material, he scheduled an appointment for them to meet the bureau head on Saturday.

At 8:40 a.m. on August 6, the branch head, Mr. Li, met them in person and listened to their case. According to Li, the forced labor camp has many different departments, and each department is required to take responsibility for every document it signs. Hence, he said everything would be all right. When Li Wenjun's parents explained the situation to him, Li asked them to come back the following week and handed the case to bureau head Mr. Sun because he is in charge of all issues related to Falun Gong.

On the morning of August 8, when Li Wenjun's family arrived at Changyi Branch Bureau, the entrance security officer told them that the head of Jilin City Public Security Bureau was in a meeting. At 1:30 p.m. they finally met chairman Wang. He told them, "I have reported your case to the head of the bureau, Mr. Jiang. He said that you should go to Jilin City's '610 Office' because it is not in his jurisdiction." At 2:30 p.m., Li Wenjun's family went to the Jilin City 610 Office. A staff member named Jiang told them, "The Jilin City Committee should not be involved with executive matters. You should go back to the Public Security Bureau." Later, he promised to make some calls for them, and said he would get back to them in a week's time. He asked them to wait for his call at home. A week later they called Mr. Jiang, but he told them that they had already missed the appeal period and that they could only start another prosecution.

On Friday August 12, 2005, Mrs. Li went to the Public Security Bureau's Appeals Office. The man who met her said, "You must not come to Mr. Liu (head of the bureau), for cases that Mr. Jiang (deputy head), has processed. You must go to the Advising Group."

The chairman of the Advising Group told them, "All Falun Gong practitioners must be sent to the forced labor camp. Once they are released, they will become good people." Mrs. Li told him, "My son is a good man to begin with." The man replied, "Then he must face the forced labor camp." Then he dismissed her.

On August 29, 2005, Mrs. Li and Li's brother-in-law went to the camp again and waited for over an hour until they were informed that Li Wenjun had been on a hunger strike for over two weeks and that no one could see him because he is under the supervision of the Strict Discipline Team. Mrs. Li went to the head of the Discipline Group, Mr. Zheng Hailing, and inquired about her son. Zheng told her that Li Wenjun started a hunger strike after the resident prosecutor talked to him for the second time. According to Zheng, Li Wenjun said he would not eat until China stops persecuting Falun Gong and restores Falun Gong's good name.

On the afternoon of August 29, 2005, Li Wenjun's father called the Jilin Province Forced Labor Bureau's Group head Mr. Bai Guang and told him about his son's current health condition. Bai told him that he would think about it after he found out more about the case.

On August 31, 2005, Mrs. Li called Bai Guang, who told her, "We must reinforce the medical care and brainwashing because he is on a hunger strike. We must keep him from any mishap. We do not have the authority to release him."

On September 5, 2005, Li Wenjun's father and cousin went to the camp to visit him, but their request for a visit was denied once again. Li's father went to see the resident prosecutors. Two prosecutors named Ji and Zhang talked to them. They agreed to contact the camp and get them a visit with Li Wenjun at 2:00 p.m. Li's father and cousin waited in the visiting room for two hours, but they never saw Li. The camp told them that it is a rule that Li Wenjun must not see his father, because his father is a Falun Gong practitioner. Li's cousin met with him and reported that Li was clear minded.

On the morning of September 14, 2005, Mrs. Li and Li's cousin went to the camp again, but they were not allowed to see Li. Mrs. Li went to see the head of the camp, Mr. Liu, and fought for a chance to see him. Finally, they allowed her to see Li Wenjun under the close watch of the Chairman of the Discipline Group, the captain and several inmates. Li Wenjun was very clearheaded. He said, "Even my parents' words will not alter my will. You must release me or I won't eat anything. No one can alter my will." He told Mrs. Li, "You know your son very well. I will not do anything I shouldn't do."

On September 20, 2005, Mrs. Li went to the camp to ask for Li Wenjun's release. She went to see the head of the bureau Mr. Liu, but Liu told her that he had no authority to release him, and pushed her back to the Public Security Bureau again. He allowed her to see Li and told her to ask Li to eat again. Mrs. Li went to the Head of Discipline Group, Mr. Zheng Hailing, and told him she wanted to bring her son home. Zheng became anxious and denied her the visit. Mrs. Li gave Zheng an appeal letter. After Zheng read it, he passed it to Li Wenjun.

At the time of writing this, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Wenjun is undergoing a difficult tribulation at Jiutai City Yingmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province. He has survived several hunger strikes and suffered from severe persecution. His health has been seriously undermined. His family has also endured the most insufferable pain and pressure.

We hereby call for all the kindhearted people to pay attention to this issue and offer your moral support.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin Is in Critical Situation at Nanshan Prison, Jinzhou City

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin is a practitioner from Songzhangzi Village, Wanshou Township, Jianping County, Liaoning Province. He is being tortured at the Nanshan Prison at Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, and is in critical condition. Mr. Qiao's father has had a stroke and cannot take care of himself, and his daughter had to quit school because she had no money to support herself.

Because of their firm belief in Falun Gong, Mr. Qiao and his wife Fu Minglin were forced to leave home and remain in a rented room in Chaoyang City to avoid harassment. On April 3, 2004, police officer Huang Dianxiang and others from the Longcheng Police Station seized Mr. Qiao. His wife Ms. Fu was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City for a three-year term. Mr. Qiao was sent to the Jianping County Detention Center. Several days later he was moved to the Wujiawa Detention Center, where he was tortured. In May 2004, Mr. Qiao's whole body swelled up and showed many symptoms of illness. But officer Tan Fujun and others from the Shuangta District sentenced Mr. Qiao to 10 years in prison and sent him to the Nanshan Prison in Jinzhou City.

At the Nanshan Prison, Mr. Qiao is being subjected to long-term brainwashing and physical torture. Each day he is forced to work long hours to generate profits for the prison. Due to the torture, there is serious fluid accumulation in his chest, his face has swelled up, and he has become emaciated. Nevertheless, the prison assigned a special group to monitor Mr. Qiao. Recently, Mr. Qiao's condition has become critical. It's very hard for him to walk. His life is in immediate danger.

Mr. Qiao has two children and his parents are in their 70s. In 2004, his father, who is in poor heath, and mother went to the Wujiawa Detention Center at Chaoyang City five times to visit their son. But instead of allowing them to meet with their son, the head of the detention center threatened to arrest the old couple and drove them out of the gates. Because of this worrisome and angry situation, Mr. Qiao's father had a stroke and had to have emergency hospital care for over half a month. Now Mr. Qiao's mother has to take care of her sick husband and their two grandchildren on no income. The situation is really difficult for the family.

Mr. Qiao Zhongjin's father Qiao Shusong lies in bed, paralyzed

Mr. Qiao's family is a typical local family. Officers from the Wanshou Police Station of Jianping County also threatened Mr. Qiao's elder daughter Qiao Ruiyue, a student at the Jianping County First Middle School. Right before the senior high school entrance test, police officers talked with her as representatives of the first middle school committee. Later, the school put more pressure on her. Due to the loss of financial support, Qiao Ruiyue had to quit school.

The Nanhuayuan Jail shot from afar

From the main entrance of the Nanhuayuan Jail to the guidepost is about 0.062 miles to the south

Information about some of the imprisoned practitioners:

A 38-year-old practitioner Mr. Wang Wenju, an English teacher from Tanggou Middle School in Xiuyan County, Liaoning Province, started practicing Falun Gong in 2004. He was arrested in his classroom after clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and later was sentenced to three years in jail. At the end of March 2005, Mr. Wang was taken to the Shenyang Jail and then transferred to the Nanhuayuan Jail in Fushun City. Mr. Wang was so badly beaten by the guards that on April 25, 2005 he was taken to the Fushun Hospital and died two days later.

Practitioner Mr. Jing Suo from Xinmin City, Liaoning Province, born in 1975, was a professional driver and a spare-time computer technology user. He lived at Xinliu Street, Cheng District in Xinmin City. After attending the Shenyang City Experience Sharing Conference on December 29, 2003, he was listed as one of the most wanted persons by the Shenyang authorities. In July 2004, he was arrested by the police, and in September 2004, got sentenced to four years in jail by the Tiehxi District Court in Shenyang City. He is currently imprisoned at the No. 1 Group in the Nanhuayuan Jail.

In early October 2004, 48-year-old practitioner Mr. Dong Tingyuan from Tiehxi District, Shenyang City got a three and half year imprisonment sentence, secretly given by the Tiehxi District Court, and was taken to the Nanhuayuan Jail.

A former Zaohua Jail guard, practitioner Mr. Liu Wei from Tiehxi District, Shenyang City, was sentenced to five years imprisonment in May 2000 due to clarifying the facts about Falun Gong and exposing the evil persecution. At first he was imprisoned at the Dongling Jail in Shenyang City, and then on December 25, 2004, he was taken to the "Strictly Monitored Group" at the Nanhuayuan Jail. In February 2005, he went on a hunger strike against the persecution.

At the end of 2003, a 50-year-old practitioner Mr. Fu Mingjie from Wanghua District, Fushun City was released from jail. On July 14, 2004, he was arrested by the police and got sentenced to three years of so-called "reeducation through forced labor." (Mr. Fu's wife was also sentenced to forced labor.) He is currently imprisoned at Nanhuayuan Jail. (Note: Mr. Fu was sentenced for three years in 2000 and imprisoned at the Dabei Jail in Shenyang City.)

How Are the Political and Judiciary Committee and 610 Office in Laizhou City Building a "Harmonious Society"?

Mr. Zhao Facheng and Ms. Ren Zhifang, Falun Gong practitioners in Laizhou City, Shandong Province, were illegally arrested and detained by the 610 Office for distributing truth-clarification materials on May 4, 2005. During their detention, the 610 personnel pressured them many times to find out their source of truth-clarification materials.

Mr. Zhao was not feeling well. He was sent to a hospital for an examination and was diagnosed with liver cancer. The 610 Office informed his family so they could bail him out, but they couldn't afford the bail. On June 22, the 610 Office released Zhao.

Ms. Ren was illegally detained for as long as three months and was persecuted both physically and spiritually. In early August 2005, she had a distended abdomen. The hospital examined her and found that her abdominal cavity was full of tumors. The 610 Office informed her family so they could bail her out, and they released her on August 8.

Mr. Shi Lunyun, a Falun Gong practitioner in Laizhou City, was arrested and detained by the Laizhou 610 Office on December 29, 2004, for distributing truth-clarification materials. During his detention, he suffered from severe mental and physical pain. When he was examined in a hospital, his blood pressure was as high as 230, and he was diagnosed with heart disease. It was difficult for him to walk. He was not released until September 1, 2005, after being detained for almost eight months.

Even though these three practitioners were released, the Laizhou 610 Office ordered the local police stations and their work places to continue monitoring them. They sent people to the practitioners' homes to do so-called "monthly reviews" and sign some documents. The practitioners and their families continued to suffer from spiritual torture and persecution.

At around 9 a.m. on July 6, 2005, a plainclothes police officer from the Laizhou National Security Group arrested practitioner Mr. Jiang Xudong. Only nine days later, on July 16, he was illegally sentenced by the Laizhou 610 Office to two years in a forced labor camp and sent to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province.

Recently, under the order of the Laizhou Political and Judicial Committee, the Laizhou 610 Office ordered every business, institution and organization to send practitioners in their units to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center in Laizhou City before October 1. The brainwashing started on September 26 and was scheduled to run for 15 days. The 610 Office even assigned a quota for each unit. Some Neighborhood Administration Offices and local businesses deceived and forced practitioners living in the neighborhood or working in the businesses to go to the Dianzi Brainwashing Center in Laizhou. They threatened to deduct practitioners' salaries or lay them off if they refused to comply.

Before October 1, under the order of the Laizhou Political and Judicial Committee, every business, institution and organization (including the Laizhou City Education Committee) issued documents based upon the Political and Judicial Committee's instructions. The document required every unit to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners. Some businesses and organizations have understood the truth of Falun Gong, so they responded sensibly. In some businesses, however, the content of the document was announced at a mass meeting. Falun Gong practitioners were summoned. Some even demanded that practitioners ask for a permit before leaving Laizhou for any reason.

The Chinese Communist Party and Jiang's scoundrel regime recklessly violate human rights and persecute kind Falun Gong practitioners. At the same time, they lie to the general public, saying that they will build a so-called "harmonious society." Is this how the Political and Judicial Committee and 610 Office in Laizhou City are building a "harmonious society?"

Products Made With Slave Labor - Colorful Lanterns at the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province

There are seven groups at the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province, each of which makes slave labor products. "Slave labor" here refers to the fact that the guards in the labor camp use brutality to force the prisoners to manufacture products under adverse conditions. Prisoners must work about 16 hours every day. Those not completing their production tasks receive various kinds of corporal punishments, are subjected to barbaric torture, or have their terms in the labor camp extended. These production tasks are also assigned to those "reeducated-through-forced labor personnel" hospitalized in the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp Hospital.

At present, the slave labor products made in the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp include polished man-made crystal gems, various kinds of colorful lanterns, and electronic products. The cheap labor costs in these forced labor camps have prompted the manufacturers of such labor-intensive products to transfer the fabrication of their products to these forced labor camps to reap high profits.

Many of these products are exported to other countries. For example, the Fifth Group at the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp that aims specifically to persecute the imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners primarily produces colorful lanterns, which are exported mostly to European countries, including Belgium, Italy, and France, North American countries, and other Asian countries. The production merchant is Zhuhai Chili Electronic Ltd.

According to the staff of Chili Electronic Ltd., a lot of the processing and production of the company's many colored lanterns in Zhuhai have been transferred to forced labor camps. Its main plant is focused only on the production of technically difficult color lanterns and the quality testing and packaging of products processed in various forced labor camps and jails, which then become export products. The company exports on a large scale, and every year the value of its exported products is from twenty million to over one hundred million yuan. The Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou alone has four production groups, with more than 2,000 inmate workers. The production serial number of the Zhonba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou is arranged as the 28th workshop in this company.

Many of the Chili Electronic Ltd. products are specially made for specific activities and holidays, with its peak of production just before Christmas every year. After Christmas, the lamps produced are the common varieties of colored lanterns.

It is worth mentioning here that when people are celebrating the holidays, the flashing lamps everyone is enjoying could have actually come from such forced labor camps, which are trampling and violating human rights and demanding excessive work quotas from the persecuted cheap labor. These products have not only upset markets values but also helped the persecution.

Their 70-year-old mother was at home and took care of their 13-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son. The three lived a difficult life. They did not have a stable income, and depended on their relatives and friends for help. When Sun and Jiang were released, the Aohan Banner 610 Office did not even allow them to go home. They were sent directly to a brainwashing center for over ten days.

By the time Jiang and Sun finally went home, their family had incurred heavy debt. Later with the help of their family and friends, they made a living by selling snacks. This situation, however, did not last very long. On June 30, 2005, when Sun was arrested again, their business had to stop, and later was transferred to others.

After Mr. Sun's was arrest, he was held in the Aohan Detention Center for two months. On August 2, he and other two practitioners were sent to Ba League at Wuyuan County for two years in a forced labor camp. The practitioners were arrested because they clarified the truth to people.
