(Clearwisdom.net) Changchun City Dafa practitioner Mr. Meng Qinglin is over 60 years old now. He is honest and kind-hearted. Everyone knows that he had severe medical problems and walked with crutches before he practiced Falun Gong. After he started practicing Falun Gong, he discarded his crutches and walked freely. He felt good mentally and physically, and felt fortunate to have obtained Dafa.
After July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started their frantic and inhuman persecution of Falun Gong. Meng Qinglin was detained many times without cause and was illegally detained in a labor camp three times. At the beginning of 2000, Meng Qinglin was detained for more than a year just for refusing to renounce his belief, and was not allowed to attend his son's wedding. Many times he was tortured until he passed out and was sent out of the prison for resuscitation. When he was released, his son was already married.
After the interception of Changchun television station's broadcast with truth clarification footage in March 2002, the 610 Offices from top to bottom were in a frenzy and illegally arrested Dafa practitioners as they combed through the city. Because Meng Qinglin refused to denigrate Dafa and Master Li, he was forced to sit on a tiger bench for 12 hours at the Changchun sub-bureau, and was again detained for more than a year. After he was released from prison, his little granddaughter was already born and several months old. His family members could not even recognize him. He was emaciated, pale, and could hardly walk because of numbness in both legs. He needed a magnifying glass to read. This caused his family members a great deal of stress and anxiety.
In late May, 2006, Meng Qinglin went to clarify the truth to people in front of the Yiqi Golf Hotel. He was reported by someone who was deceived by the CCP's propaganda against Falun Gong. He was put in a forced labor camp for another year. Now his term is being extended. His physical condition is poor. His family members tried to take him home many times but were refused. The labor camp openly threatened to extend his term for another month if he did not renounce Falun Gong. The family members were pressured as well. Meng Qinglin's wife had heart problems and needed him to stay at home to take care of her. The little granddaughter asked about him every day, saying that she misses her grandpa. Now the child is going to attend school and she hasn't spent many quiet days with her grandpa.
We ask practitioners here and overseas as well as all people of conscience to please extend a helping hand for Meng Qinglin's release and to reunite him with his family.
