(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Gao Youlan was a Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Shenhe District, Shenyang City. Before she began practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from severe diabetes. She tried many treatments at various hospitals, and also practiced many kinds of qigong to cure her illness. But none of them worked. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, and thereafter her diabetes and other illnesses went away. Her husband, her youngest son Li Shangrong, and her daughter-in-law He Xin all practiced Falun Gong. They were a happy family.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong was launched in July 1999, the entire family started making truth clarification materials to tell people the facts of the persecution. On October 26, 2000, police from Shenhe District’s Nanta Police Station suddenly broke into her home, and arrested Ms. Gao, her husband and their son Li Shangrong. The home was ransacked, and computers, printers and Falun Dafa books were confiscated. Her daughter-in-law He Xin was not detained at the time, because her child -- Ms. Gao’s grandson -- was only six weeks old. Nonetheless, to avoid future persecution, she was forced to leave home with her infant.

On October 26, the Gao couple was temporarily released, yet their son was still detained at the police station. In 2002, the Shenhe District Court illegally sentenced their son Li Shangrong to ten years in prison. He is presently unlawfully detained at Wafangdian Prison in Liaoning Province.

On March 15, 2001, police from the Nanta Police Station deceived the Gao couple, along with two other practitioners, into coming to the police station for a "meeting." They then detained Ms. Gao and sent her to the Second Team of Longshan Labor Camp for a one-year forced labor sentence. Ms. Gao's husband was sent to Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp for a year, yet he was released one and a half months later because his leg developed several problems. Even today he cannot walk.

On June 22, 2005, Gao Youlan's daughter-in-law He Xin went to visit Ms. Gao and brought her five-year-old grandson. When the hotel where Ms. Gao was staying checked He Xin’s ID and found out that she is Falun Gong practitioner, she was arrested. She was sent back to the local police station and sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. He is now detained at Liaoning Women’s Prison.

In March 2006, the atrocity of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners at labor camps was exposed. Ms. Gao went to Wafangdian Prison to see her son Li Shangrong. After she returned, she was very worried about the safety of her son and daughter-in-law. Her health was deteriorating. She succumbed to lung cancer, and died on May 27, 2006 at the age of 64.

Ms. Gao's husband, now disabled, is left at home along with their older son who does not practice Falun Dafa. The couple’s younger son is in prison. The five-year-old grandson is being cared for by Ms. Gao's daughter-in-law's parents. Such a happy family has been broken up by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution.
