Turning a Small Incident into an Opportunity to Validate the Fa
I am a practitioner from a small country town in the northeastern part of China. One night in August, it was pouring heavily when a practitioner came to my place to pick up some Dafa materials, intending to deliver them to a mountainous area 50 kilometers away. I said, "The downpour is so heavy, why don't you leave it for tomorrow?" That fellow practitioner said, "No, it has already been decided, and another practitioner is waiting for me out there. The weather forecast says there will be a rainstorm tomorrow. I will ride my bike slowly and it will be all right. Don't worry." Seeing the determination on his face, I didn't argue any further, but looking at the view of his back disappearing further into the distance, tears welled up in my eyes.
When I was just about to go inside after seeing this practitioner off, the phone rang, and it was another practitioner. The practitioner said, "Can you come over?" "No problem," I easily replied, thinking that since the other practitioner had to ride 50 kilometers over the mountain roads in such a downpour, and I only needed to deliver the materials to the city area, the practitioner's request was no problem for me. I picked up the materials and took a tricycle to the city.
The tricycle suddenly flipped while turning a corner and I fell on my face. The owner of the tricycle was scared and he quickly came over to help me to stand up. He said, "Are you all right ? Shall we hurry to the hospital?" I didn't feel any pain, nor did I see any bruises when I got up from the ground. The owner was trembling while holding my arm.
Then, I comforted him by saying, "No worries. I am a Falun Gong practitioner; there is nothing wrong with me." He was still trembling and said, "Let's go to the hospital, shall we?" Realizing that he was still afraid, I said, "No worries. Don't be afraid. I follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance; I won't ask you for any money." I also began to look for the reason why the tricycle had flipped. It turns out that someone had lifted a manhole cover to let more rain water flow in. I then asked the owner to help me put the manhole cover back into position so that other people would not suffer the same problem as us.
The owner was thrilled and said, "It is my lucky day to meet someone like you. I will put it back myself. Don't worry." I then asked him, "Have you heard of Falun Gong before?" He replied yes. I then asked, "Do you know anything about Falun Gong?" He said no. I then told him that Falun Gong was not like what was described on TV, that Falun Gong teaches people to be good and kind. Any Falun Gong practitioner would respond the same way as me if they came across this situation, because our teacher has taught us to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and to think of others first in everything we do.
We soon arrived at the destination. I then gave him two Yuan for the ride, as it was the agreed price, but he wouldn't accept it and said, "I am thankful enough to you when you didn't ask me to pay for the accident, so I can't take any money from you." I said, "No, this is your fair share for your hard work. You must take it, but you should remember this in your heart, 'Falun Dafa is good.'" He said, "Don't worry, I shall definitely remember this." I walked away after I gave him the two Yuan.
Although my clothes were soaked, I was unperturbed, as I know I did what a Dafa disciple should do that day. A small incident could help save a sentient being. As Dafa disciples, we should walk our paths righteously and cultivate ourselves well, bit by bit, little by little.
