(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Liu Yanjun was a teacher at the No. 3 Middle School of Donggang City, Liaoning Province. She was deeply respected by her colleagues and loved by her students. On May 13, 2004, Ms. Liu was taken away from her home by the police and incarcerated in Shenyang City Women's Prison. She has been held there for almost six months and has been tortured to the brink of death. Her husband died in 1999 due to the enormous pressure of the persecution.

Ms. Liu Yanjun suffered from many illnesses before she started practicing Falun Gong. After she began practicing, not only did all of her illnesses disappear, but her moral character was also greatly improved. All those who knew her commented that Ms. Liu was a very upright and kind person.

On May 13, 2004, eight policemen from Shenyang City's Dabei Prison, along with six policemen from the Xinxing District Police Station of Donggang City and five staff members from the Xinxing District Party Committee, broke into Liu Yanjun's home without any legal warrant. They forcibly dragged her downstairs under the pretext that they were going to perform a medical assessment on her. Liu Yanjun was not even given time to put her shoes on. She was then forcibly put into the police van and taken to Dabei Prison. When Ms. Liu shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!" she was beaten by the police.

Liu Yanjun was not assigned to a prison cell until May 18. During those five days that she was in the jail, team leader Jia Yingchun kept violently beating her until the lower part of her body was almost paralyzed. The cruel tortures caused an inflammation of her stomach. Even now, Ms. Liu is not able to eat, as she vomits as soon as she eats something. Just six months after being incarcerated, her appearance has altered terribly. She is now so skinny that her blood vessels stand out prominently.

Ms. Liu's family went to see her in August. At that time she was already no longer able to walk. An inmate in her cell carried Ms. Liu on her back to the reception room. It was mid-summer, but she was still shivering even though she wore thick clothes and pants. Ms. Liu was absentminded and could not raise her head. She also appeared to be dazed and was in danger of losing her life at any time.

Ever since the persecution started in 1999, Liu Yanjun's husband, Wang Yuanjing, the former deputy chief of the Office of Taiwan Affairs of the Donggang City Party Committee, suffered from being persecuted by his work unit and the City Police Department. Due to the enormous pressure, he fell very ill. Wang Runlong, a policeman at the Donggang City Police Department, used various base means to stop him from going to Beijing for medical treatment, causing Mr. Wang's illness to worsen. As a result, Wang Yuanjing soon passed away when he was only 36 years old.

In December 2000, Ms. Liu Yanjun went to Beijing with other practitioners to peacefully appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa, but she was illegally arrested by Song Xiaohe, former Deputy Party Secretary of the Donggang City Political and Judicial Committee. Song incited the staff members under him to violently torture her. Though Liu Yanjun was half paralyzed due to the torture, she still maintained her firm belief in Falun Dafa. The Donggang City Court illegally sentenced her to six years imprisonment and she was also deprived of her job. Ms. Liu was detained in Shenyang City Women's Prison, and was later released on bail for medical treatment. However the Dabei Prison forcibly arrested her again using the excuse that she needed a "medical assessment."
