Since March 2003, the city of Xiangfan's "610 Office"* in Hubei Province has illegally arrested Falun Dafa practitioners for the purpose of subjecting them to brainwashing.
Liu Shuixian was seized and sent to a brainwashing class.
Zhang Qinghua was taken back to Xiangfan City by his company. The Xiangfan City Police Station and "610 Office" directed this, along with the Wuhan police. Zhang Qinghua''s grandmother, who is in her seventies, went all the way from Wuhan City to Xiangfan city, trying unsuccessfully to find him. His company refuses to disclose his information, and his current whereabouts are still unknown.
Tang Jianhua was arrested for clarifying the truth.
Ms. Li Suying personal computer was taken away.
Ms. Xu Dongmei disappeared suddenly.
Zhang Shihua''s residence was ransacked. A bundle of his truth-clarifying material was taken away, and he was illegally sent to the Denglin Forced Labor Camp at Yicheng City.
In December 2002, Wang Zeqiang''s residence was ransacked, and fellow practitioner Cao Chong was arrested with him. They were both illegally detained at Detention Center No. 2, where after a 33-day hunger strike, they were sent to Team No. 1 of Dengli Forced Labor Camp in Yicheng City.
Since April, the authorities have stepped up their efforts in kidnapping Dafa practitioners and sending them to brainwashing centers.
* The 610 Office is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
