The husband of a Falun Gong practitioner in Mainland China has become known by the nickname "Brother San." Since July 20, 1999 (when Falun Gong was outlawed in China), he has been stepping forward and speaking out upon hearing anyone slandering Falun Gong.

1. After July 20, 1999, his work unit required everyone express their stance on Falun Gong, and required non-practitioners to sign papers denouncing Falun Gong. When his superior asked him about it, he simply replied, "I don't practice Falun Gong but my wife does and I support her practicing it. Her health has improved and she gotten rid of all of her bad habits. Do you say Falun Gong is good, or not?" Upon hearing that, the superior had no answer but to leave. The superior never mentioned this matter again.

2. While playing a game of Mahjong, someone was badmouthing Falun Dafa. Right away, Brother San righteously and seriously corrected him by saying, "Falun Gong practitioners are not as you just mentioned. Instead, they are good persons. Do any one of us who are gambling here practice Falun Gong? They do not indulge in excessive eating, drinking, having affairs, or gambling." His group of friends became speechless and all listened quietly to Brother San.

3. One time Brother San and his wife took his sister-in-law to a clinic. In the taxi, Mrs. San gave a Falun Gong Truth CD to the driver and tried to introduce Dafa to him. Even though the driver appeared to accept the CD, immediately after the appointment the San family was arrested and taken to a local police station. A policeman questioned Brother San as to whether he practiced Falun Gong or not and also told him to denounce Falun Gong. "I refuse to say anything bad about Falun Gong! Although I don't know Teacher Li and I don't practice the Gong, I have read his books. His books are all teaching others to behave well and be nice people. Why should I denounce it?" The policeman got upset and said, "It seems to me that you are a Falun Gong practitioner." Brother San replied, "Falun Gong practitioners are of a high moral standard. They are not selfish. All of them all do good deeds and don't do anything bad. I am fond of gambling while playing Mahjong. I am not entitled to be a Dafa practitioner." Confronted by those justified and stern words, the policeman left disconcerted. Finally the police turned over this matter to Brother San's work unit. The work unit asked Brother San to sign a release paper and pay a fine of 1,000 Yuan (twice the average monthly income in urban China). He said, "I will not sign anything. As to the fine, I don't have the money either. My wife did not do any bad thing. Practicing Falun Gong improves one's physical health as well as elevates one's moral quality. What's wrong with it? I refuse to pay even one cent!" The work unit did not know how to deal with this. So they had to let her go free, and let the whole incident ended ambiguously.

4. Another time, Brother San was at a public bath. There were several people there, including a policeman, soaking in a bath pool together and chatting. While talking about Falun Gong, the policeman said something improper and untrue. Then Brother San and another man, also a non-practitioner, clarified the truth to them. They excitingly discussed what they knew of some of the great deeds of Dafa practitioners. All present quietly listened with interest. They learned that "Falun Dafa is good" and learned about the truth concerning the Tiananmen self-immolation incident.

Above are a few examples of the many things that Brother San has done for Dafa.
