On March 2, 2002, the 2002 Connecticut Chinese Lantern-Festival [Note: the 15th of the first lunar month] Art Performance was held at Yale University, located in New Haven Connecticut. This was the biggest Chinese art performance in Connecticut. Over 500 local Chinese watched the performance and all seats were filled. Practitioners of the Yale University Falun Dafa Club demonstrated the Dafa exercises while the songs De Du and Pudu were played. Projected on a big screen in the background, slides of Heavenly Beauties, the lyrics of De Du and "the world needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" were shown to warm audience applause.
The program list also noted that, "Falun Gong has received over 700 awards worldwide. The Governor of Connecticut commended Falun Gong twice, and the Mayor of New Haven personally issued an award as well." Before the exercise demonstration, the host also introduced the awards that were issued to Falun Gong in 1992 and 1993 in China. After the performance, many Chinese received the Dafa materials. Practitioners used the intermission and the banquet after the performance to talk to Chinese attendees they hadn't met before. The effect was very good.
