Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing. While many of those who persecute Falun Gong are merely "following orders," the universal law requires that they, too, be held responsible for their actions, and that only by reversing their course of wrongdoing may they escape retribution.

• Recently, a "strange" thing occurred in a county of Deyang City, Sichuan Province. The Cultural Bureau conducted a rehearsal for a celebration activity. After a government performance defiling Falun Gong had just finished, the curtain onstage suddenly burst into flames. Many people were instantly reminded of old Chinese sayings about retribution for wrongdoings.

• Tian Wenjun, a former practitioner who has gone astray from the Battery Plant in Hengshui City, Hebei Province, persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners in a brainwashing class. On the evening of August 4, Hengshui City was struck by a sudden thunderstorm. Tian felt uncomfortable at the time, so he went to see the doctor the next day. On the steps in front of the hospital, he suddenly fell down and failed to regain consciousness after he was rushed to the emergency room. According to sources, he was black and bruised all over his body when he died.

• A man by the name of Fu, a retiree from the Mingshan Area of Benxi City, Liaoning Province, beat up his wife, a Falun Gong practitioner. He destroyed Dafa books and materials as well. A few days later, he suddenly became paralyzed due to a blood-clot in his brain. He died after two years of suffering in bed.

• A woman from the Epidemic Prevention Station of Benxi City, Liaoning Province, often reports on her husband and father-in-law who practice Falun Dafa. In addition, together with her husband's working unit, she forced her husband to attend a brainwashing class. Some time ago, she began to suffer from cancer of the larynx.

• Falun Dafa truth clarification statements had been posted on the gate of a certain workplace. The head of the work unit asked an employee to cover the signs with paint. Several days later, the employee suddenly contracted a very embarrassing illness. A Falun Dafa practitioner found out and went to tell him the truth. He told the employee that whoever damaged Falun Dafa would receive retribution. The employee suddenly realized what had happened. When the practitioner gave him a CD and other truth-materials, he felt very grateful and said, "Thank you."

• A Falun Dafa practitioner erased the words defiling Falun Dafa from the bulletin board of her work unit. Another person told her not to do so and slandered Falun Dafa. As a result, in less than two hours time, that person was injured at work. The practitioner told her: slandering Falun Dafa will cause retribution.She eventually understood after the practitioner clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to her.

• A Falun Dafa practitioner's father obtained a truth-clarifying flyer and burned it in the stove. Later, he felt great pain in his back, from his neck to his feet. The practitioner told him, "A truth-clarifying Falun Dafa flyer cannot be burned. It was made to save you. It's a warning that you feel pain in your back." After that, the old man changed his attitude.
