Photo Report: Calling for Urgent Rescue of Dr. Teng, Salute to Falun Gong Practitioners

On August 29, Friends of Falun Gong held a press conference in San Francisco calling on Jiang Zemin's government to immediately free Dr. Teng Chunyan and to offer support for the 271-hour sit-in appeal by San Francisco bay area practitioners. Nearly 50 people from all circles of society attended the conference.

Today, 6 Falun Gong practitioners are commencing a 1086 km walk from Sydney to Brisbane.

This 34-day walk is part of the urgent Global SOS Campaign to immediately rescue those imprisoned in China following the persecution of Falun Dafa that began over two years ago on July 20, 1999. The walk is concurrent with other hunger strikes and walks occurring globally, across North America, Europe and Asia.

72 Solemn Declarations Received Today

As practitioners in China face tremendous pressure to give up their beliefs under the Chinese regime' brutal persecution, there are those who have given in and signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa. However, many of these people deeply regret doing so after they are released from detention and labor camps. "Solemn declarations" are the public statements made by such practitioners, often at great risk to their personal safety, to declare to the world that the documents they signed under duress are null and void and that they will continue to practice Falun Dafa.
