VOA News: Chinese Police Physically Abuse Swedish Falun Gong Practitioners, Sweden Protested to the Chinese Foreign Ministry
(Clearwisdom.net) According to a report by VOA News (Chinese) on Nov. 23, 2001 western foreign nationals who are Falun Gong practitioners said that they were beaten and abused by the Chinese police while they were in China. On Tuesday, 35 Falun Gong practitioners including Germans, Swedes, Swiss, Canadians, Spaniards, Australians, and Americans protested in Tiananmen Square against the government's suppression of Falun Gong and deceiving Chinese citizens. The Chinese police immediately and forcefully removed them from the Square. The Chinese government expelled the 35 western Falun Gong practitioners on Wednesday. Sweden protested to the Chinese Foreign Ministry for what it called the harsh physical treatment of those Swedish practitioners detained. Three Australian Falun Gong practitioners also indicated on Thursday that during their detention, they were put into a basement room with no ventilation. Further more, one of them was kicked and beaten by the Chinese police.
