[Beijing] Beijing Industry University has set up a special team for handling Falun Gong issue; two labor camps in Beijing vacated in order to detain more practitioners The Beijing Industry University has set up a special team for handling Falun Gong issue. It was said that this time, every practitioner would be demanded to write a pledge to recant, including those who have never stepped forward to speak out for Falun Gong. Many practitioners have realized that this would be yet another test to see if they could be truthful to what they believe in, and that they should never give in. According to some practitioners, the Tuanhe Labor Camp and the Tiantanghe Labor Camp in Beijing have already transferred detained convicted criminals to other places so that there will be enough room to detain more Falun Gong practitioners. [Chengdu] Practitioners Wang Quan and Gu Xiaorong lost their jobs for their beliefs Wang Quan, female, 29 years old, born in Jilin Province, with a college degree. She was an employee of the Sichuan Motor Engine Ltd. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong twice, in last December and this July respectively. She got detained by the Chengdu City Police Department. On August 1, 2000, Wang Quan was fired by her workplace. Gu Xiaorong, female, 34, born in Hunan Province, college degree. She was a technician in the Sichuan Motor Engine Ltd. She got detained by the Chengdu City police department after going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in last December. In this July, she declared that she would continue to practice Falun Gong while she was forced to attend the so-called "re-education class" held by the Shuanlin Police Station of Chengdu City. As a result, she was given another 15 days of detention. On August 7, 2000, she was fired by her workplace. Both Wang Quan and Gu Xiaorong were highly acknowledged hard-working employees in their workplace. They have no hatred or regret despite of the injustice against them. [China] "Most of the practitioners that I know are determined about Falun Dafa" "Please tell the overseas practitioners, most of the practitioners that I know are still determined about Falun Dafa. Of course, they have different difficulties to overcome, and they have different levels of understandings about the teachings of Falun Dafa. Currently, many of them have resumed their group study and practice, and they are telling people the truth of Falun Dafa in different ways. The environment is still quite harsh, and all the places that have copier machines are under close surveillance. Some practitioners have been arrested for distributing Falun Dafa fliers. Let' make progress in our cultivation practice together." By a practitioner in China. [Henan Province] Exposing Spies: claiming to be "enlightened", and attempting to mislead detained practitioners There are two spies from Zhengshou City who claime that they have reached "enlightenment". They are now attempting to cause confusions among practitioners, saying that there is no need to practice anymore because enlightenment has already been achieved. More than 100 practitioners are being detained in the Eighteen Li He Labor Camp of Zhengzhou City of Henan Province. A spy from Beijing has formed a "preaching group" or "persuading group", and they are attempting to undermine the righteous mind of detained practitioners. Several spies would work on one practitioner to persuade the practitioner to give up the "attachment" to Falun Dafa, and turn in the books, and write the pledge, and so on. They have been spreading such things that are completely against the principles of Falun Dafa. It is our hope that practitioners could stay alert, and work hard on studying the books. [China] Spreading the truth of Falun Dafa using all possible means Recently, the practitioners of a Province have printed over 2 million copies of flyers of Falun Dafa in order to spread the truth of Falun Dafa. [China] Family members of detained practitioners petition for loved ones In a city, over 100 practitioners who had gone go Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong were sentenced with one to 3 years of forced labor. These practitioners were from all walks of life. Their ages ranged from 20 to 70. According to the news sources, more practitioners would be sentenced. Now the family members of these sentenced practitioners are planning to exercise their constitutional rights by going to the City government or Beijing government to make appeals, in order to prevent their families from being broken apart. In the past year, numerous happy families were broken apart because of the government' crackdown on Falun Gong. [Henan Province] Persecutions against practitioners in Henan Province 10 practitioners from the Zhoukou City of Henan Province were arrested on May 11, 2000 and were detained in the Zhoukou City Detention Center. They were released after 12 days of hunger strike (no food and no water). Practitioner from Zhoukou City, Wang Chi, was sentenced with one year of forced-labor for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong many times. A couple from the Huaiyang County got arrested for continuing to practice Falun Gong. Six police officers beat up the husband using leather belts in front of the wife for over 6 hours, threatening the wife to give up Falun Gong. However, the couple did not give in. Later, the husband was sentenced with one year of forced labor. At that time, the father of the husband died of deep worries over his arrest. The police asked the husband, "Do you want to go home to take a look at your father or go to the labor camp directly?" The husband said, "Since my family has already been broken apart, it is meaningless for me to go home." Before the couple were separated, the wife told the husband, "Let us meet again on our way home!" [Lanzhou] Police Stole Practitioners' Letters Not long ago, the police officers from Gansu Province have stolen many practitioners' private letters in collusion with the local postal offices. This has constituted a severe violation of the law. [Hebei] Human rights violations against practitioners Yang Shuqin, female, an employee from the Production Materials Company of Pingquan County, Hebei Province. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on April 25 of 1999, July 21 of 1999, April 25 of 2000, and June 16 of 2000. She is now being detained in the Pingquan County Detention Center. She has a 17-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter left at home. Her husband had passed away. She was tortured by police officers, led by Tong Lijun, the director of the Political Security Section of the Pingquan County police department. Wang Shuwen, male, from Qijiadai Village of Pingquan County. He and his wife, Liu Yulan, were taken away respectively on this April 27 and this May 10. A teenager child and an aged parent in 60s were left at home, without any financial income. In this June, the police officer Tong Lijun and Hu Qiwen tried to extort money from the aged parent, claiming that they would release Mr. Wang and Ms. Liu if he paied the demanded money. The parent did not give in to the demand because he knew that there was nothing wrong to practice Falun Dafa to be good people. Therefore, the couple of Mr. Wang and Ms. Liu have been detained up to now. The younger brother of Mr. Wang, Wang Jinquan, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on this June 16. He has been in custdy since he was escorted back from Beijing. He was tortured by police officers including Liu Yanjun, the deputy director of the Political Security Section of the Pingquan County police department. Practitioner Liu Wenji, from Yuhuangmiao of Shatuozi Village, Pingquan County, Hebei Province, has been detained up to now for no good reason after being arrested on this April 1st. The police officers Tong Lijun and Hu Qiwen etc took these practitioners to the police department just because they suspected that they were the "organizers". They tortured these practitioners by all kinds of means for up to several hours. Tong Lijun, one of the thugs, in his 30s, the director of the Political Security Section of the County police department, is now ill and in hospital. Other thugs included Liu Yanjun, the deputy director of the Political Security Section of the Pingquan County police department, Hu Qiwen, the instructor of the Political Security Section of the Pingquan County police department, and Tian Baojin, a police officer from director of the Political Security Section of the Pingquan County police department. [Harbin] All Phones Being Monitored According the news sources, all the phones including the public telephones in Harbin City are being monitored by the police. [Beijing] Over 1,000 Practitioners were detained in the Tiantanghe Labor Camp in this July. The recent situation of detained practitioners is unknown since the regime is blocking the news. [Guangzhou] Arbitrary detentions and sentences Wang Ying, female, 41 years old, an engineer from the Guangdong Province Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was taken away from her home by the police on July 8, 2000. She has been sent to the Cuotou Labor Camp for two years of forced labor. There were more practitioners who were taken away for no good reasons and then sent to labor camps for forced labor. They were Xu Juhua, Ye Huizhu, and Zhou Mongtong etc.
