(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old woman in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, was sentenced to three and a half years for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org has learned recently.
Ms. Hu Wangxiang was arrested at home on May 28, 2025. It is unclear when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. It was reported that she was allowed to serve time outside of prison, but she is still being held at an unknown facility in Wuchang District.
This is not the first time that Ms. Hu has been targeted for her faith. She and her late husband, Mr. Li Keming, also a Falun Gong practitioner, were repeatedly arrested after the communist regime launched a nationwide campaign against their shared faith in July 1999.
Mr. Li was given two years of forced labor in September 2001. Ms. Hu went to the local social security office to process her annual pension review on July 3, 2006, and was deceived into going to another office by two men. They kept her in custody for some time.
After another arrest on July 13, 2010, Ms. Hu was sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Li was dealt a blow by his wife’s imprisonment, and his health steadily declined. He was hospitalized in 2019 and needed help to walk after he was discharged. The couple faced constant harassment from the local community office. Mr. Li died around the second half of 2021, at the age of 72.
Ms. Hu’s health worsened after her husband’s passing. Her eyesight was poor. Despite her condition, the local community office dispatched a staffer to “check in on her” every day, to see if she had gone out to talk to people about Falun Gong.
After Ms. Hu was arrested again on May 28, 2025, her family was kept in the dark of her case status. They only recently learned of her prison sentence but are still waiting for her to be released to serve time at home.
