(Minghui.org) A 61-year-old woman in Beijing was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on March 24, 2026, after officers from the Miaocheng Town Police Station shattered a window and broke in to her home.

The police raided Ms. Wu Guoqin’s home and confiscated her computer, printer, cell phone, and Falun Gong books. No officers produced their IDs or a search warrant. They took Ms. Wu to the Miaocheng Town Police Station that evening and transferred her to the Shunyi District Detention Center two days later, where she has been held since.

Ms. Wu was targeted because of her faith in Falun Gong, which she took up in 1997. She credits the practice for enabling her to recover from various ailments, including anemia, low blood platelet count, tuberculosis, and sinusitis. After the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against the practice, Ms. Wu held firm to her faith and was repeatedly targeted.

Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wu has been arrested three times. She served a 1.5-year forced labor camp term and a two-year prison term. Her husband divorced her because of the persecution. Ms. Wu was also fired from her job and had to make a living by cleaning a residential complex.

Details of Past Persecution

Ms. Wu was arrested on October 15, 2001, by officers from the Miaocheng Town Police Station. Her employer fired her and stripped her of all benefits. She was held at a brainwashing session for one week before being given a 1.5-year labor camp term. Unable to cope with the pressure of the persecution, her husband divorced her. Ms. Wu’s father was dealt a blow by his daughter’s incarceration and suffered a stroke. He became incapacitated and passed away in the summer of 2004.

On April 20, 2016, as Ms. Wu was taking out her trash early in the morning, she was arrested by police officers who were staked outside her home. They handcuffed her and took her away. Several officers raided her home, confiscating a media player, cell phone, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. She was held at the Chaoyang District Detention Center for one month.

Ms. Wu was arrested again at 7:20 a.m. on August 10, 2022, during a police sweep that seized 21 other local practitioners. Her computer, printer, cell phone, speaker, Falun Gong books, flash drives, and memory cards were confiscated. She was held at the Huairou District Detention Center and was later sentenced to two years with a 5,000-yuan fine by the Huairou District Court.

Ms. Wu was transferred to the Beijing Women’s Prison on April 20, 2023, and held in the Third Division, where Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to severe persecution. She was assigned to a regular division on November 6, 2023, where she was forced to work without pay. She was released on August 9, 2024.

Upon returning home, Ms. Wu still faced constant harassment by the Miaocheng Town Police. Around 7 p.m. on November 26, 2024, officers Wang Bingyin and Sun Zuolun harassed her. Wang and another officer knocked on her door again around 6: 30 p.m. on April 25, 2025, and demanded that she give them her phone number. Wang and deputy police chief Qin Zhen returned at 3 p.m. on December 10; as Ms. Wu wasn’t home, they came back to harass her after 5 p.m.
