(Minghui.org) A married couple in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province were arrested for their faith in Falun Gong. While the wife was released on bail 37 days later, the husband remains in custody.

Mr. Li Rongxin, 71, and his wife, Ms. Guo Lizhi, were home at noon on February 4, 2026, when seven agents from the Huanggu District Domestic Security Office and the Huanghe Police Station suddenly showed up. The couple refused to let them in, and they pried open the door.

The police spent the next three hours raiding the home, confiscating the couple’s Falun Gong books, printer, radio, and memory cards. One officer also slammed to the ground a portrait of the Falun Gong founder.

Ms. Guo was released on bail 37 days later. Mr. Li remains at the Huanggu District Detention Center. Despite pressure from the guards, he refused to write statements to renounce his faith.

The case now rests with the Dadong District Procuratorate.

Falun Gong Changed Their Lives

Ms. Guo used to suffer from poor health. Mr. Li did all of the household chores and took care of their daughter, on top of doing his full-time job as an elementary school teacher. The couple later began to practice Falun Gong, and Ms. Guo recovered from her symptoms. She was able to share in the household chores and work to support the family.

The couple also learned to be better people. The village roads were full of potholes and became muddy after rain, often causing horse-drawn carts and oxcarts to get stuck. The couple bought cement and sand, and repaired the roads on their own to help the community.
