“Every Detail Was Perfect”

Fubuki Takane (The Epoch Times)

Fubuki Takane, a former lead performer of the Takarazuka Revue’s Snow Troupe, saw Shen Yun in Nishinomiya on April 28.

“What stunned me was that all of the performers’ physical abilities were extremely exceptional. It made me wonder how much arduous training it took! The performers’ backs were very soft, and their groin areas were so flexible as if the hip joints didn’t exist,” she said.

“The male classical dance moved me. It was truly outstanding for a male to be able to extend their emotions and control to their fingertips. Regular performers can rarely be so subtle and make their nerve endings full of expressiveness.

“The female classical dance was also very exquisite and meticulous, which was also my favorite part.

“Compared to ballet, Shen Yun’s performance contained more dramatic elements and deeper meaning. The dancers’ smiles were very elegant and full of grace. Their graceful smiles make you feel refreshed. All of the female performers truly looked like celestial maidens. Extremely outstanding.

“There was no halfhearted attitude at all. From fingertips to toe-tips – every detail was perfect,” she said.

“The Glory of Real China”

Keiko Kawazoe, author and media personality, and a friend saw Shen Yun in Tokyo on May 13. She had seen Shen Yun before and invited eight friends to watch it together this time.

“I think the performance has the unique charm of the Chinese people,” she said.

“[The soprano’s performance] is always so beautiful. And from a certain perspective, I think this song can also resonate with Japanese people. Because in modern China, especially the China under communist rule, the people tend to focus on money, power, and status. The Japanese, on the other hand, especially like things that are beautiful and contain sincerity. So based on my feelings, this song and the dancing exactly resonated with the audience through spiritual connection.

“I think Shen Yun presented another side of China, the glory of real China. It’s great,” she said.

“An Extremely Artistic and Delightful Performance”

Hiroshi Ueno (The Epoch Times)

Hiroshi Ueno, member of Japan’s House of Representatives, saw Shen Yun in Tokyo on May 12.

“An extremely artistic and delightful performance,” he described Shen Yun.

“Coming to witness it in person this time, I deeply feel that this is an extremely precious culture. This is a genuinely high-quality performance, and I hope more people can be familiar with it,” he said.

“Like this performance presented, Chinese people originally had such wonderful culture and traditions, but these were gradually lost. So this is also an opportunity for us – including myself – to look back and reflect on ourselves.

“Many people still do not know what is happening inside Chinese borders. But I believe that it is through this kind of performance today that people can further learn about these realities,” he said.

“I Didn’t Know It Was So Wonderful”

Naohiro Komasa (The Epoch Times)

Hospital director Naohiro Komasa saw Shen Yun in Nishinomiya on April 29.

“The performance was truly excellent! It made me feel that this is an outstanding culture that Japan does not have,” he said.

“You also rarely see these in the world. I didn’t know it was so wonderful before. I’m deeply moved after watching it.

“It was a brand new breath of air. It made me feel the flavor of traditional China... It was a kind of calm and peaceful air that was delivered. I truly felt it. This is the original appearance of China.

“It presented the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture in a clear way,” he said.

“A Soul-stunning Performance”

Hikari Tokuyama, a former program host at NHK, and her husband Tadao Fujimoto, president of a video production company, saw Shen Yun in Tokyo on May 13.

“This performance sent a message that today’s earth needs the most. It was truly a soul-stunning performance. Fortunately I came,” Ms. Tokuyama said.

“I feel that everyone is a divine being from heaven. In other words, everyone has love as well as divine nature in their hearts... The performance shared many messages about karmic retribution and more, which deeply touched my heart,” she said.

Mr. Fujimoto said, “In the images on the large screen, even the very subtle places were depicted in great detail. The cooperation between the graphics and performers was basically seamless, which was amazing.”

He also shared that he felt the message that “as long as we maintain honesty and kindness, we will eventually be saved by the divine.”

“Truly Excellent”

Ena Yamato (The Epoch Times)

Stage producer and cultural critic Ena Yamato saw Shen Yun in Nishinomiya on April 29.

“Truly excellent! The stories connected heaven and earth and showed interactions between the heaven and human world, as well as the presence of the divine – very stunning,” she said.

“During the whole performance, the performers even fully conveyed the subtle expressions... To achieve that, pure training is not enough... This was no longer pure dancing, but required concentration. I feel that in order to complete today’s performance, [faith in] Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is very necessary.

“Modern society and nature are sometime disconnected. So watching Shen Yun probably allows people to remember that preciousness. I hope this kind of performance can become an opportunity for people to recall the connection with the divine,” she said.

“This Willpower Is Truly Touching”

Yoshirou Nagata and wife (The Epoch Times)

Accounting firm owner Yoshirou Nagata and his wife saw Shen Yun in Fukuoka on May 5.

“They put in a lot of work to practice. But what’s more valuable is that they are bearing China’s culture and history, and at the same time also holding on to their beliefs. This willpower is truly touching,” Mr. Nagata said.

His wife shared, “While they are passing on China’s ancient dance traditions, they are also sharing a message – despite facing communism’s persecution and hardships today, they will continue forward.”

Chinese Tourist: “Its Significance Is Truly Enormous”

Ms. Bai, a Chinese tourist in Tokyo, saw Shen Yun on May 13.

“Both the male and female dancers embodied a balance of strength and grace, a harmony of yin and yang,” Ms. Bai said. “Their movements radiated a majestic and uplifting power from within, leaving the audience with a profound sense of hope and possibility.”

After watching the performance, Ms. Bai said she had gained a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese culture. “I deeply felt the traditional Chinese teaching that good and evil each bring their own recompense, and that people should maintain their faith during difficult times.”

One scene that especially stood out to her depicted the Monkey King seeking spiritual instruction from a master. “The old Taoist master accepted many disciples, but one by one they gave up under harsh conditions—wind, frost, rain, and snow. In the end, only Monkey King persevered. It made me feel that in life, people must go through hardships in order to gain enlightenment. Only after enduring such trials can one ultimately achieve fulfillment.”

Ms. Bai said the performance’s emphasis on upholding kindness and virtue is especially important in today’s society. “There is so much confusion and moral disorder in the world today that many people feel anxious, lost, and unsure of how to face life. At such times, people need a kind of spiritual support to guide their thoughts, inner spirit, and actions, so that the body and mind can ultimately become fully aligned and harmonious.”

She said that the spiritual themes conveyed by Shen Yun inspire people to reflect on their own spiritual growth. She recalled a Mongolian dance in which a monk in Buddhist robes paid homage to heaven and earth, followed by a group dance performed by female artists. “This dance conveyed a sense of unity woven throughout the performance. Within this kind of divinely inspired culture, one can feel an eternal and ever-renewing force of life.”

She believes that reverence for the divine and respect for heaven and earth are deeply important. “I believe human beings are created by heaven and earth, so there is an inherent connection between people and the source of their lives. When you revere heaven and believe in the divine, it creates an inner thread that allows you to sense the messages the divine is trying to convey.”

Reflecting on Shen Yun’s mission to revive traditional culture, Ms. Bai said, “Its significance is truly enormous. Anyone who watches it can feel the wisdom, strength, and righteous energy within the performance. This kind of power can overcome all negative things and unhealthy states of mind.”

She added that some people communicate with their inner selves through practices such as meditation, “and that, too, is part of the process of rediscovering oneself.”

As Shen Yun tours the world presenting traditional Chinese culture, Ms. Bai said that Chinese culture itself contains profound wisdom and spiritual richness. “People in other countries also see this tradition as something magnificent, which shows that beautiful things can be recognized and appreciated no matter where they are,” she said.
