(Minghui.org) Seven residents of Anshun City, Guizhou Province, face trial because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
The seven Falun Gong practitioners were arrested after August 20, 2025 (exact arrest times unknown except for one practitioner). Prosecutor Song Zhihua from the Xixiu District Procuratorate and his assistant Tian Jundong indicted the practitioners around February 2026.
Judge Liu Bangyu from the Xixiu District Court will preside over the trial (no court date yet). He will be assisted by clerk Wang Xiangkai.
Three Still in Detention
Ms. Cheng Hua, 79, Ms. Luan Yuqi, and Ms. Lin Lanfen, 79, are all held at the Anshun City Second Detention Center. Ms. Luan was found to have high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Ms. Cheng and Ms. Lin are held in the detention center’s in-house hospital; it’s not clear what their medical conditions are.
Officers Liang Wei and Zhang Tao from the Xixiu District Police Department went to the Guizhou Province First Women’s Prison to interrogate a practitioner jailed there who knew Ms. Luan and Ms. Huang Mingying (who is currently under house arrest). The police attempted to extract confessions from the jailed practitioner to use as evidence against Ms. Luan and Ms. Huang.
Ms. Lin previously served six years in prison, and Ms. Cheng served three years for practicing Falun Gong. See the related reports for their past persecution.
One Under House Arrest
The aforementioned Ms. Huang was arrested on August 22, 2025. Officers Qian Sha, Wu Yu, and Zhang from the Xixiu District Police Department, raided her home and took her to the police department. They told her family that they released her around 10 p.m., but they actually handed her over to Geng Yafeng from the local street committee and Zhong Yudong from the Xixiu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee.
Geng Yafeng and Zhong Yudong took Ms. Huang to a 14-day brainwashing session in a hotel. She was then transferred to the Anshun City Second Detention Center under criminal detention. Her daughter called government hotlines and went to the local police department and the procuratorate to file complaints against the perpetrators, but to no avail.
Ms. Huang was later released on house arrest. One of her family members intended to represent her as a non-lawyer defender, but the judge rejected the request.
Two On Bail
Ms. Sun Runlan and Ms. Yang Yuying, around 80, are both released on bail.
One With Unknown Detention Status
Mr. Shuai Shimin’s detention status is unclear but it was confirmed that he, Ms. Luan, and Ms. Sun were held at the same hotel for the some 14-day brainwashing session that Ms. Huang was, after they were arrested.
