(Minghui.org) Four Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province residents who had been out on bail were taken back into custody right after their fourth court hearing ended at 4:50 p.m. on March 19, 2026.
Ms. Lai Chunlian, 73; Mr. Wang Guozhong (who is disabled), in his early 40s; Ms. Huang Yuping, 64; and Mr. Liu Haitao, in his 50s, were arrested on July 12, 2024. Also seized on the same day were six other local residents, including Mr. Wang Nanfang, 70; Mr. Zhou Shuyou, 62; Mr. Wang Zexing, 58; Ms. Hu Fengju, in her 60s; Ms. Hu Mingli, in her 60s; and Ms. Li Shuqin (who has vision impairment and needs help with walking), in her 60s.
The ten of them were targeted because of their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Lai, Mr. Wang Guozhong, Ms. Huang, Mr. Liu and Ms. Li were soon released on bail (exact time unknown), while the other five practitioners remained in detention.
Prosecutor Wang Jun from the Wanghua District Procuratorate indicted the ten practitioners on December 20, 2024. Judge Gang Jia from the Wanghua District Court in Fushun City, which oversees Qingyuan County, held four hearings of the joint case, on November 11, 2025, January 27, March 18, and March 19, 2026, respectively. Ms. Lai, Mr. Wang Guozhong, Ms. Huang, and Mr. Liu were taken back into custody right after the fourth hearing ended. It is unclear where they are being held. Ms. Li’s situation is unclear.
Ms. Lai used to be bedridden, but she was able to walk again after she took up Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang Guozhong sustained a severe leg injury when he was around 24. A piece of bone about the size of a thumbnail was missing, and his leg kept oozing pus. His doctor recommended amputation, and he declined. After caring for him in the hospital for two years, his wife lost hope and divorced him. She also abandoned their three-year-old daughter and gave him full custody. He was devastated and checked out of the hospital. Not long after, someone introduced Falun Gong to him. He was soon able to walk and take care of himself. He regained hope in life.
Ms. Huang used to frequent the hospital for her bronchitis, heart disease, pulmonary disease, sequelae of concussion, and vertigo. After she took up Falun Gong in 1997, all of her symptoms disappeared. She also became a better daughter-in-law and took meticulous care of her parents-in-law.
