Only By Believing in Master and Dafa Can One Walk on the Cultivation Path

(Minghui.org) During my 29 years of cultivation, for a long period of time, my understanding of supernatural abilities seemed to be superficial. Through studying the Fa more, I understood that supernatural abilities are actually a part of cultivation. They are something that a person naturally and inevitably possesses, much like the hands and feet of everyday people. They are the basic abilities that a cultivator can use.

Several years ago, a fellow practitioner and I were reported and arrested for clarifying the truth in the countryside. In the police station, we loudly repeated “Falun Dafa is good.” Then three police officers took me to a restroom where there were no security cameras. They hit me hard, my glasses fell off. My righteous thoughts were very strong, and a thought, “Resisting the tormentors” flashed into my mind.

Master said,

“When you are persecuted in any way you can use righteous thoughts to turn the tables on the bad people and stop the persecution.” (“Stop the Evil Acts With Righteous Thoughts,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)

As soon as I had that thought, a white light flashed between the policemen. The glasses of one officer fell off. He covered his face with his hands and left the restroom. The other two officers became quiet and stayed away from me, no matter how loud I shouted. It was Master who protected me. It was true that we can demonstrate supernatural powers. In my subsequent cultivation, I continuously enlightened that one should not seek supernatural abilities as they would only appear in processes of Fa-validation and beings salvation.

Master said in Lecture Three of Zhuan Falun,

“Supernormal abilities are only by-products of one’s cultivation process and do not represent one’s level. They represent neither the height of one’s level nor the power of one’s gong potency. Some people develop more of them while others develop fewer. Furthermore, supernormal abilities are not something that can be obtained by pursuing them as the main objective of cultivation. Only when a person has decided for sure that he truly wants to cultivate can he develop supernormal abilities; they cannot be treated as the main objective of cultivation.”

and

“While he was doing good deeds, he could develop his own supernormal abilities and build up his own gong at the same time.”

After being released from prison, I had an attachment of fear and wished to always be protected from harm. When I went out to help Master rectify the Fa and save people, I was afraid of the cameras that were seen everywhere on the streets. A child who got burned dreads fire. Fears would easily arise when I saw cameras, police cars, etc. Only by having righteous thoughts could I overcome them.

A practitioner once said that fellow practitioners were often invisible in surveillance videos. Since the abilities can be used for the purpose of saving people, I thus thought of using my abilities to communicate with the cameras.The biggest obstacle in the use of abilities is the attachment of fear.

One day, I held a beautiful hand-crafted Dafa calendar and sent forth righteous thoughts towards the street cameras, saying “You are also beings during the Fa-rectification period. You must have made the right choice for a bright future for yourselves.” Instantly, I felt myself peacefully standing in a strong energy field and my fears disappeared. That year, the calendars were distributed very smoothly, and I made great breakthroughs in face-to-face truth clarification.

Master taught us, “Only at the critical moment can we see our heart” (“Huge Exposure,” Essentials for Further Improvement). We should put the Fa first and safeguard Dafa projects. When our mind is focused on saving people, all negative thoughts including fear will be denied. I remind myself to have righteous thoughts, for many lives are waiting to be saved.

Righteous thoughts must be continuously strengthened and abilities honed through practice. The stronger our righteous thoughts become, the easier the principles of the Fa will be revealed. The universe is composed of energy, and practitioners possess the strongest energy and the greatest power. When we truly have no fear, all frightening factors will vanish under our powerful energy.
