(Minghui.org) Practitioners from Massachusetts and Rhode Island participated in the Lowell Folk Festival July 26 and 27, 2025. They introduced Falun Dafa and told people how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes it in China. Many people stopped to listen and signed a petition calling on the US Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act. Chinese people praised Falun Dafa and said practitioners were doing a great job.
This diverse folk festival has been held for over 20 years and features performances by famous dance groups, folk singers, and musicians. Along with children’s games, there are stalls selling ethnic food and handicrafts from different countries. The local museums and art galleries are all open to visitors.
Practitioners participated in the Lowell Folk Festival July 26-27.
A mother and her daughter came to the Falun Dafa booth. The mother pointed to practitioners demonstrating the exercises and told her daughter, “I sense their energy. It’s very strong. This is what I’m looking for.” She accepted a practitioner’s invitation to try the exercises and said after a while, “My hands are warm. It feels as though there is very strong energy flowing in my palms and body.” Elated, she took the Falun Dafa introductory materials and information about the free class and said she would continue doing the exercises.
Today Is a Life-Changing Day
A young couple who watched practitioners demonstrating the exercises started to copy their movements. When a practitioner encouraged them, saying that Falun Dafa was very easy to learn, they stayed and learned all five.
They said they became interested in Chinese qigong ten years ago and had paid to learn Tai Chi from a local master. The practitioner told them Falun Dafa is not just about doing the exercises, that it is a cultivation practice rooted in the Buddhist tradition, and the exercises are easy to learn and are taught free-of-charge. She told them that Falun Dafa practitioners abide by Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance to cultivate themselves and become good people. The couple took flyers and said they would continue doing the exercises at home. They thanked the practitioner and said, “Today is a life-changing day for us.”
Another young couple stopped at the booth, and a practitioner told them about Falun Dafa and how the CCP has persecuted it in China for 26 years. She then told them that the CCP, which disdains and suppresses traditional culture, is now exporting its ideology throughout the world. Falun Dafa promotes Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, teaches people to be good, and fosters traditional culture and traditional values.
She explained that, if people abide by Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, are honest and kind, and are willing to accept other peoples’ differences, they will be able to trust and tolerate one another and thereby get along better. If a country and its people can abide by Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, it will be blessed by Heaven.
When she said that if everyone stood up for justice the persecution would end, the couple agreed and said that it was only logical.
Another young couple who asked about Falun Dafa expressed their regret that they could not sign the petition because they were foreign students studying in the United States. However, they are very supportive of practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution and asked many questions about cultivation. A practitioner told them that after many well-educated people began practicing Falun Dafa, they found answers to many of their questions about life. The couple took information about the Falun Dafa website.
“Falun Dafa Has Done a Great Job”
As a Chinese couple was passing by the booth, the man smiled at a practitioner, who smiled back and greeted them. The man said, “Falun Dafa practitioners have done a great job.”
When a girl from Beijing and her friend came to the booth, a practitioner explained why practitioners were participating in the event. She told them about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa and that they were there collecting signatures on a petition that calls for it to end. When the girl asked another practitioner if the persecution was really true, that practitioner replied, “Yes, it is. The whole world knows about it.”
After listening to the practitioner’s explanation, the girl read the exhibition board, and she and her friend both signed the petition. She expressed her thanks before she left.
People Sign the Petition to Support the Falun Gong Protection Act
A group of girls came to the booth and signed the petition. A young man stopped by and listened to a practitioner tell him about the persecution. He signed the petition to support the Falun Gong Protection Act and then brought two friends over. They talked with practitioners and also signed it.
