63-Year-Old Grandmother Jailed for 8 Months for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Ms. Fang Limei, 63, completed an eight-month prison term on August 9, 2025. She was incarcerated because she practices Falun Gong.

Ms. Fang, who lives in Puning City, Guangdong Province, raised her granddaughter by herself. She cleaned homes and other odd jobs to put the younger woman through college. It was Falun Gong that gave her the strength to make it through the hard life.

A group of officers from the Puning City Domestic Security Office and Chengxi Police Station, together with staff from the Xiyuan Street Committee, broke into Ms. Fang’s rental place on December 10, 2024 and arrested her. They suspected her of putting up adhesive stickers which had Falun Gong messages and took her to the Puning City Detention Center.

The Jiedong District Court in Jieyang City, which oversees Puning City, sentenced Ms. Fang to eight months and fined her 5,000 yuan on June 30, 2025. She finished serving time on August 9, 2025.
