(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Hailiang Arrested
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shao Held in Detention Center
3. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Xiuqin Held in Detention Center
4. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Yuhong Arrested
5. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Three Practitioners Admitted to Prison
6. [Tianjin] Four Practitioners Harassed
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Two Practitioners Arrested
1. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Hailiang Arrested
Mr. Li Hailiang was arrested in another city at 9 a.m. on August 9, 2025, and taken back to Guan County by a group of plainclothes officers. Guan County Police Department officers ransacked his home and forced a relative of his, a woman in her 70s, to pay a 2,000 yuan fine for him and fingerprint his case document.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shao Held in Detention Center
Mr. Shao, a dentist, was arrested on the morning of August 7, 2025, by officers from the Changchun City Police Department and Changchun City Domestic Security Division. He is being held in Weizigou Detention Center.
3. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Xiuqin Held in Detention Center
The police called Ms. Yu Xiuqin’s husband at noon on August 6, 2025, and said they would come to take a look at their home. When the officers arrived, the couple refused to open the door for them. When Ms. Yu went out to dump a bag of trash in the early evening, she was arrested by officers who had been waiting outside.
The police ransacked Ms. Yu’s home the next day and arrested her husband, who had just returned from the hospital after dialysis. They placed him under detention first and later released him given his health condition. Ms. Yu is currently being held in Tonghua County Detention Center.
The officers questioned Ms. Yu for her computer password and forced her husband to report the practitioners who had contact with Ms. Yu. They also ordered her husband to report immediately as soon as any practitioner comes to visit.
Ms. Yu’s husband is having dialysis three times a week. He is traumatized by the arrest and harassment, and his health has taken a turn for the worse.
4. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Yuhong Arrested
Ms. Zhao Yuhong was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in the downtown area on the morning of August 5, 2025. Five officers from Zhaoyuan City Domestic Security Division broke into her home. They arrested her, ransacked her home, and confiscated all her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Luofeng Police Station and released that afternoon.
5. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Three Practitioners Admitted to Prison
Ms. Jin Yunbi, Ms. Zhang Changyun, and Ms. Wang Guoxiu were sentenced to prison in 2023. Their terms were from two to two and a half years. While they were allowed to serve time at home initially, the authorities still jailed them in 2024. Ms. Jin developed a severe medical condition in custody and has been released on medical parole. The other two practitioners are still detained.
6. [Tianjin] Four Practitioners Harassed
Ms. Ding Youlin, Ms. Zheng Yujuan, and Ms. Kong Defeng were harassed over the phone or at home by Nanjiang Police Station officers.
Ms. Li Shufang was harassed by Gegu Police Station officers.
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Two Practitioners Arrested
As soon as Ms. Sun Xiuyun left another practitioner Li’s home on August 9, 2025, after they studied Falun Gong’s teachings together, she was arrested by eight plainclothes officers from Nanzhi Road Police Station who had been staking out. Another elderly female practitioner was also taken away, and she was released the same day. Ms. Sun’s current condition is unknown.
