New York: Rally Congratulates 450 Million Chinese People Who Quit the CCP Organizations

(Minghui.org) The Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP Center held a rally in front of the Queens Public Library in Flushing, New York, on August 10, 2025, to celebrate the 450 million Chinese people who have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations.

A number of supporters delivered speeches during the rally, including a former New York State Lieutenant Governor, a State University Chief Information Officer, the Chairman of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP Center, community leaders, prominent lawyers, and an Army chaplain. Volunteers, and representatives of the withdrawal movement also spoke. 

Central to each address was that the massive movement to quit the CCP is great awakening for the Chinese people and the most effective way to peacefully dismantle the CCP. They pointed out that quitting the CCP is not a political struggle for power, but rather, it is a moral choice and salvation of the soul. They expressed their respect and admiration for the brave people who have quit the CCP and for the volunteers who assist in their withdrawals, especially the volunteers in China.

Former New York State Lieutenant Governor: Tyranny Can Be Defeated

Betsy McCaughey, a former New York State Lieutenant Governor and co-founder of SaveNYC, condemned the CCP’s infiltration into the United States and called on the state and local police to stop the CCP’s secret police in the U.S.

“The penetration of the CCP—its illegal, secret, and violent ways inside the United States—must be stopped. They intimidate, they injure, they threaten Chinese people here who have left the Party; that must stop,” she said. She pointed out that the withdrawals of 450 million people from the CCP organizations deliver a clear message to the world that tyranny can be defeated.

“This is not about politics. It is about humanity. It is deep within our core as humans to want freedom. It is about the right to live with dignity, to believe what we choose without fear.”

Community Leader: An Important Milestone Against CCP Tyranny

Martha Flores-Vazquez, a Democratic community leader in the New York State 40th Assembly District, presented an award to the Global Service Center for Quitting CCP Center.

She said, “The 450 million Chinese people who have quit the CCP are a significant milestone in the global resistance to its tyranny. Quitting the CCP has become the largest grassroots movement in human history, peacefully upholding conscience, dignity, and truth.”

She said that the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party have given people around the world critical insight into the CCP’s deceptive nature and reign of terror. The thriving “Quitting the CCP” movement represents a peaceful transformation rooted in personal awakening and moral courage, offering a new vision for a world free of communist oppression.

Ms. Flores-Vazquez concluded, “We celebrate the 450 million Chinese people who have courageously abandoned the CCP and commend the moral courage of all participants in this peaceful movement and their commitment to truth and freedom.”

Wang Zhiyuan, Chairman of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP Center and Director of the International Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, also addressed the rally. He said, “The CCP is not a political party—it is a transnational criminal group cloaked in the guise of sovereignty. It is a state-run terrorist organization that uses the state apparatus to maintain violence and export terror. It even attempts to conduct transnational repression and persecution. This is not just to suppress faith, but to achieve its strategic ambition of global hegemony. Therefore, the United States can no longer remain silent, and the free world cannot tolerate it any longer.”

Supporting Those Who Have Withdrawn from the CCP

Ye Ning, a prominent New York lawyer, said that in Chinese communities people ask each other, “Have you quit?”

Ye Ning said, “Quitting the CCP is the strongest voice emanating from China right now. The founder of Falun Gong has brought up a group of the finest people. They have provided all of humanity with the best way to peacefully disintegrate the CCP—by quitting the CCP.

“For over 80 years since World War II, the world’s elite have been helpless in the face of the CCP’s rise. Falun Gong practitioners have provided humanity with the best, low-cost way to disintegrate the CCP—by quitting the Party and thus dismantling it.” He expressed his deepest gratitude and admiration for the Quitting the Party movement.

Lin Xiaoxu, a member of the Committee on the Present Danger in China, praised those who have withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated organizations in China, calling them the backbone of the Chinese people. He said, “Hundreds of millions of Chinese people have experienced a spiritual awakening, and this has been very peaceful.” He also said that the withdrawal movement represents the awakening of the Chinese people, but that the power of this awakening has not yet been fully recognized in the West. He said overseas Chinese have a responsibility to make this awakening known to people outside of China.

Another speaker at the event was Michael Pastine, Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the Information Technology Services at the State University of New York at Old Westbury. He applauded those who have chosen to quit the CCP.

“Each one of them has broken through the wall of lies. Each one is a digital and spiritual defector—walking away from a system that values power over people, and control over conscience,” he said.

Mr. Pastine pointed out that the Nine Commentaries expose the corruption and hypocrisy of the CCP’s ideology and has triggered a huge awakening, which frightens the CCP. He believes this precisely demonstrates that freedom of thought is humanity’s most powerful firewall against despotism. He said, “As long as people choose truth, no algorithm, and no surveillance system, no dictatorship, can win.”

Dr. Xiong Yan, a U.S. Army chaplain and leader of the 1989 Tiananmen student movement, said he saw Falun Gong practitioners, despite the CCP’s brutal persecution, continue to raise awareness and persuade their countrymen to quit the CCP in a peaceful and rational manner: “I deeply admire them. They have no hatred, but they have firm faith; they have no weapons, but they have unshakable courage.”

Xiong Yan said that quitting the CCP is a confession of sin and repentance, a baptism of the soul, a response to God, a rejection of evil, and a commitment to the future. “It is not a political struggle, but a moral choice; it is not a struggle for power, but the salvation of the soul.”

Chinese People Express Support

Flushing is the largest Chinese community in New York and in North America, with a daily visitor flow of more than 100,000 people, second only to Times Square in Manhattan. When pedestrians on Main Street saw the rally, many stopped to listen and express their support.

Mr. He, a former mainland Chinese media professional, stopped at the rally on his way to church and said, “This is my first time seeing a Quitting the CCP rally. I was surprised, truly touched! It’s remarkable! Chinese people are all afraid of the CCP. In fact, most people dislike it, but they dare not speak out. Even in the United States, they still feel fear because that regime is so terrifying.”

Mr. He said that for years he was a quiet and low-key person, and like some passersby, he didn’t dare to speak out. But the righteous spirit of this rally inspired him and lifted his fear. He couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up and said, “Falun Gong practitioners are amazing! They are truly amazing! They are the most courageous, their stance is the clearest, and their persistence is the longest. I am truly amazed!”

Gu Yuan, an electrical automation engineer at a major international American company watched the rally with great interest, and applauded every speaker enthusiastically. He said, “Many Chinese people pursue financial gain and material comforts, only to be exploited by the CCP. In fact, spiritual awakening is a person’s greatest happiness and fortune, surpassing wealth and material possessions.”

Gu said he himself was a beneficiary of the quitting the CCP movement. Years ago, he read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, which helped him see the true nature of the CCP. He said, “The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party is the best textbook. Every Chinese person should read and study it carefully. It can help people detoxify, eliminate the ideological poison caused by the CCP’s long-term brainwashing, and recognize the CCP’s damage to Chinese culture.”

Columnist Yang Maosen attended the rally and made a video recording. He said, “We sincerely thank all the volunteers for their hard work over the years, which has brought hope for human peace. Falun Gong’s greatest success is raising awareness of the persecution. When the truth is spoken, all lies will melt away like ice and snow, vanishing in the sunlight. All demons will disappear when they see justice. Upholding justice will prevail, and we see hope in Falun Gong.”
