(Minghui.org) This happened years ago when my wife and I had just started practicing Falun Dafa. I remember that winter was bitter cold. One day we went out to talk to people about Falun Dafa. On our way home, we saw some fish for sale. They weren’t moving. Believing that they were dead, we bought a few and took them home.
Our home was warm, and after the fish warmed up, they started to flop around. We didn’t think much about it, and just cooked and ate them.
That afternoon our heads started to hurt, I mean, really hurt. The pain was so excruciating that we were rolling around on our bed. At first we thought it was gas poisoning, but it wasn’t. After a while, my wife said that perhaps it was because we’d killed the fish.
Master said,
“For practitioners, we have set the strict requirement that they cannot kill lives.” (Lecture Seven, Zhuan Falun)
As soon as we knew that we had made a mistake on the issue of killing, our heads stopped hurting, and we apologized to Master.
That night we told other practitioners at the practice site what had happened. Everyone thought that it was unbelievable. We all gained a better understanding of how serious cultivation is.
One day our son brought home some live fish. We set them free.
Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual's perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
