Bulgaria: People Sign Petition to End the Persecution of Falun Dafa

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held an event on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Stara Zagora, known as Bulgaria’s City of Lime Trees and Poets, to tell people about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) human rights abuses against Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

It was a hot summer day, and many people were out for a morning walk. They talked with the practitioners and signed two petitions aimed at stopping the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa.

Practitioners raised awareness of the CCP’s persecution in Stara Zagora.

Falun Dafa practitioners from the southern part of Bulgaria—Stara Zagora, Yambol, Peshtera, Dobrinishte, and Chepelare—set up at their usual place for events in front of the department store on the city’s main pedestrian street. Two petitions were available for signing, one that condemns the human rights violations committed by the CCP, and a national petition organized by the Bulgarian Falun Dafa Association (BFDA). The Bulgarian petition aims to protect Bulgarian citizens and institutions from becoming complicit in the crime of illegal organ transplantation.

People Express Confidence in Practitioners’ Cause

Anka and her husband were curious about the event and talked with a practitioner who told them the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. Anka signed the petition and wished practitioners good luck in their efforts.

Donka signed the petition.

Donka listened attentively to a practitioner’s account of the atrocities that spiritual groups in China, especially Falun Dafa followers, have to endure. “I can’t believe it, of course I’m going to sign. I’m outraged to hear about these crimes,” she said.

Although Bozhana hadn’t heard about the CCP’s unfair treatment of spiritual groups in China, she listened as practitioners explained. She signed the petitions, and said, “What you have undertaken must be done. You must succeed!”

Plamena, from Greece, lives in Bulgaria, and said her friend practices Falun Dafa. She knew about the persecution but didn’t have an opportunity to sign a petition until now. She, along with her sister Dimitrina, signed the petitions and wished the practitioners great success.

Dimitar is a young musician who loves to play his guitar on the street under the linden trees. He heard about the persecution three years ago and signed the petitions, “I sign for two reasons. I condemn the violence against Falun Dafa, and I’m against the CCP.”

People are Interested in Falun Dafa

Some passersby were also interested in Falun Dafa and its moral teachings which are based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Maria came to the booth because she heard about the CCP’s atrocities against Falun Dafa. In addition to learning more about the persecution from the practitioners, she also asked many questions about Falun Dafa and the teachings. She signed the petitions and purchased a copy of Zhuan Falun so that she could study the practice’s teachings.

Angel stopped by the booth with a friend because he wanted to purchase a Dafa book. He said he heard about Falun Dafa on the Internet and the benefits of practicing it, and wanted to learn more.
