Denmark: Public Support for Ending 26 Years of Persecution

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Denmark and Sweden held activities on the afternoon of July 19, 2025, at Gammel Torv, Copenhagen’s central square, to tell the public how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) in China, 26 years ago, on July 20, 1999.

Practitioners held banners in both Chinese and English: “Stop Persecuting Falun Gong Immediately!” “Stop the CCP’s Forced Live Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong Practitioners!” and, “Falun Dafa Is Good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good!”

Several practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, while others collected signatures on a petition calling to end the CCP’s large-scale forced organ harvesting from practitioners. Practitioners also gave speeches and described the CCP’s 26 years of atrocities against law-abiding, peaceful citizens in China. They called on all sectors of society to pay attention to the Chinese regime’s recent transnational repression targeting Falun Gong and Shen Yun Performing Arts.

There was also a reenactment of how practitioners are tortured in Chinese prisons, including being locked in iron cages and handcuffed. Though it was only a reenactment, it still moved many kindhearted people who were disturbed that these things are happening today, and who expressed sympathy for persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.

Calling on the Public to End the CCP’s Persecution

Patrik, a Falun Gong practitioner from Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city, made a special trip to Copenhagen to participate in the day’s activities. He talked to people about Falun Dafa and the CCP’s persecution.

Patrik said, “According to partial statistics compiled by Minghui.org, in the past 26 years, reports gathered through unofficial channels confirm that at least 5,238 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of persecution due to their faith.

“In addition, multiple independent investigative groups from different countries have collected extensive evidence proving the CCP’s shameless cover-up of the crime of large-scale forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, a terrible atrocity.”

Democratic Societies Should Unite to Stop This Evil

A woman from Roskilde, Denmark is sympathetic to the plight of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

A Danish woman from the ancient city of Roskilde near Copenhagen was drawn to the serene Falun Gong exercises and stopped to watch for a long time.

“Why is such a peaceful group being persecuted?” she asked. After speaking with practitioners, she realized that the root of the persecution lies in the CCP’s anti-human nature. She said, “Basic freedom of belief and human rights are being trampled upon like this. It pains me that people suffer such brutal persecution under the CCP’s totalitarian rule.”

She was stunned by the CCP’s use of the media and state machinery in China to systematically harvest organs from prisoners of conscience, the majority of whom are Falun Gong practitioners, for profit. She said, “The CCP is a demon. It’s pure evil. It’s not even human!”

She also praised Falun Gong’s universal values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and signed the petition to oppose forced organ harvesting. She said she would share the information she learned with her family and coworkers, and would encourage others to sign online to support practitioners’ efforts to end the CCP’s persecution.

Three women want to see more coordinated effort to end the persecution.

Three women paused to watch the exercise demonstration, took flyers, and said they were surprised and stunned by the torture reenactment of practitioners being locked in an iron cage. After hearing the full details, they said that it was hard to accept such cruel realities.

One older woman sighed, “Falun Gong practitioners insist on being good people and holding onto their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, yet they have been persecuted for 26 years, even facing forced organ harvesting while they are alive!

“If a Falun Gong practitioner is persecuted to death, what about their family? Their children? And this kind of thing is still happening every day in China!”

A younger woman said she’d heard a bit about organ transplant tourism in China, but she never imagined the organs came from living victims. She said, “I didn’t expect the evil behind it to be a state-operated crime, and that imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners are used as a source for transplants! The international community should not tolerate the CCP’s crimes.”

Falun Gong practitioners also told the women that many democratic countries have passed resolutions condemning the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Falun Gong Protection Act, which is now awaiting approval from the Senate and the president’s signature to become law. Several other countries have also enacted laws banning transplant tourism to China.

One of the women concluded, “The Danish government should not remain silent. Democratic societies should unite to stop this evil.”

Before leaving, all three signed the petition in support of Falun Gong practitioners’ peaceful resistance to the persecution.

Many young people stopped at the Falun Gong event and talked with practitioners. They all signed in support of an immediate end to the persecution.

After learning the truth, many members of the public signed to support efforts to end the persecution.

She said, “Such evil must never be tolerated, I support you!”

She then carefully signed her name and also expressed interest in learning Falun Gong. She asked for details about the local exercise schedule and other related information.
