During 26 Years of Resisting Persecution, Swedish Politicians Continue Supporting Falun Gong (Part 2)

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Sweden held a peaceful protest outside the Chinese Embassy in central Stockholm on July 19, 2025. Lotta Johnsson Fornarve, a Swedish Member of Parliament, issued a statement condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa, which has been ongoing since July 20, 1999.

MP Fornarve has been a long-time supporter of the practitioners and their efforts to end the 26-year-long persecution. She and her husband attended a Shen Yun performance during this year’s Easter holiday. In her written statement condemning the ongoing persecution, she said, “We stand in solidarity with Falun Gong practitioners and strongly condemn the CCP’s 26-year persecution of Falun Gong.

“Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a peaceful meditation practice based on the universal values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Since 1999, the CCP has been trying to eliminate Falun Gong practitioners through systematic and severe human rights violations.

“In spring 2025, theaters in Stockholm and Linköping received threats and defamatory letters before four performances of Shen Yun, a Chinese classical dance company founded by Falun Gong practitioners. These are not isolated incidents. Over the past 26 years, Falun Gong practitioners in Sweden have endured surveillance, harassment, threats, insults, disinformation, cyberattacks, and other forms of repression by the CCP.

“These actions not only harm Falun Gong practitioners and disrupt Shen Yun, but also threaten the integrity of Swedish institutions, Sweden’s sovereignty, and our fundamental democratic values.

“In the statement issued in June 2025, G7 leaders reaffirmed their commitment to protecting communities and condemned transnational repression as a serious threat to rights and freedoms, national security, and state sovereignty. The CCP’s campaign against Falun Gong is a clear example of the dangers that the G7 calls on the world to oppose.

“We therefore call on the Chinese government to immediately end its persecution of Falun Gong and cease all transnational repression on Swedish soil,” said MP Fornarve.
