Two Elderly Liaoning Women Sentenced to Prison for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Two residents of Qingduizi Town, Beizhen City, Liaoning Province, were sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Wang Ailan, born in August 1953, began practicing Falun Gong in December 1998. She was arrested in late November 2023, while distributing calendars which had information about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to five years and transferred from the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center to the Liaoning Province First Women’s Prison. Other details of her prosecution are being investigated.

Ms. Wang Zhixia, 74, was arrested on January 12, 2024 and had her home raided. She was also detained at the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center. Her systolic blood pressure once reached 260 mmHg (when a normal range is 120 mmHg or lower). She also exhibited symptoms of diabetes.

The Linghai City Court heard Ms. Wang Zhixia’s case on April 11, 2024. She had no legal counsel or family members in attendance (it’s unclear whether her loved ones were notified of the trial or barred from attending). It was learned recently that she was sent to Division 11 of the Liaoning Province First Women’s Prison to serve a term (the length is not known).
