(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Bulgaria held their first national meeting to share their cultivation experiences in Veliko Tarnovo on March 22 and 23, 2025.
Veliko Tarnovo was the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire and remains an important cultural hub. The practitioners’ event was held during the city’s annual celebration and drew many visitors. Many people talked with practitioners and offered their support and encouragement to continue exposing the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution in China.

People Sign Petitions to End the Persecution
The practitioners’ booths and banners were located on both sides of the main promenade in the central city park, Marno Pole, a popular place for recreation and entertainment for the residents of Veliko Tarnovo. Saturday was warm and sunny, so the park was filled with people. Practitioners informed passersby about the CCP’s persecution and handed out leaflets describing the atrocities that have accompanied the 26-year-long suppression. Some practitioners demonstrated the exercises. There were two petitions: one condemns the persecution of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), and the other petition calls on the Bulgarian government to prevent Bulgarian entities from participating in the CCP’s forced organ harvesting operations targeting practitioners.

People crowded in front of the stand, and waited patiently to sign both petitions.

Tatiana is a teacher, and she and her husband, Borislav, learned about the atrocities that people who follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are subjected to in China. They condemned the CCP’s violence and expressed their full support and solidarity with practitioners by signing both petitions.
“It’s unacceptable and inhumane for there to be such violence against human beings!” Tatiana said. The couple also praised the Bulgarian petitions, and said it is really important that people be informed about where transplant organs come from, and are protected from the danger of being accomplices to the CCP’s crimes.

Vladimir was one of the first people to sign the petition to stop the persecution. After talking with practitioners, he sympathized with them, “The Chinese Communist Party is very insidious,” he said.
Dimka signed both petitions and said, “I do not approve of this violence!”
This was the first time George and Elena, an elderly couple, heard about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa. They were shocked by the atrocities against them and how they forcibly removed organs from practitioners. George said, “They [the CCP] have no mercy. It is greedy. We should all live in peace!”
After learning about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa, Penka signed the petitions and wrote: “Good luck! I hope you succeed!”
Media Coverage of Practitioners’ Activities
Several local media outlets reported on practitioners’ activities, including Yantra TODAY, a newspaper; Boliari News; and Radio Veliko Tarnovo.
Yantra TODAY wrote, “Falun Dafa is an ancient Chinese method of cultivating the mind and body, based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, which are believed to be the original laws of the universe. The practice was made public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi and consists of five exercises and a philosophy that gives the practitioner moral guidelines to improve character.”

“In 1999, Jiang Zemin began a brutal persecution of Falun Gong followers, who have since been imprisoned in labor camps, brainwashing centers, and tortured. They also fall victim to another horrific practice – organ removal from living people. The authorities forcibly seize practitioners. A huge and profitable transplant industry is developing in the PRC thanks to this crime,” wrote Boliari News.
