Additional Persecution News from China – March 13, 2025 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tian Lili Sentenced

Ms. Tian Lili was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 16,000 yuan by the Dongzhou District Court. She appealed to the Fushun City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original sentence. She has been admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.

2. [Xingning City, Guangdong Province] Appeal Hearing Scheduled for Mr. Li Zhuozhong and Three Others

Four practitioners were sentenced to prison in late December 2024, including Mr. Li Zhuozhong, a former middle school teacher in his 50s, and his wife, Ms. Liao Yuanqun, a former kindergarten teacher, who were both sentenced to ten years and fined a total of 150,000 yuan. Mr. Xie Yujun, 56, and Ms. Liao Juanna were each given five years and fined 70,000 yuan.

The practitioners appealed with the Meizhou City Intermediate Court, which scheduled a hearing of their case for March 17, 2025. When the practitioners’ lawyers went to the intermediate court to review their case documents, the judges allowed them to take photos, after forcing them to sign a confidentiality agreement. The Meizhou City Procuratorate still didn’t allow the lawyers to review the documents, as they were in the first instance case.

When judge Chen Limin of the appeals court and his assistant Xie went to depose Mr. Li, he tried to clarify that he hadn’t done anything wrong by practicing Falun Gong. Xie commented, “You are helpless.”

Mr. Li was found to have tuberculosis shortly after his arrest, and was denied admission by the local detention center. The police held him at a hospital for months, before taking him to the Xingning City Detention Center in January 2025.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Deng Xiujuan Detained

Ms. Deng Xiujuan, 70, was arrested by officers from the Nanshan Police Station, along with 610 Office agents, on the afternoon of March 4, 2025, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Jinzhou Children’s Park. The police ransacked her home and garage, confiscating many of her personal belongings. Her family learned from an insider that the police had been tracking her for more than a year before arresting her.

She is now being held in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center.

4. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Song Lei Detained; Ms. Du Likun Under Surveillance

Mr. Song Lei was arrested by Kaiyuan Police Station officers on February 20, 2025. Song was taken to Fudong Police Station in the evening. Zhang Chaohui, deputy director of the Hanshan District Police Department, Yang Yang, chief of the Kaiyuan Police Station, and others interrogated him. He was put into the Handan City First Lockup for 15 days on the evening of February 21, and released on March 8, 2025.

In addition to Mr. Song, several local practitioners were also arrested around the same time. Most had contacts with another practitioner, Ms. Du Likun, who had been under the police surveillance for a year without their knowledge.

5. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Gu Shengchi Arrested

Gu Shengchi, gender unknown, of Gaohuang Village, Longfeng Town, was arrested near Jiulong Shopping Mall in Chengdu City on March 2, 2025. Gu was held for several hours in Chengdu City’s Chunxi Road Police Station. The police suspected Gu of distributing Falun Gong flyers. Gu was released after police forced Gu’s family member to sign police reports.

6. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Lin Released

Mr. Wang Lin, 74, of Guojia Village, was arrested by several officers from the Chishan Police Station on the evening of March 5, 2025. The officers ransacked his home, seized his computer, media players, Falun Gong books, and other belongings. He was released the same day.

7. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Zhengxun Detained

Mr. Li Zhengxun of Pingdu City was arrested on March 5, 2025, when he was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Yifengdian Town, Jimo City. He was put in administrative detention on March 6. His family was notified of his detention on March 10. He is being held in the Qingdao City Fifth Lockup.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Xiao Wenhua and Ms. Peng Hui Face Trial

Mr. Xiao Wenhua and his wife, Ms. Peng Hui, were arrested in Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, by officers from the Nanning City Qingxui Police Department on November 21, 2023. The officers ransacked their home. They have since been held in the Nanning City Second Detention Center. Nanning City’s Jiangnan District Procuratorate filed charges against them with the Jiangnan District Court. They are facing trial.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Wang Shubi Arrested

Ms. Wang Shubi was arrested on February 23, 2025, after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held for several hours in a police station and released that night.

10. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wei Guizhi Persecuted

Ms. Wei Guizhi of Mancheng District has been repeatedly targeted in the past two decades for practicing Falun Gong. Officers from Shenxing Town Police Station have harassed her at home every spring.

Ms. Wei was first fined 5,000 yuan for distributing Falun Gong flyers in Donglongmen Village, Bailong Township in July 2008.

On May 6, 2020, she distributed Falun Gong flyers in Daceying Town’s Xiazikou Village Fair and was arrested by three plainclothes officers. They took her to the Mancheng District Police Department, had her undergo a physical exam, and collected her fingerprints. The police took her to the Daceying Police Station in the afternoon and asked her where she got the flyers and who organized the activity. They forced her to sign the interrogation reports. She was released at around 9 p.m.

Four officers from Daceying Town wearing police camcorders went to Ms. Wei’s home on the morning of December 17, 2024, and ordered her to go to the Daceying Police Station for the 2020 case. When she agreed to go with them, they drove her directly to the Mancheng County Hospital, where she was forced to undergo an electrocardiogram and color Doppler ultrasound, as well as have her blood pressure measured, and blood and urine samples collected. The police then forced her to fingerprint and sign a detention notification, and took her to the Mancheng Lockup. She was detained for ten days and then released. Her family was forced to pay 250 yuan for her meals while she was in the lockup.
