(Minghui.org) Shen Yun Performing Arts arrived in Taiwan to begin a 33-show tour in eight cities starting on March 20 at the Keelung Performing Arts Center. Ten days before the show, the Keelung city government received a threatening letter demanding that the venue not be leased to Shen Yun; otherwise there would be “bombs and shootings.”

The police investigated the threat and believe the email is from a Chinese hacker. They assigned additional officers to patrol and conduct security checks to ensure that Shen Yun’s performances are not disrupted.

Keelung City Government: Zero Tolerance for Threats

Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang said that there is “absolutely zero tolerance” for such a threat. In fact, the city government has long been aware of this intimidation of the world-renowned show and asked police to be more vigilant. The government will ensure that activities in Keelung are held safely and peacefully. The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association thanked Mayor Hsieh.

Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang responded to a reporter’s question on March 19 and said the government has “absolutely zero tolerance” for this intimidation and that, “Shen Yun performances will not be affected.”

The CCP Is Afraid of Shen Yun Because the Show Revives Traditional Culture

The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association—the host organization for the Shen Yun tour in Taiwan, issued a statement that it will closely cooperate with police and work with the theater to strengthen security checks and ensure the safety of the audience, theater, and Shen Yun’s artists.

Shen Yun performs in top theaters around the world and has been the target of similar “bomb threats.” It’s clear that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is behind them.

The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association expressed concern over the intimidation suffered by the Keelung Performing Arts Center and strongly condemns the CCP authorities’ thug-like behavior.

In its statement, the Falun Dafa Association said that, since its establishment in 2006, Shen Yun has been subject to various forms of interference and attacks by the CCP throughout the world, including Taiwan. These include using diplomatic means to put pressure on theaters, using high-profile Western media and social media to smear Shen Yun, threatening theaters with bombs and shootings, hiring people to cause trouble outside theaters, and damaging Shen Yun’s vehicles.

The CCP’s goal is to stop people from seeing the true beauty of Chinese culture before communism, and to stop the international community from knowing the truth about the CCP’s persecution of people and how it violates the human rights of Falun Dafa practitioners.

The statement calls on people in Taiwan and other places to recognize that this is a tactic used by the CCP, and is a form of psychological warfare. The Falun Dafa Association has worked closely with police and theaters over the years to ensure the safety of the audience.

The White House Condemned a Similar Threat

Before Shen Yun’s first performance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on February 20, the theater received anonymous threatening emails. The author of the emails claimed there was a bomb in the theater and it would be detonated if Shen Yun was allowed to perform. Police searched the theater but found nothing.

On March 17, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt gave a public response to this incident at a press conference, warning foreign governments “Don’t disrupt it” and “We obviously condemn any violence or threats of violence against American institutions.” She also emphasized, “We obviously condemn any violence or threats of violence against American institutions.”

Spain’s National Police Safeguard Shen Yun

Thus far, the 2025 Shen Yun performances received more than twelve similar threats in the U.S., France, Poland, the U.K., Spain, and other places—the CCP’s goal is to disrupt the performances and damage Shen Yun’s reputation. Instead in many cities all the tickets were sold.

The most recent threat occurred in Spain. The day before Shen Yun’s first performance, the Teatro Auditorio San Lorenzo de El Escorial in San Lorenzo received a bomb threat on March 14, 2025. The Spanish National Police immediately investigated to ensure that Shen Yun was not disrupted.

After a theater in Spain received a bomb threat on March 14, the Spanish National Police immediately investigated.

The host organizer for the Shen Yun performances in Spain said that the Shen Yun tour in Spain has been constantly interfered with by the CCP. For example, the Avila Theater received bomb threats, and theaters in the Barcelona area were directly pressured by the Chinese Embassy. But all the CCP’s efforts failed.

Shen Yun has enjoyed unprecedented popularity in Spain. To ensure the performances are not disrupted, the Spanish National Police safeguarded them.

What the CCP Does Not Want You to See

In the 18 years since its debut, Shen Yun has grown from one to eight companies. This year, it will tour nearly 200 cities in over 20 countries around the world, and give nearly 800 performances. The top-notch artistry attracts people of all ethnic groups, and many shows are sold out. The performances have been highly praised by art lovers from around the world and elites from all walks of life.

The CCP’s attempts to intimidate theaters and suppress Shen Yun failed. Instead, these attempts have brought resistance and countermeasures against the CCP from the international community. The performances of Shen Yun Performing Arts have received more recognition and praise.

The Taiwan Falun Dafa Association stated that Shen Yun is reviving the true Chinese culture, which was spiritual and profound before it was destroyed by the CCP. This is also the kind and long-standing culture that the CCP has spent decades trying to destroy. In the nearly 20 programs that lasted two hours, there were also two programs that showed how people with faith overcame the CCP’s persecution with tenacity and kindness. This is exactly what the CCP fears the most, so the regime has been utilizing transnational intimidation for many years. However, Taiwanese society and free countries in the world have courageously defended the freedom of art and speech expression, and have not allowed the CCP's bad trick to succeed.

Shen Yun Performing Arts will tour to eight cities across Taiwan. Starting with the first performance in Keelung on March 20, the company will travel to Taipei, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Yuanlin, and Taoyuan for a total of 33 performances. The organizer hopes that people will seize the opportunity to enjoy the new and exciting performances presented each year.
