(Minghui.org) Ms. Pei Fengqin’s family didn’t learn about her prison transfer until January 30, 2025, when she was finally allowed to give them a call.

The 68-year-old resident of Tai’an City, Shandong Province had been admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on December 29, 2024, but her loved ones were never notified as required by law.

Ms. Pei’s ordeal stemmed from her initial arrest a bit past 10 a.m. on December 5, 2023 by captain Tian Lin and officer Wang Xianmin from the Taishan District Police Department, as well as five or six agents from the Sanli Police Station. They targeted her because of her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

An officer ordered Ms. Pei to change clothes and go with them. She refused to comply and grabbed onto the corner of a tea table. The police pried her away from the table and handcuffed her before carrying her to their cruiser. During the process, Ms. Pei’s arms were bruised and she had a big bump on her forehead.

After a few hours of interrogation at the Sanli Police Station, the police again carried Ms. Pei into a cruiser and drove her to a hospital for a physical examination. She was found to have high blood pressure, but Tian and Wang still took her to the Tai’an City Detention Center. The guards asked about her health, and the two officers claimed she was perfectly healthy. The guards then took a look at the hospital-issued checkup results and asked the detention center doctor to measure Ms. Pei’s blood pressure. It was even higher than the readings recorded in the hospital.

The guards condemned the police for arresting such a frail woman and refused to admit Ms. Pei. Tian and Wang stayed there for about 30 minutes and eventually took Ms. Pei back to the police station. They ordered her to sign some paperwork. She refused, and they summoned her family to pick her up. One week later, they called her and ordered her to report to them to sign the paperwork. She didn’t go and noted two officers stationed outside her apartment that night to monitor her.

In order to avoid being arrested, Ms. Pei left home and went into hiding. Her family said the police knocked on their door on December 11, 2023, attempting to arrest her.

Ms. Pei returned home on the night of October 14, 2024 to pick up some things. The next morning at around 10 a.m., officer Wang led about five agents to pry open the door and arrested her.

During the physical examination, Ms. Pei was found to have dangerously high blood pressure. Nonetheless, the police managed to get the Tai’an City Detention Center to admit her a bit past 2 p.m. that day.

The Taishan District Court heard Ms. Pei’s case on November 19, 2024 and sentenced her to one and a half years. She was transferred to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on December 29, 2024.
