(Minghui.org) In the article “Towards Consummation,” Master points out some of the fundamental attachments of Dafa disciples. I believe my own fundamental attachment is that I wanted to practice Dafa because the teachings are in line with what I believed to be the right principles and universal values.

I have come to realize that if cultivators think their beliefs in this human world are the ultimate standard of measurement, this is a problem. If they one day perceive that the Fa principles at a certain level, or something the Fa requires us to do, does not accord with the human principles they believe in, they may very well turn their backs on the Fa.

If Dafa disciples use human values to judge Master and Dafa, then they have not gotten rid of their fundamental attachments. The cultivation of Buddha Fa transcends the human realm, so practitioners should not use human principles to judge matters in cultivation.

Master told us:

“I have taught you cultivation, but that doesn’t mean I am cultivating just as you are. If that were the case, and if we had become bad, then you’d just stop cultivating? Is that how it would work? Nothing in the Fa I’ve taught says that the Master must go through grueling cultivation just as cultivators do. The evil has assaulted me because I have been suffering on behalf of sentient beings. And when it’s Dafa cultivation—where people don’t leave the secular world to cultivate, and the disciples are from all walks of life—how could the Master be the same as all his disciples? And why would he have to live like those of his students who have the most karma or the most hardship?” (Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference, Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume VII )

When I read “if we had become bad, then you’d just stop cultivating?” it shook me. A true disciple’s faith in Master should be unconditional.

The evil is creating tribulations outside of China to test Dafa disciples. I realized that Master is beating them at their own game to eliminate the remaining 15 percent of karma among disciples and to help Dafa disciples achieve perfection.

So, no matter what the superficial circumstances are, and no matter who is to blame in those circumstances, as cultivators we must remain committed to Master and Dafa. We must continue to cultivate as we always have, firmly believing in Master, while also safeguarding Dafa, even in the midst of chaos.

Master made it clear to us:

“In fact, Dafa is not only to save human beings—it is also taught to all beings in the various dimensions. Your enlightened, original nature will automatically know what to do. Cherishing your human side enables you to enlighten to and ascend in the Fa. Dafa is harmonizing all sentient beings, and all sentient beings are also harmonizing Dafa. I have told you the solemnity and sacredness of the Fa in order to eliminate your confusion about and misunderstanding of the Fa.” (Expounding on the Fa, Essentials for Further Advancement)

We cannot be cultivators forever, staying among humans for a long time under Master’s care. We must truly enlighten and understand that we bear the responsibility of assisting Master in Fa-rectification and saving sentient beings.

One of our responsibilities is sending forth righteous thoughts. For a long time, I had a misconception about sending out righteous thoughts: As long as I could recognize the evil and hold onto righteous thoughts, I didn’t need to bother with those evil beings.

I was inspired by what another practitioner wrote in an article: “It is not enough to distinguish between good and evil. It is not enough to separate us from evil. We must realize that evil should not exist, and we should do everything we can to eliminate it.”

When this determination rose, my righteous thoughts became as solid as diamond. I really felt that my righteous thoughts had the power to “split a mountain.” (Fa Teaching Given at the 2010 New York Fa Conference, Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume XI)
