(Minghui.org) One morning in March 2021, I returned home after going out to talk to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution. My husband told me that two officers from the police station had come by. I asked, “What for? Why did you let them in?” He said he was going out to buy groceries but, when he opened the door, two men were standing there waiting. They quickly entered our home and said they were from the police station. My husband asked them to show their identification, and one of them, who was slightly older and seemed polite, showed his credentials. It was indeed a police ID.
The younger officer asked my husband whether I practiced Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa). My husband didn’t answer directly but asked, “How do you know that?” The officer responded that they would arrest me if I didn’t “cooperate with them.” My husband wasn’t afraid and argued with him. The older officer, who might have been a police captain, politely said to my husband, “We can talk.” He then asked my husband to call me. My husband told them that I didn’t carry a phone with me. They didn’t want to wait for me to return home and just told my husband to have me go to the police station to sign a document.
After hearing this, I said to my husband, “Don’t worry. I’m a good person who follows Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the principles of Falun Dafa. I have not done anything illegal. What document is there to sign? I won’t go to the police station.”
My husband responded, “What’s the harm in just signing a piece of paper? After signing it, you can just go about your business as usual.”
I told him, “You don’t understand. That signature is for promising not to practice Dafa anymore. I cannot lie. If I sign it, I would be betraying Master.” He didn’t say anything else.
I thought to myself that I should send forth righteous thoughts to clear my dimensional field and eliminate the old forces controlling those police officers. I must not let them commit further crimes. So I sat down and sent righteous thoughts for half an hour. I felt steady in my heart and was no longer as agitated as when I first got home.
During lunchtime, I went to a practitioner’s home in the same residential complex to ask about the situation. Both she and her husband are Dafa practitioners. She said the police had gone to their home first and asked her husband to go and sign a document. She implored me, “You must not sign it. Please don’t go. If they come to your home, just clarify the truth to them. Do not cooperate in any way!”
I discussed this matter with another practitioner the following day, and she also agreed that we should not comply and sign anything.
A few days later, the police called my husband again. I was at home this time, and I overheard my husband say, “She’s not home. When I told her about signing the document that day, we got into an argument, and she went back to her parents’ house.” I couldn’t hear what the person on the other end was saying, but I heard my husband reply, “Right, she hasn’t returned. I don’t know when she’ll be back.”
After he hung up, he confirmed that it was the police he was talking to. I asked, “Why did you lie to them?” My husband said that if he didn’t lie, they would have kept asking about me. I told him, “I will handle this. You must not sign anything on my behalf either. Whoever signs is harming themselves. That would be a betrayal of Master. We must be grateful and act righteously.” Although my husband does not practice Dafa, he has never opposed my practice, and in many situations, he has helped me a great deal.
Afterward, I kept thinking that I cannot keep avoiding this. Those police officers do not fully understand the truth about Dafa. For the sake of obeying their superiors and fulfilling their duties, they ignorantly commit crimes that harm both others and themselves. If we do not clarify the truth to them, they will never understand. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) discards people once they are no longer useful. It wouldn’t be a good ending for them. They are actually the most pitiable.
I shared my thoughts with another practitioner. She said, “If the police come to your home, just clarify the truth to them with compassion. However, if you want to go to the police station to clarify the truth, then you must have strong righteous thoughts and be steadfast in your xinxing.”
Two days later, when I was trying to unlock my bicycle, the key got jammed, and I couldn’t pull it out. After struggling for a long time, I managed to get the key out, but then I couldn’t unlock the bike. At that moment, a line from Master’s poem “To Save the World” in Hong Yin III suddenly came to mind,
“...Expose the lies and open the locksin people’s heartsWe don’t believe consciencescan’t be brought back”
My righteous thoughts surged instantly, and I made up my mind to go to the police station to clarify the truth to the police officers.
After finishing the Dafa exercises in the morning, I sent forth righteous thoughts at the global time, memorized some Fa teachings, and then sent righteous thoughts toward the police station for half an hour. I told my husband about my plans before leaving, then set off. In my heart, I kept repeating, “I’m a practitioner of Falun Dafa.”
Not long after I arrived at the police station courtyard and was considering which building to enter, I noticed someone in a police car nearby. I walked over. The car door opened and an officer asked, while looking alarmed, “What do you want?” I remembered his face from several years ago and determined he was one of the two police officers. So I smiled and told him my name. The officer’s attitude softened, and he got out of the car, smiling as he said, “Oh, you just arrived? Come on inside.” He told me he was Officer Wang.
When we entered the police station, he called over a younger officer. We then all went into an inner office. Officer Wang gestured for me to sit down on the sofa. In my heart, I silently asked Master for help: “Please help me so that I can explain the truth to them as thoroughly as possible.” I figured that I should not wait for them to ask questions. Instead, I must take the initiative to speak.
I started by asking why they kept looking for me. Officer Wang replied, “Nothing much, just wanted to understand the situation.” As he spoke, he walked out of the office and returned shortly after. I noticed something was clipped to his shirt pocket, and it was blinking with a red light. I remembered reading in other practitioners’ experience sharing articles that this was a recording device.
I immediately asked him, “Please turn that off first. Otherwise, we have nothing to discuss.” He said it was just something he used for work. I insisted that he turn it off and take it away. He stepped out for a moment and, when he returned, the device was gone.
I began explaining why I practice Falun Dafa. I told them that I used to suffer from various illnesses, including migraines and back pain, and that medications couldn’t cure them. However, through studying the Dafa teachings and doing the exercises, I completely recovered from all these illnesses. But the key is that I must follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, striving to be honest, kind, and tolerant in all situations. Dafa’s Master teaches practitioners to always consider others first and to look inward when conflicts arise.
The young officer was taking notes and even asked how to write the Chinese character for “Compassion.” Officer Wang hesitated and said, “Now that you ask, I can’t quite remember, either.”
I smiled, “You see, you’re going against Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Imagine how much better society would be if everyone embraced these principles!”
I then explained how the Chinese Constitution guarantees citizens the freedom of belief and that practicing Falun Gong is legal. I mentioned that on March 1, 2011, China’s General Administration of Press and Publication issued Order No. 50, officially repealing the two documents that Jiang Zemin had used in 1999 to ban the publication of Falun Gong materials. They seemed unaware of this and just listened attentively.
I also told them about the lifetime accountability system for government officials in China, explaining that their actions could be investigated in the future. I gave them an example: After the Cultural Revolution, some police officers who carried out the CCP’s oppressive orders during the campaign were secretly executed in Yunnan Province. Their families received only a notice stating that they had “died in the line of duty.”
Finally, I said, “Whether you believe it or not, these are the facts. Falun Dafa practitioners are all good people. You won’t find us involved in gambling, drugs, or prostitution. We don’t cheat, steal, or deceive others. We don’t even gossip in social gatherings.” I stood up and concluded, “I have said all I wanted to say. I hope you will remember ‘Falun Dafa is good,’ uphold your conscience and do not harass Dafa practitioners in the future.”
In the end, Officer Wang tried to get me to sign a document. I firmly said, “I won’t sign it, and I won’t even look to see what it says.” He was fine with me not signing it.
After leaving the police station, I went to a fellow practitioner’s home to share my experience. She told me, “You should have informed us so we could help send forth righteous thoughts.”
“I didn’t want you to feel concerned,” I replied, “so I decided to go on my own. In reality, throughout the entire process, I felt that Master was strengthening my righteous thoughts and protecting me, which is why I wasn’t afraid at all.”
While discussing the fact that the police didn’t know how to write the character for “Compassion,” I suddenly realized that it reflected my own lack of compassion. Even though I had clarified the truth to them, I still carried a competitive mindset while doing so. I understood that I must truly cultivate compassion.
Thank you, Master!
