(Minghui.org) London’s Chinatown was festively decorated with lanterns and crowded with people on Saturday, February 1, 2025, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year. While celebrating the traditional festival, people also paid attention to a global petition concerning human rights and freedom of belief. Many passers-by stopped in front of the Falun Dafa booth to read the truth-clarification materials. After learning about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) forcibly harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience, they signed the petition to express their opposition to the persecution.

Many signed the petition calling for an end to the CCP’s persecution.
London’s Chinatown is a center of multicultural convergence, and the Lunar New Year event highlights the global concern for freedom of belief and cultural protection.
Several people from widely varying backgrounds shared their experiences and feelings. From Chinese immigrants to local British entrepreneurs and executives, to American students, their comments show that more people are becoming aware of the persecution and are speaking out.
The CCP Is Not China
Sun Renyi (alias) and his niece Sun Meiren were once CCP members, and said they are well aware of the corruption within the CCP. They decided to immigrate to the UK. “People who really know the CCP will choose to vote with their feet,” said Sun.
When they learned about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Dafa practitioners, they were not surprised. They knew that the CCP persecuted Falun Dafa because there were more practitioners than Party members, and Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance frightened the Party.
After talking with practitioners, Sun Renyi and Sun Meiren said they wished to withdraw from the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers. Sun Renyi said, “The CCP is not equal to China, and the Chinese are the real citizens of the country.” They said they plan to read the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, which explains the true story of the CCP.
Distinguishing Right from Wrong
Anna is a real estate investor and also works in social media. She, her husband, 10-year-old son Thomas, and 12-year-old daughter Louisa were walking around Chinatown when they saw the practitioners’ petition. They’d talked with practitioners at the same location last year. This time, her son was the first to notice the practitioners’ display and ask for more information.
Anna said, “We talked to a practitioner and learned about the [CCP’s] forced organ harvesting. The children were shocked. Thomas couldn’t believe it was true.”
When they learned that he didn’t have to be 18 years old to sign the petition, Thomas signed the petition without hesitation, and Louisa followed suit. What surprised Anna even more was that her husband, who was usually reluctant to sign petitions, signed it after listening to the practitioner’s discussion.
“This experience made me realize that children can sometimes distinguish between good and evil better than adults. Their innocence and sense of justice touched me,” Anna said. She said she hopes her children understand the importance of compassion and justice.
An Entrepreneur’s Support for Justice
Jonny is an energy industry executive who focuses on developing energy hubs and truck charging projects. He has long been interested in Chinese culture and has studied meditation and qigong. When he was in poor health, he often sought help from Chinese doctors and was deeply helped by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Therefore, when he learned about Falun Gong and the persecution in Chinatown, he was particularly stunned.
Jonny said, “The principles of this practice are really profound and its philosophy is based on the best values of society. I don’t understand why such a peaceful belief would be persecuted.”
When he learned further that the CCP conducts forced organ harvesting for profits, Jonny indignantly said, “This is simply appalling! In April 2022, the British Parliament passed a law prohibiting British citizens from going to China for organ transplants, which shows the seriousness of the problem.”
Jonny said that he was willing to use his resources to help spread information so that more Westerners can learn about this ongoing human rights persecution.
Drawn by the Serene Meditation
Dania and her husband Samuel own a real estate business. Dania remarked, “I was deeply moved when I saw them [Falun Dafa practitioners] meditating here. I firmly believe that people have the right to meditate.” She said that if the government deprives people of this right, everyone will be easily influenced by false information, lose their ability to think independently, and will even be manipulated.
Dania and her husband Samuel learn the second Falun Dafa exercise.
She said that depriving people of their culture and beliefs will have negative consequences, because these are a nation’s foundation. If they are forcibly erased, society will fall into chaos and instability. She said that we need to spread this information to the Western world so that more people can understand the truth and help everyone realize the seriousness of this situation.
Samuel added, “I think this is so inhumane! How can someone be persecuted like this just because of their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance? In the West, many people have the ability to promote change, so it’s crucial to raise awareness and expand influence. I am willing to contribute to spreading information in the community so that more people can hear about this.” The couple said they would contact their Member of Parliament about the persecution in China.
Out of curiosity, Dania and her husband wanted to try the Falun Dafa exercises. After practitioners taught them, Dania said, “The feeling of the practicing is comfortable, and calms one’s mind.” Samuel said he never felt so relaxed. They were interested in learning more and said they would go to a local practice site to meet with practitioners and keep learning.
International Students Condemn the Persecution
Nicole, a student in international trade from the U.S., and her two classmates first heard about the CCP’s persecution while studying in London. They were appalled by the atrocities and noted that the media never reports on the forced organ harvesting.
“It’s wrong for the government to stop people from practicing Falun Dafa, and live organ harvesting is even more inhumane,” Nicole said. “Such a serious human rights issue is rarely mentioned in the Western world. We must do something.”
Nicole and her friends said they would use social media platforms to spread this information and let more people know about the CCP’s brutal persecution. Nicole also said, “If more people in the world know about this and condemn it, the CCP will surely face more and more pressure and stop the persecution as soon as possible.”
