China Fahui | The Importance of Clearly Understanding Fa-Rectification Cultivation

In these final moments before the Fa rectification ends, I feel anxious because practitioners throughout China continue to be arrested and illegally sentenced to prison, and they are also persecuted financially. Some practitioners have passed away from sickness karma.

When I look back on my cultivation path, I see problems some practitioners in my area also had. I’d like to tell you about some of my understandings about Fa rectification so we can improve together and walk the final leg of our cultivation well. Please kindly point out anything that is not on the Fa.

Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Here to Help Master Save People, Not Endure Persecution

I began practicing before 1999 [Editor’s note: the persecution of Falun Dafa began in July 1999]. During my cultivation journey, I’ve always had unwavering faith in Master and Dafa. When the persecution began, I made several trips to Beijing to appeal for justice. I was arrested many times, detained, sent to brainwashing centers, sentenced to labor camps, and fired from my public service job for refusing to give up my faith. These experiences did not awaken me and I did not reflect on what was wrong in my cultivation. I did not realize that the persecution I went through had such a negative impact on Dafa and on saving people.

For some time my thought was: Master is the highest, most righteous being. Dafa is the best and most sacred. I must follow Master and cultivate solidly to the end. I was grateful to Master and my understanding of Dafa remained superficial. I did not act like a Dafa cultivator. Instead, I was like a hero in ordinary society.

The last time I was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center was in 2007. I was released after nearly 20 days of detention. That day, a family member said to me in a serious tone: “You run around telling people Falun Dafa is saving people, and how good it is—yet you cannot save yourself. The police just arrest you like that. The prison is a place where criminals are locked up, a place for bad people. Would good people be locked up in prison? We really cannot believe how good Falun Dafa is from your behavior. You don’t care if you’re arrested countless times, but our family has had enough. You should really reflect on yourself. You should not allow yourself to be arrested again.”

My family member’s words hit me like a hammer: “Indeed, witnessing what happened to me, how can others believe Falun Dafa is good! Who would want to be thrown into jail?” In that instant, I understood: I did not validate Dafa. On the contrary, I tarnished the reputation of Dafa and to a certain extent I had a negative effect on saving sentient beings. That will not do! I realized Master was using my family member to give me a hint.

I reflected on my cultivation path. With Master’s help, I saw many shortcomings: I did not study the Fa with a quiet mind; I was preoccupied with dealing with things superficially, and I focused on other people’s faults. I did not practice cultivation solidly; I did not change myself fundamentally. All these were excuses that the old forces used to persecute me.

I recognized one main reason for problems in my cultivation: I did not have a clear understanding of Fa-rectification cultivation. I did not understand the true meaning of the title “Falun Dafa practitioner.” I wasn’t sure who I was. I failed to position myself correctly and set the right basis for doing things. I did not understand the relationship between practitioners and sentient beings, and the difference between personal and Fa-rectification cultivation. I was not able to grasp the deeper meaning of Fa-rectification cultivation. I was stuck in personal cultivation for a long time and I positioned myself as a victim of the persecution. I think this is a main reason why many practitioners are repeatedly persecuted.

Later, through studying the Fa earnestly and systematically, I gained some understanding of Fa rectification. I realized that: Master chose those who would be practitioners eons ago. They are special beings in the universe and are kings from high-level, different cosmoses who represent countless sentient beings from various heavens. Falun Dafa practitioners came to earth to assimilate to the Fa in the new cosmos and shoulder the sacred mission of assisting Master in Fa rectification and saving sentient beings. They come from high levels, have great inborn qualities, and shoulder huge responsibilities—therefore they will consummate to very high levels. We reincarnated for hundreds of thousands of years, and followed Master to establish various divine cultures so Dafa could be taught today. Our goal is not consummation via personal cultivation, but through saving sentient beings—a mission endowed upon us in history.

From the Fa, I know that: Prior to July 20, 1999, we were doing personal cultivation. Everything we encountered was for our individual improvement. Master pushed true cultivators to their highest positions in the place we originated from. In Fa-rectification cultivation, Master gave us all the capabilities and wisdom necessary to validate the Fa and save sentient beings. After the persecution started, we switched to Fa-rectification cultivation. Studying the Fa and cultivating ourselves well, sending righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil, and clarifying the truth—these are the three things Master asked us to do. The main thing is to validate the Fa and help Master save people. Anything contrary to this is not arranged by Master, so we should completely deny it.

Master is rectifying the universe and the Fa, which have gone off the mark. This includes gods who came to earth to offer salvation. Gods will not be persecuted by humans again, and incidents like Jesus being crucified will not be allowed to happen again. As practitioners who assist Master in rectifying the Fa, we should carry out what Master wants. We are the main characters in this historical play, and our relationship with sentient beings is that we are saving them and they are being saved, rather than sentient being being perpetrators of the persecution and Dafa practitioners being persecuted. Falun Dafa practitioners are here to save people, not to endure persecution. Only when people respect Dafa and practitioners, can they be saved by Dafa and enter the news cosmos.

Breaking Through the Plot to Persecute Me

As I kept elevating my understanding of the Fa, my righteous thoughts grew stronger. My trauma from past persecution experiences also gradually faded. I was able to recall the Fa when things suddenly happened—I eliminated the interference with righteous thoughts and stopped the old forces from destroying people.

A few years ago, a practitioner I knew well was arrested a few days after articles she wrote about the way she was persecuted were published on Minghui.org. She exposed me when she was interrogated and tortured.

I did not know about it then, but the next day I had a strange feeling. When I was outside, the weather suddenly became abnormal. I took it as a sign that bad things were about to harm me. My main consciousness was very clear. I sent out a strong thought at once: “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in the Fa-rectification period and I was chosen by Master. I am here to help Master save people. I’m not here to be persecuted by the evil! Only Master decides my fate. I will not allow the old forces to test me while sacrificing sentient beings. I completely dissolve and eliminate all evil schemes to stop people from being saved.” My celestial eye is closed, but I felt how strong this thought was; it could move mountains! This is the power of Dafa. I knew Master was beside me, protecting me, and I would be fine. Practitioners who knew what happened offered to help me send righteous thoughts, and nothing happened to me.

The persecution at that time was severe. Truth-clarification materials production sites, and practitioners who could break through the CCP’s Internet firewall were major targets of persecution. I did not have any concept of being persecuted then. I simply remembered Master’s Fa:

“Their warped notions have made them think that the persecution of gods in history was right. Incidents such as Jesus being crucified have become the precedent for high-level beings who come down to save people. How could that be acceptable? That itself is degenerate! A god comes down to save people, yet humans crucify him—what a huge sin they have committed! They are still paying for it today.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the Great Lakes Fa Conference in North America,” Guiding the Voyage)

My understanding is that Master already rectified the Fa that allows gods who come down to save people to be persecuted. Practitioners are beings renewed by Dafa and are with Master in saving people, therefore negative beings are not allowed to manipulate people to persecute us. This is so that beings don’t commit sins.

Once, a practitioner in my area in charge of an important project was arrested. The local police regarded it as a “major case.” Police bureaus in several cities worked together, and heads of senior level agencies also participated. Under huge pressure, this practitioner exposed the names of several practitioners. I was one of them. The situation was very tense then. According to insiders, the head of the police department demanded that all practitioners on the list be arrested as soon as possible.

I was a bit unsteady when I first heard this, but I soon calmed down: This is not Master’s arrangement and I absolutely deny it! Master and Dafa are in charge of practitioners. No beings are fit to interfere with us or arrange so-called tests. I also sent strong righteous thoughts to thoroughly eliminate all attempts to persecute practitioners and destroy sentient beings. I discussed the situation with other practitioners based on the Fa, and we soon reached a common understanding.

Everyone took action and sent righteous thoughts more often. Through this incident, we made progress in our understanding of the Fa principles. Later on, with Master’s protection, all of us who were on the list were safe and the evil’s conspiracy came to naught. I am deeply grateful to our great Master!

Several other incidents happened that appeared dangerous on the surface. However, guided by the Fa’s principles, I was fine. On the CCP’s “sensitive dates” large-scale arrests were carried out, but I was not moved. I maintained strong faith. Master is rectifying the Fa, and only what Master says counts! Everything on this earth came for Fa rectification, and we should eliminate everything that is not what Master wants! The human world is a stage for Dafa and Dafa disciples to save people. It is not a playground for the evil to do evil.

Denying the Financial Persecution

Besides enduring physical and mental persecution, during all these years of persecution, many practitioners have also been severely persecuted financially. Some were fired from their jobs after they were sentenced to prison and some had to pay huge fines. Some practitioners became bankrupt because of the persecution. Other practitioners were forced to leave home to evade arrest. They had no stable income and led a hard life. Some practitioners’ family members were blackmailed when the practitioner tried to avoid arrest, and this caused financial hardship to the family. A main reason for this persecution is because we practitioners have not been clear in our understanding of the Fa, so the old forces have taken advantage.

In the early days of the persecution, because I refused to give up the practice, I was fired by my workplace. I lost my source of income and life was tough. I had the wrong understanding, that this happened to help me eliminate my attachment to personal gain. I did not see this as the old force’s financial persecution, and instead, I acknowledged it. I was seeing things from the perspective of personal cultivation. I later realized that everything in the universe is created by Master, and therefore, whatever we need and use is from Dafa. We should use resources correctly, to save people. Master taught us to align with ordinary human society to the greatest extent in our cultivation. Dafa cultivation is unlike cultivation for monks, who are penniless. Master hopes his disciples are wealthy and thus will have the ability to do the three things well.

We are doing the most sacred, remarkable thing in the universe. We should not be attached to anything in the human world, but our actions also affect whether we can effectively save people. Master has already taken away the blessings of those who persecute practitioners. Those petty officials who were arrested in the name of corruption for persecuting Dafa and practitioners no longer have any blessings.

When I understood this, our financial situation improved tremendously. My husband and I successfully applied for retirement benefits. We had a stable income and our son found a job with a good salary. Three years ago, we were able to buy a new house, which is a miracle. I did not pursue these things. They are a manifestation of how amazing Dafa is in the human world. It is a blessing to practice Dafa and this is what Master bestowed on us.

The change in our family situation changed the perceptions of those who know me. Those who once mocked and looked down on us, those who said Falun Dafa practitioners are foolish and poor, now respect and admire me. When I told them about the benefits of practicing Dafa once again, they readily accepted it.

Saving Sentient Beings With Compassion

I recently heard some practitioners say that it’s too hard to practice cultivation, that they don’t know how to improve in cultivation, and there are endless attachments that never seem to be eliminated. Some practitioners become downhearted; others give up after failing to pass tribulations for a long time. Some passed away from sickness karma, which negatively affected our ability to clarify the truth and save people. In my opinion, for these practitioners who have incorrect cultivation states, it is that most of them remained in the state of personal cultivation. They did not guide themselves with high-level principles and were therefore unable to progress in cultivation.

Master taught us the Fa of the new cosmos. Right from the start, Master pushed us to very high levels. We should seize the fundamentals of Fa-rectification cultivation: we must be clear about who we are—our purpose is to save people and eliminate our selfish nature. Everything we do should be to save people. We should use the standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance to judge whatever we encounter, and, as long as it goes against the standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, it should be denied.

Most people in the world today are divine being. They are kings from high levels and represent countless beings from their world. They had the courage to reincarnate as humans, hoping to obtain the Fa and be saved. Yet, once they become deluded in the world, their true nature is buried. Master asked us to awaken them and lead them to return to their home in the new universe. We cannot be bothered by what they do. We should only look at the real essence of their being. They are Master’s kin, high-level beings, except they play different characters in the human world.

When we have compassion in our hearts, we see beings as suffering and our clarifying the truth will be effective. Compassion is powerful; it not only dissolves elements that stop sentient beings from being saved, it also dissolves our own warped notions and various human attachments. Having compassion is more effective than simply identifying our attachments and eliminating them.

One evening, someone knocked on my door. I opened it and saw two police officers standing outside. One of them asked, “Are you going to ask us to come in?” I said, “How can I not invite you in since you are here? Come in.” They entered. After a few words, the younger policeman took out a camera to take photos. I stopped him. I said that I cannot let them do illegal things, as it is bad for them. I understood that since they came to my house, they have a predestined relationship with Dafa. I must tell them the facts and save them. Police officers are also beings we should save.

As I talked to them about Dafa, they listened quietly. The older police officer looked slightly embarrassed and said, “We won’t come to your house again. Thank you for letting us in.”

I have a classmate from high school who works in the town government. I met him several times at the market. When I spoke about Dafa, he rudely stopped me and I wasn’t able to clarify the truth after several attempts. A practitioner saw me talking to him. After the classmate left, the practitioner told me to be on the guard as he had clarified the truth to him previously but he was very stubborn. He’d even threatened to call the police. I didn’t have any negative thoughts towards my classmate after hearing these words. I only had pity and regret. I knew his actions were not from his true being, but came from warped notions and karma. I needed to get him to understand the truth and be saved—I could not give up on him.

Later, I ran into that classmate again at the market. I first sent righteous thoughts to dissolve all evil beings and elements that stopped him from learning the facts. This time, his attitude changed. He took the materials I gave him and asked me to pay attention to safety. I could not stop crying. I was so gratified that he was saved. More than ever, I was infinitely grateful to Master for his compassion.

Falun Dafa practitioners are beings chosen by Master to assist him in Fa rectification. They came to earth from distant cosmoses. I cherish this sacred predestined relationship with practitioners. Although practitioners behave differently, I only see our true natures. I respect practitioners, and we should help one another and not give the evil any excuse to create gaps between us and persecute us. I treat my kin the same way. I only see their true nature, because they too are beings from high levels. They came to earth hoping to be saved by Dafa.

Looking back on the path I have walked, Master’s Dafa made me who I am and gave me a new life. Dafa turned me from a selfish being full of karma, to a Dafa disciple who works tirelessly for others and saves sentient beings. Thank you, Master!

Conclusion

The Fa rectification is unprecedented. Divine beings, no matter how high their level, have never heard of Fa rectification. Master chose us to become Falun Dafa practitioners. Today, we are able to fulfill our holy mission of assisting Master in Fa rectification. This utmost honor is unprecedented and incomparably sacred. All the gods envy us.

Master has extended the end time with great endurance, so that we can become magnificent divine beings once again. The path we walk will be an example for the future.

Let us position ourselves correctly during the Fa-rectification period in the little precious time left for us. Let us play our roles well in saving people, and allow our divine sides to quickly surface! I will follow Master closely in Fa rectification, correct everything that is not right, including myself, and walk well the final stage of my cultivation path.
