[Newly Translated Older Death Case] Heilongjiang Man Dies Two Years After Serving a Four-Year Term

A Sunwu County, Heilongjiang Province, resident, passed away in October 2019, two years after he finished serving a four-year term for practicing Falun Gong. 

Mr. Wang Dehai was arrested in September 2013, for talking to people at a public plaza about Falun Gong. He was sentenced to four years and served time at Beian Prison and Tailai Prison. The inmates were instigated by the guards to beat him. He also suffered from a severe hernia and contracted pneumonia. 

After he was released in 2017, the police continued to harass him on a regular basis. The mental pressure prevented him from recovering from the conditions. He died two years later in October 2019.
