(Minghui.org) It’s recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that a Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, resident, was sent to prison on December 14, 2024 to serve a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Bao Shuangdi, 73, was arrested at a bus station on June 19, 2024, when she was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials there. The police raided her home and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and a wall calendar which had information about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Zhenjiang City Detention Center that evening and sentenced to 3.5 years by a local court at an unknown date. She is now incarcerated in the Nanjing Women’s Prison. Nanjing City is the capital of Jiangsu Province.
After Ms. Bao began practicing Falun Gong in August 1997 many of her ailments, including a heart condition, rheumatoid arthritis, frozen shoulder, and sciatica, soon disappeared.
After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in July 1999, Ms. Bao went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested and held at the Tiananmen Square Police Station. She was later escorted back to Zhenjiang and held in the Zhenjiang City Detention Center for a month.
Ms. Bao was arrested again on January 8, 2001 and held at a brainwashing center until January 23, 2001, the eve of the Chinese New Year. The police took her back to the brainwashing center after the Chinese New Year and gave her a one-year labor camp term. She faced constant police harassment after she returned home.
Ms. Bao was later arrested again and taken to the brainwashing center for the third time. Because she developed a severe medical condition and was unable to keep food down, the police released her.
Ms. Bao’s next arrest was on April 2, 2004, after she was reported for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was given a 15-month term at the Judong Women’s Forced Labor Camp. The guards assigned drug addicts to monitor her. They verbally abused her, deprived her of sleep, and denied her restroom use. She was also forced to work long hours each day without pay.
Ms. Bao was walking on the street on September 5, 2008, when a police cruiser pulled over and several officers came out and arrest her. She was first taken to a hotel and then transferred to the local detention center. After being detained for one year, she was secretly sentenced to three years by the Runzhou District Court on June 8, 2009.
Ms. Bao was taken to the Nanjing Women’s Prison on July 28, 2009. Guard Ding Hongyan at the fifth division shocked her with electric batons and deprived her of sleep because she refused to renounce Falun Gong.
