(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported that more than ten residents of Xianning City, Hubei Province (see the related reports) were still serving time or facing prosecution for practicing Falun Gong. This report presents three additional cases that were recently confirmed.
Ms. Li Yanhong, 71, was home at around 6 a.m. on August 30, 2017, when more than ten officers led by chief Li from the Junshui Town Police Station broke in. She managed to escape.
The police summoned her daughter and son-in-law, who worked out of town, back to Xianning in June 2022, in an attempt to make Ms. Li renounce Falun Gong. They also revealed that the 2017 attempt to arrest her was because she and several other local practitioners made phone calls to expose the persecution of Falun Gong. They promised to close her case without prosecuting her if she let them know who provided the cell phones to her. Ms. Li refused to comply and was sentenced to seven years in just a few days. She is still serving time at the Hubei Province Women’s Prison (in the capital city of Wuhan).
Ms. He Guihong, in her 50s, was arrested on April 23, 2024 and taken to the Xianning City First Detention Center. Her family has not been allowed to visit her since.
Ms. Cheng Weiping took up Falun Gong in 2015. She was arrested at 7 a.m. on April 23, 2024 and has since been held at the Xianning City Detention Center.
