(Minghui.org) A Dengta City, Liaoning Province, resident was sentenced to four years on September 5, 2024, for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Hong Xiuyan was arrested in late April 2024, and stood trial in the Dengta City Court on September 5, 2024. She was convicted at the end of the hearing. She is currently being held in the Liaoyang City Detention Center. Liaoyang oversees Dengta City. Other details of her case remain to be investigated.
This is not the first time that Ms. Hong has been targeted for her faith. She was previously arrested during a police sweep on July 14, 2014, and sentenced to six and a half years on February 15, 2015. The other eight practitioners who were arrested along with her were also give prison terms ranging from 3 to 6.5 years. All nine of them appealed, but the Liaoyang City Intermediate Court ruled against them on July 3, 2015. They served time in the Shenyang City Prison. See the related reports for details.
