(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoying Sentenced to 20 Months

6. [Beijing] Ms. Li Ruiling Tried in a Virtual Hearing in the Detention Center
7. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Qiao Guiying Harassed
8. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] At Least Seven Practitioners Harassed
9. [Kangping County, Liaoning Province] At Least Seven Practitioners Arrested on the Same Day
10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Wei Deli Finished Serving One Year in Prison
1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoying Sentenced to 20 Months
Ms. Jiang Zhaoying of Luyang District was arrested in December 2023 when she was talking to people in the Shuanggang area about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was held in a local detention center. The Shushan District Court sentenced her to 20 months in prison in mid-August 2024.
Ms. Jiang has been repeatedly persecuted for practicing Falun Gong and exposing the persecution since 1999. She was sentenced to a year in prison and fined 2,000 yuan in December 2021, and was released after she finished the prison term on January 20, 2022.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Cui Song Detained
Cui Song, gender unknown, made photocopies of Falun Gong flyers in a print shop and was reported by the owner. Cui Song was arrested by Heping District Police Department officers on the afternoon of August 27, 2024, and was taken to the Shenyang City First Detention Center that night.
3. [Beijing] Ms. Sun Zhongfang Given One Year on Bail
Ms. Sun Zhongfang, 85, lives in West Majiabao Road, Fengtai District. A group of officers from the police station and Domestic Security Division, as well as community workers, went to her home on August 1, 2024. They declared that she was being given one year on bail because a security camcorder recorded her distributing Falun Gong flyers.
4. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Feng Jia and Gu Caiqing Detained
Feng Jia, gender unknown, of Jingxiu District, was arrested and taken to the Qingyuan Detention Center by Nandayuan Police Station officers for distributing Falun Gong flyers. Feng Jia was placed under seven days of detention and scheduled to be released on September 1, 2024.
Gu Caiqing, gender unknown, of Quyang County, was arrested while distributing Falun Gong flyers. Gu Caiqing was given 10 days of detention. Details are unknown.
5. [Beijing] Ms. Ma Xiuyun and Her Husband Mr. Tang Pingshun Harassed
Ms. Ma Xiuyun and her husband Mr. Tang Pingshun were arrested on October 12, 2022 and both were sentenced to 1.5 years on May 24, 2023. After they were released on April 8, 2024, the authorities have been harassing and monitoring them on a regular basis, especially on anniversaries related to Falun Gong or major political meetings.
On August 30, 2024, just three days after a harassment incident by the police and 610 Office agents, the couple noticed three security guards monitoring them outside of their home on the first floor.
6. [Beijing] Ms. Li Ruiling Tried by the Local Court
Ms. Li Ruiling was tried by the Shunyi District Court on August 14, 2024. Her family attended the hearing.
7. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Qiao Guiying Harassed
Wang Baoping, a police officer in Pingding County’s Nanguan area, and a female community worker went to Ms. Qiao Guiying’s home twice on July 8, 2024. Ms. Qiao was not at home. They took pictures of a family member, and forced the family member to send her picture to them.
8. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] At Least Seven Practitioners Harassed
Following an order from the Suining City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office, local police and residential committee staff members harassed many local practitioners in August 2024.
Some known cases are below.
Ms. Xiao Guilan, 69, of Chuanshan District, and her husband were harassed by Zhenjiangsi Police Station officers and Chaoyang Community staffers.
Mr. Zhang Qilin, 82, Ms. Chen Zihui, 77, and Xie, first name and gender unknown, of Wencheng Community Subdivision, were harassed by police and community workers in mid-August 2024.
Ms. Xi Xianrong, 79, was harassed by Zhenjiangsi Police Station officers and Wencheng Community District staffers on August 14, 2024.
Ms. Wu Yulan, in her 70s, and Ms. Jiang Taiju, 70, were harassed.
9. [Kangping County, Liaoning Province] At Least Seven Practitioners Arrested on the Same Day
At least seven practitioners were arrested on August 27, 2024 by officers from the Kangping County Police Department. The practitioners were Li Manxin, Yu Chenglong, Liu Qiang, Zhen Xiufen, Lu Yuming, Wang Xiuzhen, and a male practitioner who is in his 40s and works out of the town most of the time.
At the time of writing, Li and Wang have been released.
The police also attempted to arrest Jin Youan that day, but Jin wasn’t home when the police arrived.
10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Wei Deli Finished Serving One Year in Prison
Wei Deli, gender unknown, was arrested in August 2023, and later sentenced to one year in prison. Wei finished serving time in the Xinglongshan Detention Center and was released on August 28, 2024.
